00:00We continue on topic as the second popular consultation move forward across Venezuela.
00:06We join now our correspondent Denise Arabi, who has more details about how this event is currently developing
00:13from the Alianza Bolivariana Comune in Los Cortijos, Miranda State.
00:22Exactly, Pablo, as you said, Venezuela is holding its second national popular consultation of 2026,
00:28reaffirming the Bolivarian's revolution's commitment to grassroots democracy
00:32and the people's direct participation in decisions that shape their communities.
00:36We are at the Alianza Bolivariana, or Bolivarian Alliance Comune, in Los Cortijos, in the Miranda State,
00:42where eight communal councils are voting in five projects submitted to the popular vote.
00:47Among them are financing for local entrepreneurs, a proposal for the remodeling of the communal council headquarters,
00:53and the purchasing of gas tanks for the families in the commune.
00:56More than 37,000 projects have been submitted nationwide, giving communities the opportunity
01:02to determine how government resources will be invested to address local needs and improve living conditions.
01:08This popular consultation mobilizes more than 48,000 communal councils, more than 5,000 communes,
01:15and 428 condominium boards, expanding participation to different forms of community organization.
01:20The initiative builds on a process launched under Commander Hugo Chávez, who promoted the creation of communal councils in 2006.
01:29Two decades later, the National Popular Consultation advances that vision by placing communities at the heart of public decision-making.
01:38Voting is taking place at more than 11,000 electoral centers and 12,000 polling stations.
01:44The process also incorporates 1,000 new voting centers proposed by the communities themselves,
01:50bringing democratic participation, making it closer to the people.
01:54The projects are selected through community assemblies, where residents identify their priorities
01:59and choose seven initiatives to advance to the popular vote.
02:03In this case, there are five.
02:05The winning projects will receive government funding through the Federal Council of Government,
02:10enabling communities to take an active role in carrying out their own development plans.
02:15Through direct participation, Venezuelans are having an active voice in addressing the needs of their communities
02:20and how public resources can be used to build a more organized, participatory, and socially just society.
02:27We will continue touring the mirror on the state and bringing you how this process unfolds.
02:31We go back to you now.
