Jon Stewart is making his 'Daily Show' return! After a year-long search for Trevor Noah's replacement, the longtime host and Noah predecessor has agreed to return to host through the 2024 election. The Comedy Central series will have Stewart back on Mondays. The show will rely on its newsroom of correspondents such as Jordan Klepper and Ronny Chieng among others to lead the show for the remainder of the week with this plan moving forward through the Presidential election.

00:04Jon Stewart is making his Daily Show return.
00:08After a year-long search for Trevor Noah's replacement,
00:11the longtime host and Noah predecessor
00:13has agreed to return to host through the 2024 election.
00:16The Comedy Central series will have Stewart back on Mondays.
00:20The show will then rely on its newsroom of correspondents,
00:22such as Jordan Klepper and Ronnie Chang, among others,
00:25to lead the show for the remainder of the week,
00:27with this plan moving forward through the presidential election.
00:30Stewart, who spends 16 years at the show, many of them Emmy-winning,
00:34will be heavily involved as an executive producer on the other nights as well.
00:38The move comes after Stewart prematurely exited his Apple TV Plus show The Problem,
00:43following creative differences between the streamer and host
00:45over potential topics and guests.
00:48Stewart is also expected to be actively involved in shaping new talent for the show,
00:52as he had done for many years before.
00:54In fact, he's largely responsible for launching the careers of Stephen Colbert,
00:58John Oliver, Michael Che, and Samantha Bee, among others.
01:02Plans for a permanent host for the Daily Show have been up in the air
01:05since Noah announced abruptly in late September of 2022
01:08that he'd be exiting the series,
01:10and has been cycling through celebrity guest hosts since January of 2023,
01:15including Cal Penn, Leslie Jones, Chelsea Handler,
01:18Hasan Minhaj, and Sarah Silverman.
01:20When asked about the prolonged process to find a permanent replacement,
01:23Noah himself has noted,
01:25I think the strike negatively affected the show, and so I get it.
01:28I also don't think it's an easy slot to fill.
