00:00Welcome to The Daily Show. My name, Miyamo, Jon Stewart.
00:06You can expect more of that next year. Jon Stewart will reportedly remain at The Daily Show through
00:122026, Paramount Skydance making the announcement Monday.
00:19The company said Stewart will continue his role as host and one of the executive producers of
00:25the show through December of next year. But the announcement didn't come as a shock.
00:30As he told The New Yorker's David Remnick last month, plans were in the works for his return.
00:36Your contract comes up in December. You're going to sign another one?
00:41I mean, we're working on staying.
00:44Stewart currently hosts the show on Mondays. He signed a one-year contract in February 2024
00:50to return to the show he anchored for nearly two decades. The Daily Show has seen success in
00:57ratings since Stewart's return to the desk, receiving its most Emmy nominations ever this
01:02year, smashing its previous record. Despite the success, there was speculation about the
01:08show's future after Comedy Central's parent company, Paramount, merged with Skydance and
01:13after Paramount decided to cancel the late show with Stephen Colbert, which Stewart is an executive
01:19producer for. It led to this response from Stewart on The Daily Show earlier this year.
01:24You're afraid and you protect your bottom line. I've got but one thing to say, just one little
01:33phrase. Go f**k yourself!
01:38But speculation over the show's future now appears to have died down with the latest announcement.
01:44The head of Comedy Central releasing this statement in response to Stewart's renewed contract,
01:49saying, the renewal is a win for audiences, Comedy Central, and for all our programming partners.
