Paramount is hoping to refuel the 'Top Gun' franchise for liftoff once more for a third film in the storied franchise.

00:13and sources say Maverick director Joe Kaczynski would also return to direct.

00:17The film is looking to reunite Tom Cruise with his co-stars Miles Teller and Glenn Powell.

00:22The development comes days after Warner Bros. Discovery announced that Cruise had signed a deal to star and produce movies for Warners,

00:28though that pact is non-exclusive.

00:31Maverick was a massive over-performer at the box office in 2022, earning $1.5 billion globally

00:37and sparking Steven Spielberg to credit Cruise for saving the theatrical business.

00:42The feature followed decades after 1986's Top Gun, which helped cement Cruise as a rising movie star.
