00:06When I was in grade school, I was in a music class, and a music teacher literally changed the trajectory of my life.

00:15When she basically said, you are not the class clown, you are a singer.

00:19She gave me something to do, she gave me a purpose, she made me a leader in my community.

00:24That's what arts education does.

00:26We have to continue to invest in it for the future.

00:31Artists create space for people to connect in a world that is increasingly disconnected.

00:38Funding for the arts reminds us that we are human, and there is no replacing us.
