00:00this is the first time I've seen the Pacific Ocean amazing it's like paradise isn't it is
00:16gorgeous look at the waves coming over the rocks Wow I was dreaming of this and I was
00:25actually just sat in a pool of my own sweat a sleepy beach town in western El Salvador El
00:34Zonte a haven for surfers chasing warm water swells what do you think of this spot it's
00:41absolutely incredible it's stunning this coastal landscape is defined by the rugged cliffs that
00:48shape the shoreline carved over millions of years by the power of the Pacific Ocean and
00:53intense volcanic activity oh yeah okay okay it's Molly not well do you know what it must have
01:02been something she's eating or something no send her our love I hope she gets better quickly thank
01:07you guys I've said Molly's ill actually she's revising the route that's what she's doing in
01:12the room nice after Guatemala yeah that was tough some things there's nothing you can do
01:21the bus breaks down there's roadblocks if you can't do something out there why worry because
01:26you can't do anything about it I love that I won't lie to you it was interesting to see that we had made
01:31up some ground on you because we were worried that they were going to start having two different races
01:35the three of us and then just you on your own while race positions remain unchanged the 23 hour lead for
01:42Anita and Bal has reduced to just three and a half hours it's time that we take those those front runner
01:49positions definitely I think you guys nip up to second we'll take that oh is it is that how it's gonna
01:55happen not first then oh with two legs completed Roman and Harley Moon have the healthiest looking
02:07budget whilst Molly and Tyler hold the least money I think anything that helps the budget will be a
02:13priority going into this leg maybe pick up some work along the way keeping it cheap and prove to
02:19ourselves that we can be better than third place now you're doing the budgeting for this yeah I'm the
02:24banker what's the what's the secrets I'm not telling you he's a Yorkshireman and a Punjabi he never
02:32spends anything now it feels like all right it's anyone's right bring it here we go again
02:54I've got butterflies at the moment hi how you doing just for you guys thank you very much your third
03:02point is Valley angels Angeles the Valley of the angels yep very good I hope they're on our side
03:11the angels okay map let's do it right Hawkeye let's get in there value angels valid angels
03:24there you go we're going to Honduras baby marking the halfway point for the race Valley de Angeles
03:36Honduras the most mountainous country in Central America seated within this alpine terrain it's a
03:44former 16th century mining town and now a popular weekend getaway from the capital to reach this third
03:52checkpoint teams will continue their journey through El Salvador known as the land of volcanoes with over
03:5920 forming the country's spine having suffered a devastating 12-year civil war followed by a rise in
04:06gang violence a recent government crackdown means El Salvador has become safer for tourists who travel
04:12after dark is still widely discouraged and rarely exists this looks good to me conchagua volcano I've never
04:22been on top of a volcano for a start it's my most favorite thing in the world to wake up in a foreign
04:28country sunrise over a unique landscape it's when I feel at my most calm it's on the road as well and it's
04:34on the right direction let's go for it yeah yeah I feel like we've had this amazing trip but it's been
04:40very do do do do cluster and also my life is intense honestly dad I really want to just have a bit of peace and
04:48quiet I've worked since I was 14 like I've just worked all the time even when I was at uni I had three jobs
04:56and it's taken a lot to kind of get to this point but actually now I feel at 47 quite nice to like lower the
05:03frequency a little bit camping on top of a volcano that is a bit of me all right just get me there
05:10let's go taking advantage of the early start the pair aim to travel 185 kilometers to reach San Miguel
05:18just shy of conchagua volcano okay she said no don't know maybe half an hour leaving El Zonte travel
05:31timetables are elusive if there's a nice big juicy looking vehicle I might flag it down dad teams must
05:37journey like locals hailing oncoming transport or hitching in daylight in the hope of a free ride
05:43well there's a bus the bus behind the buses one coming behind it dad grab that bus grab that bus
05:53ask him as well there's a bus there ask grab it grab it leave your bag grab that mic just grab the bus
06:01okay I'll ask him let's go to San Salvador see okay one moment please for favor one moment
06:08there's this bus no okay
06:12no no
06:16what was that one going he's not waiting please wait wait wait wait that was the bus
06:24how did he just drive off I just got off and then he drove off because we were dilly dally
06:30I was on it I was on the bus oh yeah okay I'm gonna either flag down a bus or flag down somebody
06:40let's go all right Honduras here we come which way
06:47next to leave three hours and 35 minutes after the leaders siblings Roman and Harley Moon we've got
06:56to make up that time because Anita and Bao they're already on their way really don't want them to be
07:01they're going to get the hat trick ball please please please here we go
07:08hola are you going to San Salvador hello yeah muchas gracias you're a lifesaver you really are thank
07:15you let's go daddy oh could be strategically quite good to be close to a border surely yeah so we get
07:22to Honduras as quickly as possible and you've got the option of La Union which can take you up to the
07:27capital that's close to Valley de Andres we could be the first ones in Honduras to leave El Salvador
07:32teams could depart by sea from the port of La Union although they can cover good distance by boat they
07:38must surrender themselves to the timing of the tide alternatively they could enter Honduras via the
07:45main land border crossing El Amatillo a spot that is well connected but often congested since we've
07:53been in El Zonte it's obvious that you know there's a lot more tourists a lot more people that speak
07:56English sticking by the coast the route looks it looks so easy clear yeah let's hug the coast
08:02then going on the main touristy track we've got more chance of running into people that can help
08:07us I'm happy if you're happy are you happy I don't know but something's just telling me if we could be
08:14the first ones into Honduras it could be good yeah okay just see how far down we can get before it
08:22it's dark oh a bus stop hopefully all buses lead to Honduras yeah I think this was us okay let's go the
08:30siblings plan to bus hop through the region of Surf City to reach La Union and enter Honduras by sea
08:37okay where are we going I don't actually know what you mean we jumped on the first bus we could find we
08:46don't know if it's going in the right direction it's going inland and that doesn't feel right
08:53what you're finding on the signature oh you can speak English sure we're trying to hug the coastline as
08:58much as possible to get to our Union is it possible you're sure but you are here right so we're not
09:05going along the coast okay Holly I think get off okay to avoid heading inland the siblings hop off
09:14from your 11 kilometers away from the checkpoint all right we have not moved very far I hope it's not
09:20a bad omen let's do this my nana always used to say a bit of sea that make you feel better
09:27setting off almost four hours after the race leaders the two remaining teams
09:37Molly and Tyler with a four-minute lead on their fellow stragglers I feel the worst I've felt in a
09:50long time it has been a rough 24 hours I don't know if we ate something dodgy but we got a bit of food
09:57poisoning I'm not feeling sick anymore but Ty's been ill today so we just got to take it easy and I just
10:06want us to get moving right Valley there and Gilly's where do you think it is so you need to carry on
10:15for a second my throat yeah haven't eaten Connie can't keep it down Molly's absolutely gonna need to
10:28carry the both of us because I don't know what I've got to offer aside from carrying my own backpack at
10:33this moment I feel sick now let's go to San Salvador we know it's a good transport hub and then we'll work
10:41out a plan all right yeah yeah it will be all right okay found it you found it right there it's in
10:50Honduras well done Dylan perfect the coastal routes I am a bit worried about being on boats and seasick let's
10:59go inland again then yeah it's more north that checkpoint whereas if we're going south it might
11:04be a bit tougher to get off it doesn't more direct one that we want to go ahead of some people so this
11:09looks like the quickest route to me yeah also maybe we can try and find something that we could just share
11:15together and experience together yeah and that'll be special yeah it'd be nice to go to an actual
11:20beautiful town so Suchitoto is here it's on the waters near the water that sounds fun okay okay let's
11:30try and find a bus he's off again my son quick March Dylan and Jackie plan to use the capital for quick
11:40onward connections north to Suchitoto in the mountainous heartland oh there's a bus it might not be the
11:48white one it says San Salvador there on the bottom right really good that one on the road yeah we need
11:57to catch up to catch up with everyone oh my days plays a right off this the bus I think this is the bus
12:06that this or not you're gonna have to carry us I'm sorry yeah you're my hero I know just 15 minutes
12:24further east as dusk descends do we want to find a bus that got us a little bit further down the coast or do we find
12:31somewhere to stay here a cheap hostel
12:33let's go let's go my home
12:34hey do you speak English
12:36we'd like to get to Le Union yeah is it possible to get a bus from here to Le Union yeah you can take a bus or
12:44taxi from here to Le Union and you do it on the way for a beach do you think we're better off finding a cheap hostel here
12:51but tonight yeah you can do it in today it was in an hour yeah yeah okay thank you so much my man
12:59really appreciate it thank you thank you nice to meet you stop staring at him I'm all in love we'll stay
13:11anywhere now great this is a classic us move we've only gone 10 minutes down the road and stop
13:22wow look at the color of the sky oh this is nice that's the checkpoint over there we could have walked
13:34we could have just walked really beautiful here what are you smiling at him for I don't know just
13:40distracted you were like hey everyone here is outrageously good looking yeah can you do the rest
13:48of the race on your own I don't know how you do it sometimes you know we're in this race you're
13:57trying to find somewhere to stay and you're still able to just go oh look we're on holiday oh there's
14:01some fit guys or something like that I just feel like life is so short and I want to know that I've
14:08really enjoyed it and I do try to actively be happy I do get jealous of that you know you feel it's a
14:17choice that you feel happy because I always think like you were born with like a happy level that's
14:23here and my ceiling was like here you know even with my tablets I can't fully get there do you know
14:33what I mean I've been on antidepressants for for over 15 years for me they help definitely you know
14:43for some people it's therapy for some people it's just going down to the pub and having a pint with
14:47their mates like that can be their thing it's not one shoe fits all I've been through some horrible
14:54times but I've made the decision now to to come off them um because I feel like I'm in a good place in
15:01life now that I'm at a point where I've stopped taking the antidepressants it's trying to discover
15:07what my actual emotions are and don't get me wrong they really helped me through a really bad
15:14part of my life yeah but I've not known since I was 15 who I am do you know what I mean like what
15:21what makes me sad or what makes me emotional or what makes me happy yeah but I I'm finding it hard
15:30I'm discovering like panic attacks again or like anxiety attacks like doing something like this
15:36for me is such a test of how I'm going to react emotionally prior to this trip I guess I just
15:47thought you were just a bit of a worrier for the sake of worrying and I know it's only been a couple of
15:58weeks but I do feel like I'm really getting to understand you better I do massively appreciate
16:06that you've been much more understanding of my thought process yeah because I know it can be
16:11confusing I we just haven't spent this much time together yeah thank you have a safe trip thank you
16:25so much having hitched a free ride Molly and Tyler are halfway to the capital and planning to restrict
16:33expenditure with some creative tactics it's either available or not right yeah the greens available but
16:43how do we pay please connect three hours 11.99 our additional 4.99 and there's a condom
16:52nice catch I now suddenly don't want to stay on this bed wait there's a music button
17:00are you killing me
17:03babe don't even get a hug I will throw up on you I promise you now I feel like death
17:13just grateful that we've got a bed to rest in tonight Molly's doing a phenomenal job in looking
17:18after me but I can't make decisions so it's not an ideal situation considering how close the teams
17:25are on the leaderboard right now at least like you've got a little bit of vomit around your mouth
17:30where you need to blow your nose there's a tissue dispenser right
17:33I love us
17:34you're happy dog
17:50Honduras today
17:52Honduras
17:53Honduras and a nice coffee
17:56having traveled only 11 kilometers this leg Roman and harley moon are making an early start aiming for the port of la
18:05union to get to Honduras as quickly as possible
18:12and now we wait
18:16Dad I'm like a kid on Christmas Day whilst Anita and Bal are more than halfway across El Salvador on their way to
18:24Conchagua volcano I'm really looking forward because I've never been on volcano have you ever slept in a tent
18:30never I slept in somebody's garage I was a little bit tipsy then didn't know where I was
18:38Start to come out of the city a bit more now
18:42130 kilometers behind them and leaving San Salvador Dylan and Jackie are heading for the mountains of Cordillera del Balsamo
18:50Seeking a taste of tradition
18:52I want to try one of those rucousas
18:54Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
18:56It's meant to be a local El Salvadoran dish
18:59Sounds good
19:00Okay, San Salvador
19:03All right
19:04Finally reaching the capital
19:06Molly and Tyler need to plan their next move
19:09Let's get the map out
19:11Because last night we were in no state to make a plan
19:14No, still don't feel 100%
19:16I can't lie, but like going long distance
19:19It's a bit treacherous
19:20Yeah
19:21Like one of the things like this
19:22I understand
19:23So I feel like if we rest up today
19:25Taking a bit of San Salvador
19:27Then when we feel 100%
19:29We can absolutely just go for the checkpoint
19:31Just bears it
19:32Yeah
19:33It's fine
19:34Today is my day to make some decisions for the both of us
19:37And yeah, just lead us in the right direction
19:41Feels like a little pressure today
19:43There is a lake called Lake Ilopango
19:48Yeah
19:49Just outside of San Salvador
19:50I feel like I'm quite a confident person on like the surface
19:55But deep down I have a lot of doubt
19:58And that comes in when I'm making decisions
20:01Because you don't want to make the wrong one
20:03That sounds the perfect plan of what I need right now
20:06Let's go
20:07School
20:08I definitely think it's because I started in this industry so young
20:13That all my decisions were always discussed with management, my parents
20:18I wasn't allowed to be independent
20:20I was always very, like, sheltered before
20:22This one
20:23It's too packed
20:24There's no seats
20:25I'm going to make an executive decision
20:27That the buses that come through here are all going to be too full
20:31Maybe we should just get a cab
20:33Okay
20:34Yeah
20:35Let's just do it
20:36I'll back it
20:37Alright
20:38We just need to negotiate the price
20:39I just want to be able to, like, trust my gut
20:41And my instincts a little bit more
20:43Excuse me, senor
20:45Quanto cuesta para Lago Iapango?
20:4920
20:50Dollars
20:51Who?
20:52What's 20?
20:5320 dollars
20:54Can you do, um, 10?
20:56No, um...
20:5710?
20:5810 dollars?
20:5915?
21:0010
21:0115?
21:0215?
21:03Why'd you back out of my 10?
21:04I don't know
21:05I've only got 10
21:08I don't... I can't do this stuff
21:10I don't like it
21:11We'll just swallow it and we'll take it
21:1315
21:1415?
21:1515?
21:1615?
21:17Yeah?
21:18Gracias
21:20Right, you ready?
21:22I'm not mad at you, babe
21:28I'm sorry for biting
21:30I appreciate you looking after me
21:33Okay
21:34Okay
21:39195 kilometres to the east
21:42Wow!
21:44Oh!
21:45You are not kidding me
21:48The volcano of Conchagua
21:52A name taken from the indigenous Lenka people
21:55Meaning flying jaguar
21:58Formed by two stratovolcanoes
22:01The summit soars to over 1200 metres
22:04Offering unparalleled views of the Bay of Fonseca on the Pacific Ocean
22:09This doesn't look real
22:10It doesn't
22:11Well, it looks like a painting
22:12It's one of those moments when you're like, am I actually here?
22:16Surrounded by a coastal forest
22:18Home to numerous exotic avian species
22:22Including El Salvador's national bird, the mot mot
22:27What a place to say you did your first camping experience
22:30There's a door here but
22:31How do you get into the door?
22:32Oh, there's a zip here
22:33Flippy leg
22:34I'm on some planks here at the moment
22:36I think I need a mattress
22:37But, I tell you something
22:39A view from here is amazing
22:45And I hope it doesn't tickle
22:47Oh my God
22:48You look like a boy scout, Dad
22:50Oh yes, with a boggle
22:52Very old boy scout
22:54King gang golly golly
22:55King gang goo
22:56King gang goo
22:57King gang goo
23:00This is magnificent, isn't it?
23:02I feel quite at peace up here
23:04But when it's time to move
23:06I cannot explain how my brain works
23:09It just goes into
23:10Okay, let's figure out how we get from A to B
23:13And just make it happen
23:15I do the same sort of thing
23:16I'm always thinking
23:17Two steps ahead
23:18Two steps ahead
23:19Yeah, same
23:20The way you brought us up
23:22There was no time for rest
23:23It was like
23:24Get up
23:25Do
23:26Get up and do something
23:27Don't waste the day
23:29It's a mindset
23:30It's a mindset
23:31And part of me is like that
23:32Because I've seen you and Mum work really hard
23:35We're an immigrant community
23:36We came here with nothing
23:38Yeah
23:39Weren't you one of the first Indian families in Bradford?
23:43In your back-to-back house, in your cobbled street
23:45Cobbled street, yeah
23:46And tin bath
23:47Yeah
23:48I mean, my grandad, how much money did he have when he came from India?
23:50Nothing
23:51That was like 1950s
23:52Yeah, and couldn't speak any English
23:54Yeah
23:55And also, you worked really hard
23:56Well, we wanted you to be better than us
23:58And not struggle as hard as we did
24:00And have a better life
24:02Yeah
24:03I grew up in a very aspirational household
24:06One thing I was given by my parents is that I was just made to believe that I could achieve anything
24:11But also, there is this huge expectation that if you're going to do something
24:14You better do it to the best of your ability
24:16There was a lot of expectation to not let everyone down
24:19And I guess everything about me is about showing that actually I am fully capable
24:26But yeah, that gets exhausting
24:29I feel like I'm in a race with myself
24:31Yeah
24:32Just a constant race
24:34What's the end goal?
24:35Exactly
24:36I feel like I've never really known what the end goal is other than just keep going
24:40And I think there's more to me than just someone who wants to achieve
24:43Maybe be more compassionate towards myself
24:46And that's it
24:47We know how hard you've worked to get to where you are
24:49Yeah
24:50And we're proud of that
24:51Thanks, Dad
24:52Nice chat
24:53Yes, it is
24:54Yeah, why not? We haven't chat like this for ages
24:57Ever?
24:58Yeah
24:59Do you know what's going to do it?
25:00That sunrise tomorrow morning
25:02Yeah
25:03Wow
25:08Oh my days
25:10Aww
25:11Miles is perfect
25:13Also in pursuit of some respite from the race
25:16Molly and Tyler are just outside the capital at Lake Ilopango
25:21This is unreal
25:23I've never seen anything like it
25:29A vast volcanic caldera with a depth of more than 230 metres
25:34I just can't get over the fact this is in the middle of a volcano
25:37It was formed over 1500 years ago by the Tierra Blanca Hoven eruption
25:42Which blanketed the whole of Central America in ash
25:45Are you feeling better after yesterday?
25:48Yeah, I feel like this is the bitter piece we needed
25:51With their strength returning
25:53Buenos dias
25:54They spot a chance to ease their money worries
25:57These boats
25:58These boats need cleaning, right?
25:59Yeah
26:00Do we put our flip flops on?
26:02Yeah, that makes sense
26:04I reckon we do all high surfaces first and then we'll do the floor after
26:08Yeah?
26:09Yeah
26:10Sounds like we're in our kitchen
26:11Miles, I can't lie
26:13I think you've absolutely smashed this
26:15Choosing to come here
26:16When we're not really feeling 100%
26:18Is the best thing that we could have done
26:21I know today didn't seem like a big decision
26:25But it's just like
26:26I don't want to ever be the reason we're not progressing or something
26:29Yeah
26:30If you were to make a decision, yeah
26:32And we don't progress in the race
26:33What, like the world's not ending
26:35Yeah, I know
26:38Even earlier when we were bartering for that taxi
26:42The knock-on that scares me
26:44It's like
26:45We could have had five more dollars for our budget
26:48That now we don't have
26:49And then I think
26:50Oh no, does that mean
26:51We won't eat as well today?
26:52Or
26:53Or will we not be able to get anywhere else today?
26:55You know
26:56It's just my
26:57I just spiral
26:58Yeah, I don't want to let anyone down
27:00You could never let me down
27:02I guess
27:03Making the wrong decision
27:04In a place that's so public
27:06Is really
27:07It's exaggerated
27:08Like it's blown up
27:09Yeah
27:11I know that this industry is so
27:13Like cutthroat
27:14And so if I make the wrong decision
27:17You can lose it all in a heartbeat
27:19And I feel like that definitely plays on my mind all the time
27:23I always feel a little bit like
27:26You know, an imposter
27:27And like, I don't know
27:29I just feel like
27:30Is it all down to luck?
27:32And actually
27:33I don't think so
27:34I don't think so
27:35I think like you decided
27:37To carry on pursuing a career
27:39And doing the things that you want to do
27:40You decided to go for an audition and start acting
27:43True
27:44I think my fear comes from
27:46The fact that I've been handed such an amazing card
27:49To be able to like
27:50Live a dream career from so young
27:53That you feel like
27:55Surely this is gonna run out soon, this luck
28:01Also though
28:02Think about how many good decisions you've made in your lifetime
28:07Compared to the bad decision
28:08True
28:09You completely
28:10Like the balancing scales are outweighed entirely
28:12You've made some wicked decisions since we've been out here
28:15I'm proud of you
28:16Thank you
28:17What's great about the race is that you can see when a decision pays off
28:20And when it doesn't
28:21And I think that's quite reassuring
28:22I feel like
28:23I'm growing
28:24With the race
28:25Look at that
28:26That is cleanest boat in the whole of El Salvador
28:27Just woke up from being half asleep and thought
28:30Are we going all the way to La Union for a boat
28:33And we don't even know the boat timetables?
28:34Having travelled over the boat
28:35Eight hours across the country
28:37Roman and Harley Moon are approaching the transport hub of San Miguel
28:59Where the road forks
29:00South to the port of La Union
29:02or north to El Amatillo, the main land border crossing.
29:07Some were then wondering if we'd get out of San Miguel
29:10and head to El Amatillo to try and cross the border today.
29:13Is this San Miguel? Yeah.
29:15I think we should do it. OK, jump out? Yeah.
29:20In the midst of anxiety, we have jumped off the bus.
29:24Roman was feeling like we should get off,
29:27and we can find ten minutes to regroup.
29:29It was a decision of, let's stop and reassess,
29:34because there's a fork in the road that goes to this border
29:39or to La Union.
29:42In a panic, I just kind of said, right, let's just get to that fork
29:45and figure out which one we're going to take.
29:47How long from here to La Union?
29:51Like...
29:53What time? One hour. One hour?
29:55At La Union,
29:57I'm sorry to pull us off. Yeah.
30:10If I thought we were going to cross the border in the north,
30:12I'd say, yeah, but the fact that I don't know if we will...
30:16What, by sundown? Yeah, I just don't think we will.
30:19Your gut's telling you La Union. I'll go with you.
30:22Yeah? Yeah, I'll go with you.
30:24Worst-case scenario, if tomorrow there's no boat,
30:26we might even be able to jump in another bus that takes us off.
30:28Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's do it, then.
30:30Right, let's start again.
30:32OK. So we're back on the same route.
30:36This whole race is such a game of, have I made the right choice?
30:41And unfortunately, I'm not a very good choice maker.
30:44The hardest thing is realising that you are going to have to stop and go to bed.
30:48You know, you just want to be there now.
30:50But it's that thing of being OK with the fact that we're going to stay in La Union tonight,
30:55but we're going to do everything we can to get away from there as quickly as possible tomorrow.
31:01Nestled in the Northern Highlands, overlooking the Lempa River, Suchitoto,
31:12an ancient Aztec word meaning the place of flowers and birds.
31:16It's a sweet town, isn't it? Really pretty.
31:19Deeply scarred from its days as a battleground in the Civil War,
31:23the city used to sit close to the guerrilla groups fighting the government in the surrounding jungle.
31:28Dylan, have this.
31:31Today, it's a more tranquil town,
31:33drawing visitors to its colonial architecture and vibrant markets.
31:38Look at all the different herbs and spices.
31:40Look at the cinnamon here, Dylan. How long it is?
31:43Oh, wow.
31:44I use cinnamon sticks in our Christmas pudding ice cream, don't I?
31:47Oh, yeah, that's so nice.
31:48Yeah, with ginger biscuits and raisins and cream.
31:51I fancy some of that now, don't you?
31:52Oh, big time.
31:53No cooked chocolate cake, that's a good one.
31:56I won a gold medal for my Bakewell tart in the village.
31:59Pretty cool.
32:00Oh, this is just what we need.
32:04Yeah, it really is.
32:06Love for me came straight away with Dylan.
32:09I just adored him straight away.
32:11He was cheeky, up to mischief, all the time, with bows and arrows and water pistols.
32:17Ah, pupusas.
32:19P-p-p-p-pusa.
32:20P-p-pusa.
32:21P-p-pusa.
32:22He brought a lot of laughter.
32:23Whoop!
32:24Up until Dylan was 25 and left home, I knew him really well.
32:32But I think in the past eight years, he leads a different life.
32:36Gracias.
32:39Are you feeling hungry?
32:41I am pretty hungry.
32:42Maybe a nice spot for the sunset.
32:45Sometimes days can drift by and I don't hear from you and you just leave voice notes.
32:50Yeah, sorry about that.
32:51Yeah, yeah.
32:54I'm looking forward to visiting you in your new home and you cooking me a nice meal.
33:00This is maybe motivating me to get stuck in on some cooking.
33:04Mm-hmm.
33:05Hopefully I don't burn it.
33:08Isn't it lovely to share this moment together?
33:10Yeah.
33:11It's been beautiful really.
33:12Yeah.
33:13We don't have time like this enough together, do we really?
33:15We don't.
33:16At home.
33:19Try and do a selfie.
33:20Okay.
33:21I'm useless at selfies, so you better do it.
33:23Okay.
33:24I think with this journey, I'm going to get to know you as an adult.
33:27Is it all right?
33:28That's horrible.
33:29I'm going to try this side.
33:35Sharing and Dylan's life is very special and I love them to bits.
33:42I don't think one has enough moments where you can just sit quietly in life.
33:46Hmm.
33:47It's just quiet, isn't it?
33:48Yeah.
33:52Love you.
33:54You're beautiful.
33:59I love you.
34:00I love you.
34:01I love you.
34:02I love you.
34:03Bye.
34:04Bye.
34:06I'm sorry.
34:08I love you.
34:09Bye.
34:10Bye.
34:11Bye.
34:12Morning. Wow.
34:24That's how you do some press-ups. Top of a volcano.
34:29Dad, well done.
34:30You breathe in. Up, down, and then you step up and do another breathe in a little bit, and then exhale.
34:38I've been very chill up here. It might take me a minute to gear up again.
34:42It might take me a minute to gear up again.
34:46Anita and Bal are still 220km from the checkpoint and need to plot their exit strategy from El Salvador.
34:53Today. We're back. Back in, let's get to where we need to be.
34:57To the border. So we're going to Lamotillo, by road.
35:01Depending on how far the checkpoint is, because it looks near on the map, but we don't know what the journey is.
35:06If we can get there today. That's fantastic. Do your...
35:10No, this is me. This is me.
35:16Is that a moving bus? I'm going to catch that bus. Is that a moving truck? I'm going to catch that truck.
35:23Basically, get back into race mode.
35:25There isn't any way to look cool in a light vest. It's not quite the James Bond experience looking like this.
35:35Having prioritised leaving El Salvador quickly, Roman and Harley Moon are the first team to enter Honduras.
35:42This is what it's all about.
35:46Yesterday, there was a lot of anxiety around whether we've gone the right way, but look where we are. This is really special.
35:56Named by Europeans after the Archbishop Fonseca, a nemesis of Christopher Columbus, the Gulf is surrounded by three countries, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.
36:08Breathtaking to see it, and it's not like anything I've ever seen before. I feel like I'm in Jurassic Park.
36:13We could have gone bus to bus to bus to bus all the way around. It would have been stressful. We would have saved money, but this is my kind of travel.
36:27Gracias.
36:28The largest Pacific Island in Honduras. Tiger Island was established as a major port by the Germans in the late 19th century.
36:39Today, it is a peaceful fishing community and receives scant foreign visitors.
36:46You're just worried about changing money.
36:48Yeah.
36:49Hola. Habla Inglés.
36:52Oh, my God, this is brilliant, changing the money in here, just in someone's living room.
36:56Maria de Jesus.
36:57Maria de Jesus.
36:58Para servirles.
36:59Si, Roman.
37:01Roman.
37:01Ah, no problem.
37:04Bienvenidos al lugar, que la disfruten, que vayan a pasear a conocer todos los momentos de Amapal.
37:12No hablo español, pero de Dona, si, si.
37:16Is eh, es eh, es eh, posible.
37:20Er, cambio a US dollar?
37:23A change 50?
37:2450, yeah.
37:25I love this. I love the whole set up.
37:272,400 and something.
37:30You happy with that?
37:31Yeah.
37:32Okay.
37:33Vivian.
37:34Adios.
37:35Adios.
37:36Banastias.
37:39I'm really looking forward to it.
37:41I'm hoping we're going to have a nice day on Tiger Island.
37:45Are you ready?
37:46Are you ready?
37:47Are you ready?
37:48Just stop.
37:50This is a bus.
37:51They're all 15.
37:52I hope they're all going to the same place.
37:54Fully recovered, Molly and Tyler are planning to cross into Honduras at the El Amatillo border via the transport hub of San Miguel.
38:03San Miguelito.
38:05Easy.
38:06Checkpoint couldn't feel any more real.
38:08Oh, it's so close today.
38:11Do we know for definite that San Miguelito is San Miguel?
38:17I don't, but I've seen every bus say San Miguelito, San Miguel, San Miguelito.
38:23So I can only guess.
38:24It's the same.
38:26Desculpe.
38:27Is this San Miguel?
38:29This bus, San Miguel?
38:31Otro.
38:32Oh, another bus.
38:34It's not going.
38:35San Salvador.
38:36Oh, this is going San Salvador.
38:38Okay.
38:39Gracias.
38:40So it's not.
38:41Okay.
38:42We're going to rewind our confidence there.
38:44Then we're actually going back on ourselves.
38:45Yeah.
38:46I think we just need to get off.
38:47Okay.
38:48That's called moving quick.
38:49We're on the wrong bus.
38:50I feel like that was very good to talk to people.
38:51Well done.
38:52We need to get a bus from here to go that way.
38:53This is not a bus stop.
38:54That's a bus stop right there, no?
38:55No, but that's...
38:56I think we need to go that way.
38:57Not that way.
38:58Okay.
38:59Yeah.
39:00San Miguel.
39:01San Miguel.
39:02San Miguel.
39:04San Miguel.
39:05San Miguel.
39:06San Miguel.
39:08I mean, that's why we're a good team, because we have the calm, need all the information,
39:25that person.
39:26And the storm.
39:27And the storm.
39:28I'm the storm.
39:31Only 50 kilometres behind and aiming for the same border.
39:35We have had a good journey so far.
39:38I think we can get a checkpoint.
39:40What's day?
39:42No.
39:43Why not?
39:44Come on to the border.
39:49Inching ahead.
39:51Please don't stop.
39:53Oh, he's stopping.
39:55Oh, he's stopping.
39:56He's stopping.
39:57He's stopping.
39:58Yeah.
39:59The bus is broken.
40:02He's just asked us to push the bus to give it a jump start.
40:05Are you ready?
40:06Yeah.
40:07I guess so.
40:08I'm here for moral support.
40:09Is it on?
40:10Yay!
40:11All right.
40:12Was that not the most attractive thing you've ever seen me do?
40:27Yeah.
40:29It was pretty fit, to be fair.
40:30He better not stop again.
40:32Otherwise, I'm walking to the border again.
40:34Told you.
40:35Positivity.
40:36Yeah.
40:37What's come over you, Dylan?
40:38I don't know.
40:39We could do this.
40:40First place.
40:41What?
40:42Second place, maybe.
40:43Third.
40:44It's just somewhere it does not last.
40:45Yeah.
40:46Why does it stop costing me more minutes?
40:49Amatillo.
40:50Amatillo.
40:51Si.
40:52Okay, let's go.
40:53Amatillo.
40:54Si.
40:55One dollar.
40:56One dollar.
40:57Oh, my God, no.
40:58What?
40:59It's Dylan and Jackie.
41:00It's Dylan and Jackie.
41:01No.
41:02Which bus?
41:03This bus?
41:04This bus?
41:05For each one.
41:06Oh, my God, no.
41:07What?
41:08It's Dylan and Jackie.
41:09It's Dylan and Jackie.
41:10No.
41:11Which bus?
41:12This bus?
41:13This bus?
41:14For each one.
41:15Miles, just pretend to sleep.
41:16Just duck down.
41:17Okay.
41:18Vamos.
41:19Vamos.
41:20No, it's vamos.
41:21Just us.
41:22Vamos.
41:23Ah.
41:24No way.
41:25Fancy seeing you guys here.
41:26Oh, man.
41:27They're probably a bit annoyed seeing us.
41:29Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
41:40If our two teams are here, where's the other two teams?
41:46True.
41:51Come on.
41:52Run.
41:58Oh, no.
41:59Is that another team?
42:00Yeah.
42:01Oh, Dad, look.
42:02Look.
42:03Look.
42:04Yes.
42:05Oh, my God.
42:07There's another team as well.
42:09Molly and Tyler.
42:10No way.
42:11Where are they?
42:12Molly and Tyler.
42:13Hi, Mel.
42:14Are you following us?
42:15Well, we had to be.
42:16You've been winning the whole thing.
42:19That means they've caught up with the three-hour head start.
42:22Yes, they have caught us up.
42:24Yeah, definitely.
42:25Yeah.
42:26Right.
42:27Should we go to that bus?
42:28Just ask for the bus to stop.
42:29We'll go find out, Dad.
42:30Now in Honduras, just 170 kilometres stands between three teams in the checkpoint along the one road that crosses the sun-baked plains of the Pacific lowlands.
42:41With nightfall approaching, they need to find a place to bend down.
42:45Tonight, we need to sleep somewhere halfway.
42:48Hotel?
42:49There's a hotel in Hicaragua.
42:50Yeah, Hicaragua.
42:51Yeah, you can go with this, with this bus.
42:53All right, let's do it.
42:54Donde es una hora from aquí?
42:58Nakaome.
42:59Nakaome.
43:00Nakaome.
43:01It's Anita and Ben.
43:03Follow them.
43:04Fancy seeing you.
43:06I think there's space on this bus.
43:09Oh, it's quite a cosy bus.
43:11Not to tour it.
43:13Off we go, Dad.
43:14It must be such a sore feeling to have such a lead.
43:18It's just not quite a leader anymore.
43:21Just 70 kilometres to the south.
43:29I think this has been such a welcome little stop, even if it was just to clear our heads a little bit.
43:36Yeah.
43:37You know what we need to do tonight?
43:39All right.
43:40Find out how to get out of here.
43:41Yeah.
43:44We are in a race.
43:46OK.
43:47Tomorrow, we need to get back into the mainland.
43:51We're headed towards Valle de Angeles.
43:53Oh, Valle de Angeles.
43:54You can take the boat from here.
43:56All right.
43:57That one is a little bit expensive.
43:58OK.
43:59But we go fishing tomorrow morning.
44:01And after fishing, we can take you from here.
44:03Yeah?
44:04We'd be so grateful.
44:05No, that's OK.
44:06It will help our budget, so I really appreciate it.
44:08Cheers.
44:09Salud.
44:10Salud.
44:12Salute.
44:14Right, let's go to the beach.
44:15Woo-hoo!
44:17That's it.
44:18Let's shake off our stress.
44:20What are we doing?
44:21We've got nothing to worry about.
44:24We're happy and healthy, and life is amazing.
44:31I just feel a bit awkward doing that.
44:33I don't know.
44:34Woo-hoo!
44:36What am I meant to be doing?
44:37Feeling happy.
44:40I don't know.
44:41I get embarrassed about feeling happy.
44:42Just say, I'm so happy!
44:44Woo-hoo!
44:45I'm not going to have anxiety tomorrow!
44:46Not going to have anxiety tomorrow!
44:47Take it out of your body!
44:48Ah!
44:49Ah!
44:50We're going to win the race!
44:51We're going to win the race!
44:52It's been a long time since, you know, Harley and I have just kind of been silly together.
45:09And it helped.
45:10Being able to be silly with her is kind of a special moment.
45:15The more she's understanding how my brain works, the more she's trying to help me and not push me away, which is a massive, massive breakthrough in our relationship.
45:26Feel alright?
45:27Yeah, I'm alright.
45:28You're doing a good job in life!
45:29I'm doing a good job in life!
45:30I'm doing okay!
45:31I'm doing a good job in life!
45:32I'm doing a good job in life!
45:33I'm doing okay!
45:34Have a good night's sleep, guys!
45:38Oh, the first to jump!
45:39Yeah!
45:40Are these guys getting off too?
45:41What do they know that we don't?
45:42Good luck to you!
45:43Night, guys!
45:44The plot thickens!
45:45As darkness falls, two teams stop for the night.
45:46But following the trail of a tip-off, Anita and Bal push on.
46:01Inshallah!
46:02Oh, brilliant!
46:03Well done!
46:04I swear I saw someone in a red T-shirt go into the room on the corner.
46:11Yeah, I swear I saw a bag.
46:13It's too close, my old.
46:15I don't.
46:16I might shower now, put my clothes on, sleep upright with my bag on.
46:23We just...
46:25It's game time.
46:28It's an incredible feeling to catch up with Anita and Bal.
46:33Absolutely shocked.
46:34I'd love to see Dylan's face if we did win.
46:37He just wouldn't believe it.
46:39I am thinking what's happened with Anita and Bal, because they stayed on.
46:44They looked a bit worried whether they'd done the right decision.
46:48Wow, Dad.
46:50Doesn't look like this much here.
46:52Six kilometres closer to the checkpoint.
46:55Hola, amigo.
46:56Hotel, aquí?
46:57Si.
46:58No, no, no.
46:59That's where everybody go home.
47:00No, no hotel.
47:01No, there's no hotel here.
47:02Hotel.
47:03Hotel.
47:04Hotel.
47:05So now we're here, standing on a one-horse town, with no hotel.
47:18So we're going back there.
47:20What if there's no rooms left?
47:335.15am.
47:34This must be how Usain Bolt fell on the qualifiers for the Olympics.
47:41I just really want to get out of last.
47:45130 kilometres south of the checkpoint.
47:48Oh, I see people up the top, Mum.
47:50I think that's Dylan and Jackie.
47:52Oh, I think that's...
47:54Is it?
47:55Yeah.
47:56That's one block.
47:57That's the second.
47:58What's that?
47:59Anita and Bal.
48:00So they probably had to go back on themselves.
48:03Funny.
48:04We did make the right call.
48:05Yeah, yeah, yeah.
48:06Stopping off here.
48:07All right.
48:08Morning.
48:09Morning.
48:10We just didn't hear last night, yeah?
48:12Yeah, we did.
48:13The hotel was supposed to be there.
48:14We got to it.
48:15They said it's so...
48:16It's gone.
48:18Then we came back here.
48:19Jackie and Dylan are already here.
48:21And then...
48:22Anita and Bal pull up.
48:24So they didn't get much further, did they?
48:26Whoa!
48:27What?
48:29I've never seen you like this in the morning.
48:32Look, it is what it is.
48:34We're just going to have to be in the foot race.
48:40But Roman and Harley could already be there.
48:43Yeah.
48:47What time do you want to call it?
48:5320 past?
48:54Yeah.
48:55Yeah.
48:57The boat that's meant to be taking us is still not back.
49:02Christian has gone fishing.
49:05And if he's late, we're screwed.
49:08He said he'd be back to come and collect us to go to Coyolito.
49:12I wouldn't want to try and go into the town and panic and go.
49:15And realistically, even if we go into the town, it will take some time to find one.
49:20I'm like...
49:22The more hours we're losing, it's wrecking my nerves.
49:26Come on, man.
49:28Come on, don't let us down.
49:29Don't let us down.
49:32It's getting tight.
49:33This is not an ideal situation.
49:38Okay.
49:39Roman?
49:40Yeah?
49:41There is a boat.
49:42There's a boat.
49:44There's a boat.
49:46Is it for Coyolito?
49:47Yes.
49:48Is it for Coyolito?
49:49Yes.
49:50Harley, let's go.
49:51Yeah.
49:52Yeah.
49:54Oh, the relief.
49:56That was high anxiety.
49:58I'm not going to lie.
49:59I think just standing and waiting for anything is, like, the worst feeling in this race.
50:04It's más rápida.
50:05Sí.
50:07I've got Hawkeyes and I can see a yellow bus on the horizon, right?
50:12Yeah, I can see it.
50:13Get ready to run.
50:14Yeah.
50:16All right, let's go.
50:18All right, quick.
50:19Let's go.
50:20Go, go, go, go, go.
50:21Dad, Dad, let's go, let's go.
50:24Yeah, yeah, sir.
50:27The Valley of Angels, nestled amongst the pine forests of the Honduran Highlands, a colonial
50:34mountain town, and the third checkpoint of the race.
50:39Come on, Dad, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
50:43Travel by Tuk Tuk, locate the Buena Venus of Valle de Angelis sign.
50:47I'm going to wait for the instructions.
50:48Come on, Dad.
50:49Gracias.
50:50Gracias.
50:51Excuse me, senor, senor, senor.
50:52We need to get in here.
50:56Go, go, go, go.
50:57I think we might be ahead of the Lord.
50:59Come on.
51:01All right.
51:02Go, go, go, go.
51:03Vamos, vamos, vamos.
51:04Vamos, vamos.
51:05Yes, bro, yes, bro.
51:06Come on, come on, come on, my brother.
51:08Woo!
51:09Vamos, ah!
51:10Let's go!
51:12Rapid, go, go, go.
51:14Rapid.
51:15Hey, vamos!
51:16And here we go, Scooby Gonzales.
51:17I thought we were in an action.
51:18I thought we were in an action.
51:19I thought we were out of the world.
51:20I thought we were, like, a James Bond girl.
51:23We're out.
51:24Here we go.
51:25See you on.
51:26We're out.
51:27Here you go, see you on.

51:38On foot.
51:39Follow the road.
51:40Take the first right past the Villas-Lenar.
51:42Continue into the town and locate the bandstand in the main square.
51:45Right.
51:46Come on, Dad.
51:47Follow.
51:48It's right here, Dan.
51:49Is it?
51:50Yeah?
51:52We're good.
51:53We're good, we're good, we're good.
51:54Right, come, let's go.

51:59Si?
52:00Gracias.
52:01Go, go, go, go.
52:02Do you want to run or not?
52:03No.
52:04No, no, no, no.
52:05No, let's not.
52:06Oh, they're caught up already.
52:10We've got to continue on to the bandstand in the main square.
52:13Hola.
52:14Disculpe.
52:15Villas-Lenar.

52:55We knew there would be hills.
52:57Oh.
52:58I personally think it's back there.
53:00Take the first right.
53:01Pass.
53:02Oh, my God.
53:03You're right.
53:04Soldier.
53:05It was up there.
53:06Whipping egg.
53:07Whipping egg, Dad.
53:08You were right.

54:31Give it a go.
54:39This leg went from the worst to the best.
54:44Best possible outcome.
54:45I'm so proud of us right now.
54:46That was because of a two stone lighter.
54:48That's what I'm talking about.
54:50Molly, absolutely.
54:51She has been my guiding star, this leg.
54:54And also proved that she is a boss at making decisions.
54:59I think slowly but surely, I am getting more confident with my decision making.
55:04I think I'm showing myself like each time if I just push myself a little bit more, how
55:09much it does pay off.
55:11It's good going from us.
55:13Good.
55:14Gracias.
55:15I'm proud of you.
55:19Did really well.
55:20You okay?
55:21I think we lost it again.
55:22Oh, we were directed the wrong way.
55:23I think they're all ahead of us.
55:24I think we lost it again.
55:25We mustn't give up, Dylan.
55:26Yeah.
55:27I don't know.
55:28Let's go right here.
55:29Let's go right.
55:30There, there, there.

55:42We did well.
55:43We did well.
55:44I know we're going to be last again, but...
55:45Welcome, please.

55:55Come here, come here.
55:56We did well.
55:57We did well.
55:58I know we're going to be last again, but...
55:59Welcome, please.
56:02Yes!
56:03We're third!
56:04Come on!
56:05We're not last!
56:06We're not last!
56:07Yes!
56:08We're not last!
56:09Oh, dear.
56:10We're not last.
56:11That's brilliant.
56:12Come on.
56:13We went to a restaurant, didn't we?
56:14A restaurant.
56:15There's two.
56:16We smashed our hands on her book.
56:17Oh!
56:18We've got something to work with there, didn't we?
56:19We're not last.
56:20We're thinking it looks strange.
56:21Like, boom!
56:22And we're like, well, this isn't meant to be open, and it's small.
56:26Um, and, yeah.
56:27I was like, what?
56:29And she was like, what are you doing?
56:32Gracias.
56:35Ah, yes.
56:36Well done, Dylan.
56:37We're not last.
56:38Yes, guys!
56:39Yay!
56:40Well done, guys.
56:41You're so happy, Beast.
56:43Buzzing.
56:44There's no much between us and the other teams.
56:47There isn't.
56:48No, it's just not bad.
56:50Well done.
56:52Take you long enough!
56:54Well done.
56:57Literally neck and neck.
56:59Yeah.
57:00What happens next?
57:01We're all going to set off at the same time, so it's anyone's.
57:03Oh, I'm just wondering where Harley and Roman are.
57:06Where are Roman and Harley?
57:08Wherever they are, we hope they're all right.
57:10Yeah.
57:11But you're last.
57:12I would love to just come first once.
57:22You know?
57:23That would be, that for me would be amazing.
57:26I am getting there no matter what.
57:28Okay.
57:29Horse, cart, donkey, piggyback.
57:31All that nice moment that we had last night.
57:34Like, oh, I love my life, it doesn't matter anything, blah, blah, blah.
57:37That's gone.
57:38I love my life if I'm a winner.
57:40Right, right.
57:41Okay.
57:47Are you ready for the Costa Rican experience of a lifetime?
57:50Look at this place.
57:51It's a paradise.
57:52It's amazing.
57:53Rufan is love.
57:54No way.
57:55I think this has been the best day.
57:57Yes!
57:58Well, hold on.
57:59I'm so proud of you.
58:00You all right, dad?
58:01Yeah, yeah.
58:02You're gonna make me cry.
58:03Is that a scorpion?
58:04Maybe I'm due for a kiss on the lips, but let me tell you, it'll be shortly followed by kicking
58:07the nuts.
58:08I don't know how much I'm on the same page as you right now.
58:10I can't see him.
58:11This is really stressful.
58:13Like, really stressful.
58:16You have a flat.
58:17This is madness.
58:25You have a flat.
58:26Come on in.
58:28The water.
58:29The water is great.
58:30The water can only survive in the New York Times-
58:44Is your toME, and your toME ATP.
58:46Eventually, it's very thin.
58:48It's true.
58:48The blue cat was even before miten.
58:49All right.
58:50The black Corin khats for me.
