00:24500 years ago Spanish conquistadors invaded the Guatemalan rainforest
00:34Determined to conquer the local Maya people by brutal means
00:38Advancing gradually through impenetrable terrain for nearly 200 years until they reach the last stronghold and Flores pretend
00:47How do you feel about a rope bridge?

01:05God. Wow
01:08Today it's host to a friendlier arrival who have gained a 23-hour lead over the other teams
01:17This is miles but all this is jungle. We're heading into that somewhere. I know
01:21You're in front of me with a machete
01:24I'd do it. You know me. Yeah
01:28Do you think the others are worried about us? Yeah, that is gonna be the thing we have to be careful of
01:34Yeah, because there's a target on our back as long as we win this race
01:37We win this race
01:39Come on, dad
01:41We need to chill out
01:43This is exactly what we need
01:46After all the stress I'm gonna eat everything I see
01:48At the first checkpoint
01:51We knew I need someone for first
01:53It's Yorkshire. I'm telling you they got this way about
01:54As three teams enjoy restorative downtime
01:56We could be a deadly force because we've got nothing to lose. We're already lost so like a wounded animal
02:01pouncing ready to pouncing ready to pouncing ready to pouncing ready to pounce
02:03Come on dad, here we go
02:04Setting off in the lead
02:05Bonas veas
02:22Anita and Barla first to find out where they're heading next
02:29first to find out where they're heading next your answer shaking in here adrenaline here we go
02:37your second checkpoint is el zonte where's el zonte never heard of it i think we're
02:44heading to another country dad for safety reasons travel after dark is not allowed this leg
02:53across this region of central america increased trafficking and crime at night
02:58means it's only safe for all teams to travel in daylight okay we are going into some spicy
03:03territory then the race is on come on team whip it let's do it
03:12all right hell's on so i just asked somebody hola senor el zonte donde están ah gracias
03:21gonna issue zoom out okay san salvador's there so it's between there and there el zonte
03:28señor thank you muchas gracias okay 940 kilometers to the south el zonte in el salvador
03:39after a halt in the country's recent turbulent history the pristine coastline has begun to attract
03:45visitors this surfing mecca was nicknamed bitcoin beach after the town was an early adopter of accepting
03:53cryptocurrency as payment to get there teams could head for the caribbean taking advantage of the
04:00well-trodden but expensive tourist routes in southern belize or brave the less explored fertile valleys of
04:08western honduras
04:11alternatively they may choose to stay in guatemala
04:15a more direct but arduous routes through tropical jungle and across its precipitous volcanic highlands
04:23this looks like it could be a quick route yeah we know that they speak english in belize
04:27yes and then from there we can go down to honduras oh yeah we're crossing then one two three borders we're
04:36going to miss guatemala completely yeah and also belize is expensive
04:43this will be the longest we've ever spent together like intensely it would be wonderful just to get to
04:48know your parent you know you choose you choose come on we've come to guatemala yeah and we're then
04:54jumping back out of guatemala without seeing nothing so far yeah no no let's let's stick to guatemala
04:58we're not a family of communicators at all we're a family of doers right dad i think we've made our
05:03decision choosing to travel south through guatemala their most direct route is via the city of caban
05:11gateway to the central highlands well it's open yeah
05:18like two we're off something in the air
05:29i don't know what i said in the cielo said out because in the land here
05:33look a musa a lot of spiritus
05:35of our ancestors of the arqueological sites we invite our lakes
05:45back at the checkpoint the other three teams are preparing for the next leg of the race
05:56this is to clear your spirit your physical body your mind so you can receive our sacred medicine
06:02our sacred cacao to connect with the spirit of ish cacao beforehand there's the opportunity to take
06:09part in a ceremony to honor the goddess of the cacao tree ish cacao a revered figure in guatemalan mayan
06:15mythology we call upon your presence ish cacao ish cacao ish cacao here we are offering your drink to bring peace
06:23in their heart peace in their spirit believed to be the source of the plant's spiritual and healing
06:29properties participants ritually drink its liquid form similar in taste to raw hot chocolate as they
06:36meditate to seek her guidance you're gonna connect with the spirit of ish cacao ask her to receive the
06:43medicine this is a special moment for you to let go today anything that no longer you need to be carrying
06:49in your life in your heart in your mind then find peace and love
06:57when you're ready you can share
07:04i think it's really lucky to be able to have moments where you do stop and think about those
07:08things that have happened in your life but also to let go of the things that sometimes you hold on to
07:14i mean me personally i'd struggle to take those moments because i kind of don't want to because
07:19there's a lot of sadness attached to it yes that's in your safe box out the way to protect exactly yeah
07:24put it in a box and you haven't got to worry about it but it's really important to to have these moments
07:29you don't want to forget thank you it's important to connect you can share so i feel a sense of peace but
07:38connection to people i've lost in my life it brings me closer they're here always with us in other
07:49dimensions um me me and my mom lost to have someone closer um i lost my brother and my mom lost her son
08:00um his name is james and yeah i just wish i wish he could like take my place and do this do all this
08:11and travel world but he never got to
08:19my eldest brother james he um he took his life
08:23um when he was 20 i was 16. it just hit us all hard so hard
08:36doing this race is like doing it for my brother and my mom he would have loved to do something like
08:41this i think she'd like to have that kind of
08:46journey with the sun and i think i would have dreamt it for her to have that with james
08:51he's with you the whole time the whole time he was sat right here he'd be laughing at everything
08:59that that you know you're going to he lived life to the full he was so popular he had so many friends
09:09like he was he was my hero james was everything i wanted to be um with his confidence
09:18i really want to get out of my comfort zone and support my mom because i want to look after her
09:26on this trip because she deserves it he would be proud of me i think i know he's like he's with us
09:33with us yeah yeah he's really he's your guardian angel i know that yeah you guys are doing it for
09:38him you know yeah yeah he's racing with us yeah he's not doing very well
09:51i feel a sense of relief and release and um relaxed yeah actually we both feel sort of a zen
09:59now don't we yeah i wonder what we've got ahead oh my god oh i'm panicking again okay okay
10:17oh
10:21130 kilometers to the south anita and baal are making tracks towards kuban
10:26it's really really difficult to describe this i'm trying to soak soak it all in wherever you look
10:33it's actually green it's amazing
10:39um why are we stopping here has something happened does everybody come off here the road is closed
10:48because they're courtesy it's a three days process and no one can pass so we have to walk right
10:55the road is blocked we'll have to do some walking from here oh it's wet yeah let's do it across the
11:02country civil unrest is unfolding the gobierno emitio uncomunicado respecto a la implementación del
11:07seguro obligatorio is this the motivo for el que varias personas various ciudadanos
11:12están manifestan diferentes puntos de nuestro país in 45 días a partir de hoy todos los vehículos en
11:19guatemala deberán contar con un seguro obligatorio citizens who object to the proposed new law are
11:26blockading parts of the country's road network
11:31hang on what are all these guys doing is this the protest
11:35all right where do we get to coban how do we get there let's keep going we're going to be walking
11:40for a while south of the blockade the road is clear but the father daughter team need to find a
11:46connection to coban in the next town there's a bus right there dad go ban no i have to
11:55coban coban coban coban coban no
12:04god dad this is a right mission we need to seriously think about the fact that
12:09it's not going to be quick getting anywhere i just hope there is a bus what if there isn't a bus
12:16then what maybe we could hitchhike
12:29so
12:37el zante
12:37oh baby
12:39leaving the checkpoint just over 23 hours behind the leaders
12:43brother and sister roman and harley moon i think we should stay within guatemala
12:50i've got a real feeling yeah that this route from flores down to caban looks quicker my gut in terms
12:57of speed is saying head towards honduras and go down but we know it's not that expensive here yeah
13:03i trust you if you feel like you've got a gut feeling i've got a real i've got a real
13:08you feel it let's do it all right let's do it we've got a plan we've got a plan we're gonna do it
13:15we're gonna get there quicker than bow and Anita they can eat our dust
13:21unaware of the protests roman's guts decision is to take the most direct route through guatemala
13:26to save time and money i'm really glad that he's feeling confident because i think in the first leg
13:33he was quite anxious and so i'll sit back and let him drive it if it all goes wrong big sister
13:39will have to step in again you ready for a jungle yes chef can you see the others at all what you
13:46think the others will be coming in by boat now yeah okay we've got some catching up to do we've got
13:54a lot of catching up to do right nearly two hours behind the siblings get the old map out couple molly
14:01and tyler if we go east we could go via belize ah we can't miss out on the opportunity to go to
14:09the caribbean whilst we're on this race it makes sense it just makes too much sense and we could do
14:15a little stop at hopkins beach belize we can pick up a job down there this place looks cool work in the
14:22kitchen or on the restaurant floor local caribbean twists and on like a patty that's the food that we
14:27love and adore that is our heritage i love a patty me yeah food all my days foods like our love
14:33language experience some home-cooked caribbean food which is so close to our hearts oh yeah we go to
14:39places because we know food's gonna be wicked we'll be a little home away from home every team's gonna
14:44have a weakness ours is probably gonna be like trying not to spend money on food yeah don't blow the
14:50budget no right promise plan is via belize and then we go south stop off probably by the coast
14:57there's boats shortcut across the caribbean sea to honduras sorry that's a bit of a game changer
15:02i'd love that making a fast getaway from guatemala molly and tyler are taking a circuitous route via
15:09belize in the hope a quick dash across the sea to honduras will propel them towards the next checkpoint
15:16going back to our caribbean heritage means a lot to us and getting a little taste of the food the
15:22vibe the culture will be so special adios adios leaving the checkpoint in last place welcome to
15:32hell part two yeah dylan and jackie are trailing 30 hours behind the leaders the mother and son team
15:41also have the least money left having already spent over a quarter of their budget
15:48there could be a route through honduras maybe it doesn't look too bad i agree and see if there's
15:53any jobs around there yeah we we haven't done a homestay yet and it's something we're itching to do
15:59it's all been brief encounters with the locals and it'll be really lovely to make a nice connection
16:05yeah and that's going to help on our budget see how far we can get today it sounds like we're starting
16:10to get a plan here don't you think yeah i think i think we're cooking with gas yeah save money make
16:16money honduras that's a great catchphrase check it i feel like i'm getting some fire in my belly and
16:25like a bit more passionate we want to try and get back in the fight you know now let's get to the bus
16:31station run never seen dylan so energized dylan's plan to get as far as they can towards honduras before
16:39nightfall by traveling to the border town of morales hola hola here we go to have some sort of travel
16:49today is huge considering we're late out i wonder what you get in the water crap over an hour to the
16:58south roman and harley moon hey now what it's a crocodile no there's crocodiles there's crocodiles
17:09still unaware of the road blockade 70 kilometers away they are venturing to an island deep in the
17:14guatemalan jungle all right it's right in the jungle isn't it one of the region's last natural
17:23reserves punta de chimino is a vital habitat for an array of native wild animals seeking refuge from
17:30hunting and deforestation from the anteater to the ocelot yeah okay it's the tigers
17:41there's something about tigers say nature lovers can stay at the island's eco lodge can i get bug spread
17:50oh i'm getting absolutely bitten to shreds where budget conscious roman has agreed to work and return
17:56for bed and board sweeping jungle corridors i think it is i think it is
18:01i like to think that the dynamic between harley and i when we were growing up was classic
18:16younger brother older sister oh ratio yeah you ready ready three two one when we were kids i felt like i was
18:24the boss whenever we would play like batman and robin i was always robin holly yeah you want to say
18:31something yeah senior okay oh it's a dog oh roman was always a bit of a scared kid he didn't like to
18:42sleep in his own room i would be in bed and i would hear the creep of the door and feel him creep in the
18:50bed as quiet as he could and i would scare the crap out of him every sweep you think you see like a
18:58spider yeah i actually feel so guilty but i was mean to roman as an older sister i should have looked
19:06out for him i'll get the leaves out yeah you get the leaves out do you remember when we were kids
19:13what when you got your first job in a hairdressing salon i must have been about 12 or 11. you were
19:19sweeping hair and from that moment i thought oh my god i've got to catch up with her i know that if
19:27you have famous parents there's an air of people instantly judging you oh that so-and-so's kid nepo
19:36baby blah blah blah blah blah i think that actually drove me a little bit more to be a really hard
19:42worker i don't know if she knows this but harley was always the person that i looked up to the most
19:51i would see this person be so confident and as a young boy you're kind of looking and going wow like
19:57you know you're like a superhero i just felt like you set the standard for me that you need to work hard
20:05as possible because i don't disagree i trained you well i do appreciate it good
20:17sometimes i feel quite far apart from roman in our day-to-day lives
20:23and hearing that he did look up to me it's like a really heartwarming feeling
20:28here 240 kilometers to the south having navigated their way through the protest anita and bal are
20:38spending the night in the guatemalan highlands basically i need to leave really early in the
20:44morning at 6am well to can pass in principle roads there are more protests all day tomorrow and the
20:54whole of guatemala so nobody can drive tomorrow no that means the other teams will have the same
21:01problem yes so regardless unless they've gone through belize and honduras in which case they have the
21:06advantage
21:20in guatemala
21:28local protests have turned into a national uprising
21:31with all major highways blocked and violent clashes in the cities
21:40having just emerged from the jungle we need to move we need to get back in the race roman and harley
21:46moon are still only 65 kilometers from the first checkpoint whoa a national strike has been announced
21:55in guatemala and many major roads have been blocked for safety reasons your race will be paused this is
22:01an ongoing situation and an update will be issued later today okay all right we're in lockdown in
22:09guatemala to the south so basically we're trapped now a second team at a standstill so our advantage is
22:19no we can do so why worry about it there's part of me that's absolutely like you very philosophical
22:26about this because there's nothing we can do but there is another part of my brain that is very much um
22:31oh dear
22:34i think we're doing well this leg so far that was a good decision coming through yeah definitely
22:40having avoided the blockades in central guatemala dylan and jackie are in the clear approaching the border to
22:46honduras the second leg is all about underdogs coming back we're gonna clutch it that's uh it's a
22:54saying in uh in the gaming world where it's like you get the win against all odds you clutch it
23:05the second largest but one of the least visited countries in central america honduras
23:10it's incredibly humid very caribbean yeah it's lovely while belize relies on income from tourists
23:18this is a nation of agriculture
23:22profiting from bananas coffee sugar and cacao
23:29here we have some tools for you guys okay dylan and jackie have found work with farmer roley
23:35machete that's just for me we will behave yeah we have about 2500 trees wow really okay so you really
23:46have to hurry up known for its high quality and aroma honduran cacao is among the finest in the world
23:54go from tree to tree go on when harvesting the fruits must be picked before they become overripe
24:02or the flavor of the seeds is ruined never been like this before oh oh oh it's a dog
24:08cacao oh cacao oh cacao cacao
24:14i reckon roley's showing my mum the hot spot yeah i bet she's got more than me because she's great at
24:21gardening i i haven't found one yet i can't see them it's like doing where's wally or something i need a
24:29a bag where are you yeah coming
24:38i'm really hot no you don't sweat so you're not working hard enough oh my god okay otherwise we're
24:44losing the half of them anyways the good thing is you can't see that i'm having a little rest here
24:48how you getting on it's not easy is it to find them yeah i might have a sit down what's up do you
24:57think we should have to have a go a bit more or shall we get sacked and get on the race yeah we could
25:01we could get fired we could be like i quit i just hope he's not carrying a machete when we're talking to
25:10them oh i can hear something inside we've got a few more no the the other bag the other bag
25:22would it be okay to go now because we're actually racing against three other teams
25:26no we cannot just stop because otherwise i have to hire people to do the rest yeah okay noise okay
25:33okay let's go there's something different about reggae music we're chilling and nothing else matters
25:49right now 180 kilometers to the north molly and tyler freewheeling in belize
25:55the most diverse nation in central america a place where cultures meet to create a unique
26:04blend of music art and cuisine bro i'm hungry first we need to get to work boy hopkins is that
26:12way four miles right all right we'll try a hitchhike have you got any hitchhiking tips yeah
26:19not stand all together yeah yeah we got this don't worry we're going in front of the speed bump what a
26:24great tip that is a great tip are you serious are you for sure great going guys he might have space
26:36he's sped up he's sped up no okay this next car i believe
26:45oh we're getting vibes we're getting vibes hi it's going to hopkins beach no problem yeah there we go
26:54all right you are going to paradise what's your name marlon marlon yeah this is hopkins village a
27:01peaceful village our heritage is jamaican yeah what no respect man yeah so what do you do in england
27:08so i'm an actor and a singer what yeah music too i sing original really yeah oh my gosh you're so cool
27:30man and if you're born of belize and you love belize just say yeah yeah yeah yeah back in guatemala
27:41yeah do you know about what's happening with the strike maybe tomorrow is the same
27:48okay is there any way of finding out please can you check on the news yeah i would check thank you
27:56the capital is bad now a lot of traffic and everything is blocked there is no passage
28:01oh my god this is bad news right now what if it goes on for days what happens then is the race over for
28:08us it's hard to being far away from home in a new place where something's going on and you don't
28:15really know what it is you know we don't really know if it's safe for us to go outside yeah
28:20you've just got to remember to stay calm as soon as they say we can go it's going to be full
28:25adrenaline back on it's hard to know which of the teams will be actually in guatemala what if they
28:31went into belize what if they went into honduras you know
28:35you know what if they're going to be a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a
28:46small coastal paradise hopkins beach is the cultural center of the garifuna people
28:53a mixed heritage community that emerged in the 17th century after liberated west african
28:59slaves from a shipwreck intermarried with the indigenous people of the caribbean
29:08chef ty in the building at the heart of the community a beachside restaurant
29:13and it's for that the double yeah yeah okay where molly and tyler are working up an appetite
29:19and these are to go yeah and that'll be a bit of salad right now that looks phenomenal it is you should
29:24like right here right there right there here's your jerk chicken and here's your shrimp with coconut
29:29rice thank you they've got jerk chicken i'm so ready to taste it at the end of my shit
29:37this is all like the caribbean food that means so much to us you know it's food for the soul come
29:43on let me taste this oh hey load me up another one of those that is so good feel at home now
29:54taste test go for it
30:00it's nice isn't it it's creamy it's nice that's unbelievable did you make this plantain yep pounded
30:05it myself i didn't know you could cook like that oh my god i never expected this to be of what it
30:12felt like in essentially central america no it definitely has that feel of acceptance
30:18in belize everyone's just blending it's in there yeah that feels quite special heritage and culture
30:25is super important to me i am jamaican and english i went to my nan and granddad's every weekend
30:32my granddad being the jamaica one and like i i was playing dominoes from a very young age i feel like
30:38that was my little connection to jamaica me and you we've always been able to relate when it comes to
30:43how we struggled growing up mixed race you were never black enough to belong and white enough to
30:48not take offense especially in the uk i always felt like i had to prove to people that i was mixed or i
30:54was jamaican i'd walk down the street with my dad and people would look at us a bit funny and it was
31:02only when i got older that i realized they were just confused as to why like this mixed race man had
31:07like a blonde pale baby you know yeah my dad's side's from jamaica but it was only until like i
31:13was in my teens did i start asking those sort of questions i always struggled with like identity and
31:19race because my mum and dad um sort of split when i was six months so my mum just brought me and my
31:27brother up on our own um in south london it was quite racist at some points i didn't see many other like
31:36when you look around i don't see really like many mixed race people around i was just intrigued
31:41every single time i'd go through like brixton or curious when i was curious i was like oh my days
31:45and that was it i definitely don't want my kids growing up having to question their identity they
31:52have to be sure who they are you know now i'm so proud to be a mixed race i feel like i've got the
31:57best of both worlds you know yeah oh i wish we could spend longer on the beach i know we've got a
32:07race to carry on with i love you babe i love you too
32:19adios thank you let's get out of here in guatemala the government has backed down
32:26and the protests have been called off the mood has changed keep that move all the way all the way
32:32come on dad we got it so it's safe for the stranded teams to get back on the road all right race is
32:38back on oh man see here we go we're on the move all the way to quetzal telango to make up for lost
32:48time anita and bal are spending big by taking a taxi
32:55avoiding the capital city still congested after the blockades they're heading 290 kilometers southwest
33:02to the city of quetzal telango dad if all the roads in guatemala are like this it's gonna take us
33:10like two weeks to get out of here
33:15i mean it's like cramped 200 kilometers behind roman and harley moon sticking to the main road
33:22about 20 seats of us and about 50 people on here yeah but we're moving what's the name of where we're
33:29forgotten already antigua traveling on local buses to save money they're aiming for antigua we just
33:37want to keep bolting it as far down as we can
33:39what's going on there's more blockages we're gonna have to walk
33:52where are we all right no idea where we are obviously because of all this strike stuff that's
33:58been going on this is what's been left over i knew it was going too well on that bus
34:04it was all a bit too easy i mean you can't make it up
34:08barbed wire on the floor let's see now
34:19i have never thought it would be this hard to get through a country
34:22it's wild as the siblings continue their journey on foot

38:34we know we've probably spent the most of our budget so far on food we knew that from the start that that
38:41was going to be our um achilles heel so yeah slightly concerned about the budget
38:54lying on a major fault line in guatemala's western highlands quetzaltenango is rocked by over 100

39:41i'm loving it i'm having a really really good time as well i think our personalities are quite
39:45suited to this environment it is well i worked bars when you were a little kid
39:49do you remember we lost our business yeah we lost the house we lost the factory uh we lost everything
39:58basically yeah so i went out i got a newspaper and got any job that's unveiled but starting immediately
40:04and there was job there for a a bower it was in a nightclub and it was collecting glasses
40:10so i said i'll take it it's quite a big deal though isn't it going from running a three-story business
40:18that you own to collecting glasses you've got to swallow your pride to earn that money
40:22i started a business in the rag trade 1982 and it took off but there was a recession coming
40:31and i became bankrupt actually and then we had to sell up everything we got to a point we couldn't afford a
40:38bus fare i do remember that i couldn't ask for anything but we didn't have anything we didn't
40:43have anything yeah it was hard as a man to not be able to earn an income for your family it was very
40:50very difficult it wasn't their fault this was my it was my problem that we want to give them the best
40:55regardless you and mom really protected me and you just got yourself back on your feet otherwise what
41:02you can't do we're never nothing but where we are now here we are yeah yeah never shaped that sort
41:09of stuff never told them this is the type of job i'm doing because i didn't want them to see their
41:13dad as a failure you know the ones still be proud of me i often think about what it must have felt like
41:21when they lost everything particularly for my dad and how that must have impacted him you know he's just
41:27remarkable i do see my dad as a superhuman it's a journey so same as this yeah if anything happens
41:36we'll we'll we'll push through it yep
41:47hmm i love an english fry up so if i can come here and taste the traditional fry up we're winning in

44:22cannot find like a cheaper okay this is a nightmare if i was here with a friend i definitely would have
44:29spent five around there in a nice room over in rural honduras
44:35yeah well the world the world the world the world the world the dylan and jackie are finishing off their

45:30would be proud of us yeah i think he would be as well yeah he was very close to james dylan was
45:36it's very rare now that we do talk about james which is sad really yes i think this will hopefully
45:46bring him to life a bit again in our souls on the edge i think um losing james makes you
45:58reassess life and makes you think how precious life is this is an opportunity for me to grasp and
46:06live and enjoy perfecto perfecto dylan and i are on a different level now in confidence we've raised
46:17our game a hell of a lot since the first leg i think also he does quite like the young lady here

48:21i feel like i let us down you didn't let us down i'm disappointed just in myself you know like
48:26i think it's more out of fear do you know what i mean it's fear that we're gonna run out of money
48:30and not be able to do this amazing trip like that's what i worry about well moving forward
48:35we can change our strategy of not having to panic about the money i guess sometimes making
48:41ourselves upset you know no matter what happens we're on this adventure together if we come last
48:50we run out of money we run out of money all right ready to start again yeah i mean i've never seen
49:03a volcano before in my life so that's that's pretty amazing i mean this is what it's about though really
49:08isn't it if i hadn't been looking for that hotel we probably would have gone up there by now
49:20you do know the border opened 18 minutes ago already yeah but we also need to eat i can't be
49:26going for a board across it with no food in my belly what's half an hour makes all different to
49:31the race every minute counts just eight kilometers from the el salvador border molly and tyler are now
49:40the closest team to the second checkpoint 64 minutes later than planned we went a little bit overboard
49:48on food this leg we can't afford a cab so um we're walking the books just need to balance out
49:56it happens um where's the border hola frontera yeah see on a little 40 minute brisk walk in the morning

51:07today i just have a good feeling but i don't want to dig sit yet because look at the traffic i think
51:12when we get over the border we can haggle a cab we have only spent ten dollars today it's just it's
51:20just how much they charge us the thing is the taxi was fifty dollars let's get us is this being told
51:28to learn from yesterday when to do it and when to not do it yeah feels like one of those moments
51:34things if we can do a taxi do taxes just do it
51:43is that a vulture there there are vultures circling us
51:48we're walking for two hours yeah read it down there said it was 40 minutes
51:57this is annoying come on
51:59oh see that time yeah that's our finish line welcome to el salvador el salvador we made it molly
52:10and tyler's lengthy trek to the border
52:15the pacific coastline has given others a chance to catch up as all four teams are now in el salvador
52:21i'm starting to get butterflies i think we're gonna be fast you never know they might all have
52:30disasters and we are first this feels worth it turn the taxi my gut tells me this was the right
52:38idea we're getting there fast which is good anything towards bala and anita i'll take right now we're done
52:44good we're ocean swells crash into volcanic sands the sleepy surf town of el zonte on the pacific coast

56:01for the next one oh well done damn they're still ahead of us we made up a lot of time became seconds
56:12that's pretty good yeah do you know what we got through a national strike we've closed the gap which
56:18it feels like a victory biggest challenge of this leg for me definitely was deciding when to be frugal
56:25and when to race and i think you helped me a lot you know during this leg there's a gate up there
56:34i think it could be on these stairs we made it babe
56:38oh my gosh we could have caught them oh what the hell that's amazing it's bittersweet third
57:01place again i'm gonna put my hands up i said let's have breakfast yeah yeah that could have been the
57:07pivotal moment give us a hug yeah i'd say that anita and bal have maintained pole position but their
57:1523-hour lead is now down to three and a half and just 22 minutes separates the other teams
57:22we came fourth again but we we're gonna get rude about it because we're so close we could literally
57:29hold them back as they're trying to leave i think what we did right in this leg is we spoke to more
57:34people you definitely gained confidence in yourself on this second leg i think yeah
57:44wow we're going to honduras baby i feel like i'm in jurassic park dad this is so cool all right in the
57:54midst of anxiety we have jumped off the bus i feel like death we might be ahead of everyone come on
58:02he's just asked us to push the bus was that the most attractive thing you've ever seen me do yeah it was pretty fit
58:09you're gonna win the race mustn't give up dylan yeah there's no hotel here so now what
