Your competition for #LocalSEO plays a significant role in your own rankings. For example, I have a client who was previously losing share to a competitor who was keyword-stuffing their name, working out of an improper location, had multiple Google Business Profiles, and more. Left unchecked, my client would continue to struggle to rank for their services, which would reflect poorly on me. When I see competition that is violating Google's quality guidelines, I have to suggest an edit.

00:00Hey everyone, what's going on? Greg here again from Team Blast. So every time I run a heatmap
00:03scan using Local Falcon, I'm actually always looking at the competition to make sure that
00:07no company is getting an unfair advantage over my client because I want my client to get
00:12the most phone calls, website clicks, and customers for their business for working with me. So here's
00:18an example where I ran a scan back on November 10th. There was a company that 100% share of
00:22Local Voice, which really surprised me. When I looked into their profile, I noticed several
00:27issues that were against Google's quality guidelines. So I was actually able to suggest
00:30an edit and I got that profile removed. But then today they came back. So when I did the scan,
00:36I noticed my client actually lost some rankings. They're back at the top. I had to do the same
00:40thought process of, okay, what's going on with this? I want to walk you through this because this
00:44is actually really important for anyone that has a local business and is looking for more leads.
00:47So to start, Local Falcon, the keyword here is immigration exam. I ran the scan and I noticed
00:52I'm looking at the heatmap of how everyone is ranking. And I've looked at this one particular
00:56company. They are dots one, two, and three pretty much everywhere, which means they're getting the
01:00majority of phone calls, website clicks, et cetera. But when I dove in deeper, again,
01:06I noticed several issues within their account. So issues were keyword stuffing, location was not real.
01:13Then they also had duplicate profiles as well. So they had multiple Google business profiles,
01:17then also keyword stuffing, different search phrases, neighborhoods within the city, et cetera.
01:23So I come across this a lot. And actually I've been noticing this even more and more. I hope
01:28Google can do a better job of this, but I don't even know if they can. A lot of times people will
01:33create multiple profiles and then they would keyword stuff, the name, because if they can get,
01:37let's say a two or three month advantage over their competition, it's worth it. Even if that account
01:42gets shut down, they got the leads they needed, they'll just create another one. So I always have
01:46to keep an eye on that. So that's the example right over here. They had a hundred percent,
01:50they had multiple profiles, keyword stuff in their name, a location that did not exist.
01:53There's even more issues too. So I saw that I suggested an edit. It got removed. My client
01:59actually grew within their rankings, but then today they came back. So again, I had to take action
02:04because otherwise my client's going to lose rankings. So here is the thing, what to do.
02:10I always say use local Falcon. I think it's the best tool for this, but look at the competition.
02:16You want to look for fake addresses. So again, PO boxes, a location that clearly does not exist,
02:21an apartment, anything like that, that is not for the Google quality guidelines. You have to
02:25look at that because if it's directly impacting your business, you have to make a suggestion.
02:30You know, same thing, the name, keyword stuff in the name, duplicate profiles. I see this so many
02:34times for doctors and locksmiths. There's a lot of unfair competition that's taking place against
02:38going to directly impact your business. Next, your location really does, you know, play a major factor.
02:45So my clients are all over. So, um, if I had a client, let's say it was in Albany, New York,
02:51if I make a suggestion, cause I'm in the Albany region, my suggestion is going to have more weight
02:55compared to somebody in California. So always, you know, consider that if your clients are able
02:58to make the suggestion, it's going to hold more weight bonus points that they can take a photo or
03:02anything else like that as proof, uh, when they submit that within Google. Uh, now finally,
03:07there is no guarantee that this is going to work. So again, for the locksmith industry that I work
03:12with and HVACs and other ones too, you know, sometimes it's maybe like 50% of the time that
03:17these suggestions will go through. Uh, Google does a lot of, uh, algorithm, uh, checks to make sure
03:22that, uh, your suggestions aren't just going to, you know, take a tank a business. That's actually
03:28legit. So they look at things like address on third-party sites. They look at reviews. They look
03:32at, uh, the activity of the profile. They look at just the, you know, better business bureau. They look
03:36at a lot of different third-party sites to confirm if the address is real, uh, the services they
03:41provide are real, the Google street view. There's so many other things that go into, you know, into
03:44fact. But again, though, for a lot of, uh, my clients, uh, competitors, a lot of times, again,
03:50it's like somebody running like four different Google business profiles and they're all ranking
03:54like, let's say five or 7%, but they have four of them. So they have like pockets where they're
03:59ranking really well. And again, that impacts my client. Therefore we have to make a suggestion
04:03because otherwise what's stopping us from creating 10 profiles and all of a sudden there's so much
04:07spam within Google maps. And anyway, this is what you want to see at the end. You make the suggestion
04:11or your client makes the suggestion. Now it's accepted. They're removed. Your ranking should
04:16improve, but always keep running more local Falcon scans. Make sure they don't come back. So
04:20otherwise it's going to impact your business. Anyway, thanks for watching this video. Let me know
04:25if you have any questions and as always have a good rest of your day.
