00:00G5, he missed week seven and eight, and then he had a week nine bye.
00:04So that's three weeks that he had a chance to kind of get that knee healthy.
00:09He re-injured it in the second quarter of that win to the Browns this past Sunday.
00:15Does that mean that the knee was not ready for game competition?
00:20It's probably a sprain or an injury to his MCL, which is one of the ligaments on the outside of his knee.
00:25Usually people can return three to six weeks, so that would have probably been a little bit on the earlier side.
00:31But if he passed through all of his pre-game testing, it would have been reasonable to go back.
00:35But unfortunately for him, it sounds like he might have worsened things a little bit.
00:39How would you treat a non-professional athlete or patient of yours?
00:43Let's assume that it was an MCL sprain.
00:46Then just like you said, initial recovery, you do have them wear a brace before they return to play, usually for around three-ish to four weeks.
00:54Then you have them do physical therapy throughout, work on knee strength, knee range of motion.
00:59And then eventually you'd let them get back to sports-specific exercises, which would be like cutting, pivoting, things like that.
01:05So fortunately, all these knee sprains largely can almost always be treated non-operatively, whether you're Garrett Wilson or Dan Kaplan.
01:14But it's just a matter of how much time you have or how much time it takes to get back.
01:18For someone like you or me who doesn't have the resources that a Garrett Wilson does, it'll take maybe a little bit longer because we don't have world-class physical therapists and nutritionists helping us out.
01:28But the treatment would largely be the same.
