00:00What's the best way to cook bacon?
00:02Okay, you're asking?
00:04Yeah, I'm asking. What's the best way to cook bacon?
00:06I'm a convert. I used to always do it in an iron skillet or a flat top, you know, old school, hot.
00:12Cast iron skillet for your bacon?
00:14Oh, cast iron's the best.
00:15Well, I say that.
00:17I love cast iron.
00:18Yeah, I say that, but I'm a convert now to the oven.
00:21Now.
00:22Yeah, it stays flatter, it keeps its size, its length, and it still gets crispy.
00:27I'm a convert.
00:27Yeah, the important question to ask is how do you like your bacon, though?
00:30Because, like, that will depend.
00:32A lot of people like it crispy, and for the most part, I think you're right.
00:36Like, objectively, the oven is a good way to go.
00:38I personally am not, like, full crispy.
00:41I could tell y'all.
00:42Actually, I should just say it.
00:44I've actually not been doing pork bacon for a while.
00:47Like, I have actually converted to turkey bacon.
00:49There's nothing wrong with that.
00:49Nah, it is.
00:51It is.
00:52People get after me, and I'm sure it's coming.
00:54You got to know how to cook it, too.
00:56Because at first, I was like, nah, you know, I wasn't really a big fan, but you got to cook it the right way.
01:02And it's just fine.
01:03It's not as, I guess, good as pork bacon.
01:08Yeah.
01:09But, nah, it's not.
01:12I do it in the oven, kind of both.
01:14Yeah.
01:14Sometimes I throw it in the oven, because it's easier to cook in there, and then keep it straight, and all that stuff.
01:20But sometimes, if I do it in the skillet, I'm totally fine with that.
01:23Have you seen the people that have started, like, kind of boiling, quote-unquote, the bacon?
01:28Is that that guy that you heard from the other day with the steak?
01:30No, no, no.
01:31This is actually more legitimate.
01:32The idea being that what it'll do is it starts cooking.
01:35Obviously, the water will, it's not really fully boiling.
01:37It's just you kind of put some water in there, and then when the water evaporates, then it'll kind of cook it down further.
01:42But it kind of renders out the fat a little bit differently.
01:46I haven't tried it, but it looks interesting.
01:47I'm willing to try.
01:48Okay.
01:48Okay.
01:49My second question, what's the best type of sausage to cook or grill?
01:55All right.
01:55Like, what's your go-to sausage?
01:56You came to the right place.
01:57You go to the grocery store, you're about to cook on the grill, which brand of sausage?
02:03Okay, so there's three that are my go-tos.
02:06My number one, and I've gone to the extent of driving there, like, for July 4th or something.
02:13Oh, don't tell you're going to Louisiana.
02:15No, I'm going to Elgin.
02:16I'm going to get that Elgin sausage.
02:20Ah, that's good.
02:22Anybody going to Austin, I always tell them, hey, can you stop in Elgin and get me, you know, five, six, ten pounds of Elgin sausage?
02:27So that's my number one, but it's not as easy to get all the time because some stores have it, but it's very unpredictable.
02:34My number two is Belleville.
02:35Belleville Meat Market.
02:36Belleville.
02:36Yeah, Belleville Meat Market.
02:37Okay.
02:37Yeah.
02:38Okay, so I'll bring this up because yesterday I was actually cooking on the grill a little bit.
02:43My go-to is Zuma sausage.
02:45Oh, that's the Barrio Ribeye.
02:47Is it?
02:48Yeah.
02:48Okay.
02:49Or the Hood Ribeye.
02:52Yeah, okay.
02:53I'm hearing words, and I'm nodding and smiling.
02:55Zuma, you've never had Zuma?
02:56Maybe.
02:57Zuma's legit.
02:58You know what my extent is with sausage?
03:00That looks good.
03:00I'll eat it.
03:01Yeah.
03:02I don't know.
03:02Yeah, I was kind of feeling the same way, but I wasn't really familiar with Zuma sausage because obvious is more of a local thing.
03:11I think they originated out of Beaumont, if I'm not mistaken.
03:14But it wasn't until Houston legend and recipes to Big Pokey, he was on Instagram Live with Lil' Kiki, and they were kind of going back and forth a little bit.
03:25They was kind of having a little cook-off, unofficially cook-off.
03:28I think Lil' Kiki was at the house cooking breakfast.
03:31He was making bacon.
03:32Yeah.
03:33And Big Pokey, he was on the grill or whatever.
03:37And so it kind of started.
03:39Here's Lil' Kiki pretty much showing the bacon to Instagram and to Big Pokey.
03:46And it kind of started a little something right here.
03:49Bacon already ready, fresh, and pretty.
03:51You understand?
03:51Let me see what you're looking like.
03:52Let me see what you're looking like on that.
03:54Yeah, crispy like you like it.
03:55Crispy like you like it.
03:56Okay, I see.
03:58I see he's crushed up.
03:59Mine be pretty and straight.
04:00You cooked it on the skillet or the oven?
04:02Nah, I ain't doing no damn oven.
04:04That's the white.
04:04I ain't doing no damn oven.
04:05What?
04:05I ain't doing.
04:07It's off the skillet.
04:08Listen, IG, IG, if you want your bacon pretty and straight looking like the rest of it.
04:12Hey, man, look here, man.
04:13Put it in the oven.
04:14First of all, I'm tired.
04:16I'm tired.
04:17It's gonna be bow-legged and not needed to sloop with it and everything.
04:20Bow-legged bacon.
04:21On the top, let me just let you know this here.
04:23Man, the **** don't eat no Zuma sausages, man.
04:25Straight-legged, **** don't eat no Zuma's.
04:29Man, that's what I said.
04:32Keep a turn on you.
04:33Hey, Zuma is the lively sausage out there, man.
04:36You probably eat Earl Cameron.
04:38That was you eating Earl Cameron.
04:42Hey, I **** with Earl.
04:43I **** with Earl for this sausage.
04:45I'm a chap with here, ****.
04:47I ain't no dry-ass sausage, ****.
04:49I ain't no shit on that dry mother ****.
04:51I looked in there at your sausage.
04:52The chest wasn't even bust open on your sausage.
04:55The chest wasn't even bust open.
04:55On the pity, bust his self, ****.
04:59What are you doing on the skinny juice?
05:00You bust his chin.
05:01But on the pity, bust his self.
05:03They were going on back and forth.
05:06This is what healthy male relationships look like as they get older.
05:11They're just talking trash about how you cook versus how other people cook.
05:18This is healthy.
05:18It's so great, too, because both of these guys are in hip-hop or was in hip-hop and very competitive.
05:26And so it was just kind of funny seeing them being so competitive over cooking.
05:30Well, I can't believe he hadn't had Zuma.
05:35No, look.
05:35He said he don't like it.
05:36Yeah, he had it.
05:37He just said that's not fair.
05:38Yeah, his go-to.
05:39What was his go-to?
05:40Chapel Hill.
05:41Chapel Hill, yeah.
05:42Yeah, that's good sausage.
05:43And so Big Pokey, like, man, that dry-ass sausage, man, you got to put some lotion on there.
05:49Yeah, it's a recipe to Big Pokey, man.
05:51I thought that was very entertaining.
05:53And I wasn't familiar with any of the sausages.
05:55You just learned something.
05:56Yeah, he sold me on the Zuma.
05:59Because the way he said it, I'm like, wait, should I be trying this?
06:02Honestly, that is exactly the type of recommendation I want.
06:05The type of recommendation that I want is somebody that loves this thing so much that they're willing to cut you out about it.
06:12Because you're not doing what they do.
06:13He stopped what he was talking about.
06:16And we're like, wait, you don't even know Zoom sausage.
06:18That was a surprise to me.
06:20Yeah.
06:20He's like, man, IG about to turn on you.
06:23But, yeah, I actually cut some Zoom on sausages yesterday.
06:26Pretty good, man.
06:27Pokey was right?
06:28Yeah, I think he was right.
06:29I think he was right.
06:30So rest in peace to Big Pokey, man.
06:31Rest in peace, indeed.
06:33As I continue on the mixtape in the Loop Sports Radio 610, let's go up to Milwaukee.
06:40What?
06:40Milwaukee?
06:41Yeah, so it was a man up there wrongfully arrested by the FBI and was accused of being a narcotics dealer.
06:49And here is ABC 12 in Milwaukee with the story.
06:53And by the end of this, I think they need to lock old buddy back up.
06:58Ryan Porter, one of the men at the center of this raid, talking one-on-one with 12 News hours after agents hauled him away.
07:05Walked downstairs and, you know, there's guns everywhere.
07:09You can see him here, hands in the air, later in this video, handcuffed.
07:14He says he was driven away to the FBI field office in St. Francis.
07:18I think this is a little excessive, you guys.
07:20But, I mean, come to find out, you know, they did a bunch of raids this morning because they are trying to knock down this network of narcotic dealers, traffickers, and things like that.
07:29Porter says agents questioned him for nearly seven hours before letting him go.
07:34They didn't charge you with anything.
07:35No, they told me I didn't, they didn't have an indictment against me.
07:38They were tapping my phone for six weeks.
07:41They told you that?
07:42They told me they were tapping my phone and they were surveilling my house on Center Street for like six weeks.
07:46Porter showed us this video of the aftermath of his home after he says agents searched he's ever sold drugs he didn't hold back.
07:54So you don't know of any drug selling?
07:57Yeah, I sold weed, b*****.
07:59But that's it.
08:00Yeah, it's a little cocaine.
08:01But says he isn't who the FBI is really after.
08:05So you're innocent then, basically.
08:06I mean, more or less, like I'm small potatoes.
08:09You got to go to jail, straight to jail, man.
08:13Just for being sick.
08:14You were so close.
08:15Yeah, skip the $200, go straight to jail, man.
08:19Don't collect any money.
08:20They tapped his phone and let him walk after a seven-hour interview.
08:23He said, I said, a little weed.
08:24Maybe a little cocaine.
08:25A little cocaine.
08:26That is insane.
08:27You know what that is?
08:28That is, you got the ball at the 20.
08:31You broke away.
08:31Yes.
08:32You at the five, you out here doing an Irish.
08:34Get it to the end zone.
08:35No, you drop the ball.
08:36Just get it to the end zone.
08:37No, you let the ball go as you walk into the end zone.
08:39Just get it to the end zone, dog.
08:41Now it's a touchback.
08:42Do you know how rare it is to get hemmed up by the FBI and get left free?
08:46And then you go, well, I saw weed.
08:48They were tapping his phone, what, did they say, six weeks?
08:50Six weeks.
08:51And them wiretaps are not easy to get.
08:53Yeah.
08:53And they interviewed him for seven hours.
08:56They said, you know what?
08:57Go ahead.
08:57You got it, big dog.
08:58Yeah, let me go on TV.
08:59My bad.
08:59He's going on the news and said, yeah, a little cocaine, a little weed here, Jay.
09:03What an unforced error.
09:05Yeah.
09:06So I think they need to lock his head.
09:08I will come right back.
09:09Just a regular cop.
09:10I was just, hey, man.
09:12We saw the interview, man.
09:13Just come with us, man.
09:15You need to spend at least like a good five days.
09:17Spend a week in jail, man.
09:19A couple follow-ups here.
09:20Yeah.
09:20Yeah, just spend a week in jail for that nonsense.
09:23I'm a drug dealer, but I'm not that drug dealer.
09:25Come on now.
09:26Get it right.
09:26It's a mixed tape.
09:32And so we're coming to around the time of holiday traveling and all that stuff.
09:37The holiday is next week.
09:39So a lot of people are going to be hitting the roads and, I guess, the airlines and all that stuff.
09:45They're going to be flying around.
09:46So AAA has spent the number, a record number of Americans to travel for Thanksgiving.
09:53And they said it might be around 82 million people to head out.
09:59Aren't we a country of 300-something mil?
10:02Yeah, but with all the airlines strife, a lot of people probably plan to drive.
10:06Yeah.
10:07Even though they're opening back up the routes, right?
10:10No, I'm glad you said that.
10:11So 82 million people are expected to head out this year.
10:15Sheesh.
10:1673 million will drive.
10:19Yeah.
10:19So it'll be a lot of people on the road.
10:21Six million will fly, and 2.5 million will take buses, trains, and other ways, and transportations.
10:28Yes, so I guess I could try to help you all.
10:31I don't know if y'all are going to listen or roll with this, but the worst times to be on the road per AAA.
10:38Let me know.
10:39Next Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m.
10:43Okay.
10:44And next Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
10:48Oh, please don't do that to me.
10:49So I want to say that's right before Thanksgiving.
10:51After the show, I'm planning on driving out.
10:53You're going to be right in there, buddy.
10:56Six hours to get the course canna.
10:58Yeah.
10:58So I should just wait until 8 p.m. next week, huh?
11:01Just travel on Thanksgiving, man.
11:02Ain't nobody going to be on the road.
11:03Or are you going to Killeen?
11:04Yeah, I'm going to Killeen, and I'm supposed to be cooking something up there, too.
11:07Oh, really?
11:07Yeah, that's why I need to go.
11:08Four hours to leave.
11:09Yeah.
11:12Yeah, so when you plan on heading home.
11:13Yeah.
11:14But the worst times to head home, Sunday, which is November 30th, between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.,
11:21and Monday, December 1st, between noon and 8 p.m.
11:27So that Monday is going to be a little rough, which includes the regular traffic.
11:32Yeah.
11:32So that's going to be regular traffic because a lot of people probably going back to work
11:36and all that stuff.
11:37The best day to drive is Thursday, which is Thanksgiving.
11:41On Thanksgiving.
11:42Yeah, so it ain't going to be a lot of traffic going on.
11:45Were your parents – my dad was this.
11:47I was never this dad.
11:49We're getting up at 4.30, and we're going to be on the road by 5.
11:53I never was that guy.
11:54My parents was like that.
11:55My dad was.
11:56One time we took a trip to Bessemer, Alabama.
11:59Yeah.
12:00We had to get up like 2 in the morning.
12:01Mm-hmm.
12:02The drive – I think that's like a – I forgot how – I think that might be about a 16-hour drive.
12:07Oh, baby.
12:08Something like that.
12:09And this was in the 90s.
12:11Yeah.
12:11So it was me, mom, dad, sister, and uncle all in the Cadillac DeVille.
12:16Well, at least it was spacious.
12:17Did you get a Cadillac DeVille?
12:18Yeah, no, it was really spacious.
12:19Yeah.
12:20But, man, that was – we had to get up early for that one.
12:23And it was no GPS.
12:25We had to use a map.
12:26Yeah.
12:27It was crazy.
12:27Well, the beauty of these things is I've noted it.
12:30At least Tuesday, Wednesday, you can rock here on Sports Radio 610.
12:33We got you covered as normal.
12:35And then Monday, coming back, we'll be here as well.
12:38We'll be here.
12:39As you commute back.
12:40That's right.
12:41It'll be all good in the hood.
12:42Yep.
12:43All right, got to give a special salute to ESPN.
12:48I don't know if you guys saw this, but a new 30 for 30 called Booyah.
12:54Do you know who that's about?
12:55Oh, man.
12:56Yeah.
12:57That's Scott.
12:57Yep.
12:58Stuart Scott.
12:58They got a 30 for 30 coming out.
13:00I want to say it's early December.
13:04And I kind of want to check that out.
13:06I'll be interested.
13:06I think it'll be great.
13:07It's been a minute since I've been really wanting to watch a 30 for 30, but I'm kind
13:11of, you know, interested in seeing this about Stuart Scott.
13:15He was one of my favorite people growing up, just early on watching his.
13:19One of the early talents, you know.
13:21Is it weird that my brain goes, we're doing a 30 for 30 documentary about a media member?
13:29It is a little weird.
13:31It is a little weird.
13:31But I think this is sort of a special circumstance, you know, publicly fighting his battle early.
13:37I think there's going to be some cool early ESPN stories, you know, that kind of stuff.
13:42The question I had immediately is, is this going to be a feature length?
13:45Is it going to be like an hour long?
13:47I'm not quite sure.
13:48No, I know.
13:49But that's my thought because I'm like, I also don't want this.
13:52As much as I enjoy Stuart Scott and I would love to watch this, I'm sure that I will.
13:56So I also go into my natural thoughts on where we've gotten in documentary, which is a lot
14:02of this stuff gets bloated.
14:03Yeah, I know.
14:04You and I are on the same page with that.
14:05But yeah, I'm kind of curious on like his early life, how he got into the business.
14:10That'd be cool.
14:11Yeah.
14:11I didn't know anything about Stuart Scott until I started watching ESPN.
14:16And, you know, I didn't realize how much he kind of changed the way we do media and
14:23all that stuff.
14:24So I'd be very interested to see this.
14:27Yeah.
14:27And also, I got to give a thanks for nothing, man.
14:32Another thanks for nothing, Sam Merrill.
14:35Yeah.
14:35We did a whole segment.
14:37We really did.
14:37Half a segment.
14:38Wait till you get a load of this guy.
14:39Yeah.
14:40Man, they're shooting the three balls.
14:41It's going to be interesting.
14:42Watch out for that, Sam Merrill.
14:44Yeah.
14:44Well, we didn't have to watch out for him because he didn't play.
14:47It's nothing worse than a wasted segment, man.
14:50He's doing all that talking about one person and then they out for rest or whatever.
14:56That's a great thanks for nothing.
14:56Well, I think he had hurt us.
14:58He had a hand injury of some sort.
15:00But, yeah, still, I very much felt that.
15:02I'm pretty sure I texted you guys.
15:04I was like, damn.
15:04So that whole segment fell pretty flat.
15:05I figured you was like, who are any of these guys?
15:07Yeah, man.
15:08I think the Cavaliers – I said this in our group chat.
15:10I feel like the Cavaliers got a bunch of, who the hell is that?
15:14Like, I'm looking – at first, I kind of tapped in late so I didn't see Sam Merrill.
15:19But I seen the dude – what was his name?
15:20I forgot his name.
15:21Tomlin.
15:21Oh, Tomlin.
15:23Something Tomlin.
15:24And he got into it with Jabari.
15:26Yeah.
15:26It looked like he was kind of getting into it a little bit with – or he was playing extra
15:31crazy with Kevin Durant and all that.
15:34Yeah.
15:34And I'm like, who the hell is Tomlin?
15:36He had a couple other people.
15:38I'm like, who the hell is Craig Porter Jr.?
15:40Yeah, Craig Porter Jr., undrafted.
15:41And all these guys is out here making some plays, too.
15:44I'm like, who the hell is that?
15:46That's Kenny Atkinson being a good coach over there.
15:48Not good enough to be email doker, though, but good coach nonetheless.
