00:31for the first time in my life on film,
00:37I was able to explore my own past pain and trauma

00:53we would talk about it.
00:54We would talk about the privilege it is
00:56to expose yourself and go there.
00:59And to be honest with you,
01:01I was nervous about doing that for many, many, many years.
01:07Until now, until the Smashing Machine.
01:09So it changed my life.
01:11Smashing Machine changed my life.
01:12And it really gave me, it unlocked something for me
01:14that, oh, okay, I can explore this and put it somewhere
01:19and I can transform and I can disappear
01:23through great prosthetics and, you know,
01:27where otherwise I didn't know if I could do it in the past
01:30because I look how I look, you know,
01:33and so it changed my life.

01:53No, I haven't always felt free to show my vulnerabilities.

01:59Because if something works well in Hollywood,

02:11the material that was coming my way
02:13was not the material that allowed
02:16for fragility, vulnerability,
02:20and strength to live in the same room.

02:37But fragility, vulnerability,
02:39ability, emotionality,
02:42going deep,
02:45that was not the material that was coming my way.

02:50I also, it's important
02:51because I don't want to make it sound like,
02:55oh, they weren't giving it to me.

03:02Like, I believe that I was,
03:05I may say I wasn't getting that material,
03:07but I also wasn't manifesting it.

03:19and more sensitive to that

03:23because there is space for the bigger movies,

03:34what's important just as an artist,
03:37as a creative
03:39is to make sure that I'm still doing things
03:43and these things are for me
03:45and that I'm making this thing
03:48that I'm making solely for me
03:51and I'm giving everything
03:53that I have into this thing
03:55and then I deliver it
03:58and then I will move on
