00:00Mr. President, I got you an early Christmas gift, too. I just hope they're not too big on you.
00:08On Monday's late-night shows, the host finally addressed former national security adviser
00:12Michael Flynn pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about being in contact with Russia.
00:16On CBS's The Late Show host Stephen Colbert said the holiday spirit has finally arrived.
00:21Well, it feels like Christmas is here, courtesy of Robert Mueller coming down the White House
00:25chimney with a sack full of subpoenas, Colbert joked.
00:28Apart from pleading guilty, Flynn also agreed to cooperate with the special counsel's office.
00:32As Colbert put it, he's turning on his old friends. And, the host continued,
00:36It's like the old saying goes, snitches get significant time off their federal prison sentence.
00:41And if anyone is wondering who exactly Flynn decided to name in his plea deal,
00:50Jared Kushner is believed to have ordered Flynn to contact Russia after the election.
00:54Said Colbert,
00:58Colbert also read President Donald Trump's recent tweet, saying he fired Flynn for lying to the FBI
01:04and Vice President, a tweet that could prove an admission to obstruction of justice.
01:08After it was argued that Trump's lawyer John Dowd wrote the tweet, Colbert explained
01:12administration supporters are calling the defense,
01:14sloppy and unfortunate words that Colbert joked are Eric and Don Jr.'s Secret Service code names.
01:19Colbert also took a moment to celebrate the holiday collusion season, with Carola singing
01:24Robert Mueller's 12 Days of Christmas.
01:26A mother gave to me a Michael Flynn guilty plea
01:33Sounds like an instant holiday classic.
01:35On CBS's The Late Late Show, James Corden also took time to mock Dad's defense
01:39of writing Trump's questionable tweet.
01:41Any time I tweet something that you guys like, that was me.
01:44Any time a tweet proves I'm guilty of a crime, that was Reggie Corden joked
01:48to Michaud's band leader.
01:49Corden argued that a more believable lie would have been...
01:53Eric Trump got hold of his dad's iPad.
01:55We'd all believe that.
01:56When Trump tweeted in defense of Flynn that nothing happened to Hillary Clinton when she
02:00lied to the FBI, Corden was quick to retort...
02:02Nothing happened to her.
02:04She lost the presidential election to Donald Trump.
02:08Over at NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host took a closer look at Flynn's guilty plea,
02:13mocking Trump's possible obstruction of justice.
02:16Man, he is so bad at this.
02:18He's like one of those burglars who leaves his driver's license behind.
02:21Except he tweets his driver's license.
02:24Meyers also addressed Dad's defense.
02:26Because you basically admitted that your client committed a crime.
02:30That'd be like if Johnny Cochran got up and said,
02:32the glove does fit, my client's full of s**t.
02:34Meanwhile, on Comedy Central, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah was quick to question
02:38Flynn's admission that he lied after just four days on the job.
02:42Day four? That's so early.
02:44You don't even know where the good pooping bathroom is yet. Day four?
02:48Like Meyers, Noah compared Cochran's glove defense during the OJ Simpson trial to Dowd
02:53saying he had written Trump's tweet about firing Flynn.
02:56That's like if Johnny Cochran had tried the glove on himself and he'd be like,
02:59it fits perfectly because it's my murdering glove!
03:02Jimmy Fallon also poked fun at Mueller's investigation during NBC's The Tonight Show,
03:06dressing as Bruce Springsteen as he sang,
03:08Robert Mueller's coming to town.
03:10You better watch out, you better not cry.
03:14You better not lie to the FBI.
