Freed US journalist Gershkovich says wants to spread awareness of Russian political prisoners

Freed US journalist Evan Gershkovich speaks to reporters at Joint Base Andrews Air Force base, Maryland, after a major prisoner swap between Russia and the West. In footage filmed on August 1, Gershkovich says he would like to "potentially do something" to help other, less well-known, political prisoners still held in Russian jails.

00:00It was great to get on that bus today and see a lot of, you know, not just Americans and Germans,

00:06but Russian political prisoners, but I just spent a month in prison in Yekaterinburg,

00:12where there's a whole, you know, basically everybody I sat with is a political prisoner

00:17and nobody knows them publicly. They have, you know, various political beliefs,

00:24so they're not all connected with Navalny's supporters, which I think, you know,

00:29everybody knows about them, and so today was a really touching moment to see all of them,

00:35but it would be, you know, I think to see if we could potentially do something about them as well.

00:43I'd like to talk, you know, talk to people about that in the next weeks and months.
