Disney has pulled a transgender storyline from its upcoming Pixar animated series 'Win or Lose.' The series follows a co-ed middle school softball team named the Pickles in the week leading up to their championship game. A spokesperson for Disney confirmed that the story arc was removed and provided the following statement to THR: "When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline."

00:30The character remains in the show, but a few lines of dialogue that reference gender identity are being removed.
00:36The voice actress whose character story arc has been changed is herself transgender and told the publication Deadline later on Tuesday that she was, quote, very disheartened about the decision.
00:46It's not the first time that the company has come under scrutiny for LGBTQ plus storylines regarding its animated content.
00:52In 2022, Pixar's Lightyear included a same gender relationship and kiss, which also sparked controversy.
00:59And Disney animation Strange World, which opened several months later, featured an openly gay lead character.
01:05Both films failed to perform domestically or overseas.
