00:01Fiona is one of 14 trainees who run a Berlin hotel on their own.
00:05Today, Fiona is in charge of cooking breakfast for the entire hotel.
00:16For six weeks, the trainees are in charge of breakfast, housekeeping and the reception,
00:21including placing orders.
00:30The hotel managers hope that this project makes the training more attractive to young people.
00:37In Germany, there are only 43 applicants for every 100 apprenticeships in the hospitality industry.
00:44To compensate for the shortage of young talent, the hotel industry is relying on trainees from abroad.
00:52Fiona is from Indonesia, her colleague Doug from Vietnam.
00:56He came with experience in the hospitality sector but hopes for a better future in Germany.
01:14Doug is responsible for the reception desk.
01:16He plans on staying in the job when his training is finished.
01:19But first, he has to take care of the guests, making sure they have a smooth stay.
