00:00Ismaneera Abdul Manaf, the mother of murdered autistic child Zain Rayan Abdul-Matin, has
00:08applied to the Shah Alam High Court to be temporarily released on bail.
00:13The 30-year-old, who was sentenced to be jailed at Kajang Prison for five years on October
00:1831, made the request pending the outcome of the appeal against her conviction for child
00:24neglect.
00:25The application was made, while naming the public prosecutor as the respondent, through
00:30Ismaneera's counsel, Haresh Mahadevan and Co., on November 4.
00:35Ismaneera requested to be released on the same bail granted by the Petaling Jaya Sessions
00:40Court on June 13 last year.
00:43The application included additional conditions, orders or reliefs deemed appropriate by the
00:48High Court.
00:50It also gave six reasons that would allow the temporary release, including special circumstances
00:55that justify granting a stay of execution of the sentence, Senior Assistant Registrar Nadia
01:01Mizman has fixed December 4 to hear the application.
01:05The High Court also ordered the prosecution, as respondents, to file an affidavit on or before
01:11November 25.
01:13On October 31, the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court found Ismaneera guilty of neglecting Zain Rayan,
01:20which caused him physical harm, and sentenced her to prison.
01:24The court also ordered her to sign a two-year good behavior bond with a local surety and
01:303,000 ringgit bail, and to perform 120 hours of community service within six months after
01:37completing her prison term.
