00:00The Ecuadorian people said not in all of four questions in the referendum proposed by President Daniel Novoa in a direct rejection of his government and proposals.
00:23On Monday, the COP30 climate summit in Brazil entered its decisive stage after six days of negotiations.
00:36The Chinese government has urged Japan to stop Proulx-Online's sanctions rise after recent comments of Tokyo's prime minister's regard in Taiwan.
00:53Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:57I'm Ana Marrera from the Telesur Headquarters in Caracas, Venezuela.
01:00We'll be with the news. Step with us.
01:02On Sunday, Ecuadorian said no to the four questions posed by Daniel Novoa's government, which sought support for, among other agencies,
01:29coveting a constitutional assembly.
01:33According to the National Electoral Commission, with 96% of polling stations counted,
01:39the total for the constitutional assembly to draft a new constitution was rejected by 61.58% of the votes, representing one of the questions with the highest rejection rate nationwide.
01:53On the installation of foreign military bases, which is prohibited by the current constitution drafts in 2008, the no vote won 60.58%.
02:04Meanwhile, the other two proposals, eliminating the state funding for political parties and reducing the current numbers of legislators in the National Assembly,
02:13were rejected by 58.07% and 53.46% respectively.
02:21This is currently in the same year that Novoa was real elected president, with more than 55% of the votes last April.
02:32The Novoa vote that won in the referendum promoted by President Novoa sparked euphoric celebrations in Ecuador's major cities such as Quito and Guayaquil.
02:44Social organizations called on citizens to celebrate the triumphs of Novoa as a victory for democracy and the 2008 constitution.
02:53Opposition leaders were quick to interpret the results as a clear message from the electorate to the president, whom they accused of attempting an authoritarian shift.
03:02These results marked an unavoidable turn in points for the Novoa administrations, forcing it to radically rethink its political and governing strategies.
03:14After the results of the Ecuadorian national referendum, the president of the Citizens' Revolution Party, Luisa González,
03:26granted my pardon, an exclusive interview to our multimedia platform, where she highlighted the misuse of a budget by the government of President Novoa
03:37and how it affects the health and education sector.
03:41There are millions of dollars spent in public relationships, into buying, voting.
03:49There's no proper strategy for the conducting of Ecuador.
03:53And there's a lot of things to use this money from the public.
03:57And it's not being used inefficiently.
04:00They're not doing the proper use.
04:03But on the top of that, to pay the debt of the dialysis unit, we have more than 1,000 renal patients in the dialysis clinics.
04:17And the next could be also to fix the educational infrastructure.
04:21We have more than 4,000 young adults that go out of the educational system.
04:29And we know now that the 60% that the criminal bans are formed by young persons to rescue them is fundamental.
04:39We could have get the medicines to save life from the Ecuadorians.
04:44Almost the half of the population is from poverty to extreme poverty, going to the public hospitals.
04:49And as a result, we don't have even syringes.
04:53There are no meds.
04:54That's the proper use of the resources.
04:56The infrastructure from the streets.
05:00We have more and more debt by traffic accidents because of the infrastructure.
05:05The roads and the state highways are reducing.
05:09The 60% fail and more.
05:12We have more ideas of investment.
05:15But they don't have to manage the state.
05:18They only know about propaganda.
05:20And that's why the entire Ecuador is saying no to Ecuador.
05:24It's saying against it.
05:26And it's an abrupt fail what this government has now after this whole investment into the campaign.
05:35In this regard, during an exclusive interview with Telesur, former Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa
05:41offered statements on the situation that Daniel Novoa's governments will face after the referendum results.
05:47And the people, the young people, understood this perfectly and that rejection that can be seen at the polls.
05:52In addition to the contradictions.
05:53When we were at our best.
05:54When we didn't have any military bases.
05:56Now it turns out that foreign military bases have to come in to do the job.
05:59They are useless.
06:00Furthermore, people also perceived very well the dangers.
06:03That it was a dirty trick.
06:04That what they are least interested in is controlling drug trafficking.
06:07Military crime.
06:08And not having a base.
06:09A strategic location like Ecuador.
06:11In the event of a global conflict with China, Russia, etc.
06:14The former president warned that Ecuador has lost its state of law due to the government of Novoa's failure to comply with the constitution.
06:25In Ecuador there is no rule of law.
06:29It was lost a long time ago.
06:31They do whatever they want.
06:32I used to hear that they were accused of authoritarianism.
06:35Well, authoritarianism is not only illegal.
06:37It is also unpopular.
06:38Here there are illegalities, constitutional breaches, persecution, violations of human rights, open fraud, the appointment of prosecutors at will, the destruction of parliamentary procedures, and all these abuses.
06:50Maybe they will be a little more limited after the tremendous beating that the Ecuadorian people give them.
06:54In Venezuela, Foreign Minister Levan Hill applauded the victory of the Ecuadorian people after they reject the policies proposed in the referendum promoted by President Daniel Novoa.
07:09Through his social media accounts, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister expressed a great victory for the dignity of Ecuador from the land of Simon Bolivar.
07:19We send a big hug and congratulate the Ecuadorian people, higher of the great patriots and revolutionary Emanuelita Sanz and General Eloy Alfaro.
07:29The majority of the people rose up to say no to the surrender policies promoted by a corrupted government leading to drug trafficking, achieving a historic political victory.
07:41Ecuador has demonstrated its greatness in embracing the path towards creating popular victories and a new stage of struggles against those who have seeks to destroy it with corruption, violence and submission.
07:58South results in Chile tallies show a narrow difference between candidates Janet Jara and Jose Antonio Kast in the first round of the presidential elections.
08:26With more than 99% of the votes contained, data indicates that Jara is leading the Tally with 26.8%, followed by Kast with 23.9%.
08:38With these results, the right wing secures minorities in both chambers and thus Jara, the former minister under the president Boric and Kast, the son of former Nazi military officers, will face each other in the presidential runoff on December 14.
08:57Meanwhile, in the third place is Franco Parisi with 18.4%, who conducted his campaign from abroad because he had a travel restriction order for failing to pay child support for his two children.
09:11Let's take a very first break, but remember you can join us on our technical account at Celestory English, where you'll be able to see news in different formats and news updates somewhere.
09:22Stay tuned because we'll be right back.

13:57Tensions between China and Japan scales after Japanese Prime Minister's statements on the risk of military intervention if China takes actions against Taiwan.
14:20This Sunday Chinese military operations began with naval patrol in the waters of the Senkaku Islands, controlled by Japan, but claimed by China under the name of the Oju.
14:32This naval exercise is only the beginning of large-scale maneuvers that Beijing will carry out in the Yellow Sea between Monday and Wednesday.
14:41China opposed the interference of other countries in Taiwan as it is an internal matter and red line that no one should cross.
14:51The provocative remarks on Taiwan recently made by Japanese Prime Minister Sunei Takeuchi have seriously undermined the political foundation of China-Japan relations and worsened public sentiment between the two countries.
15:05The environment and conditions for the previous joint public opinion survey results have undergone major changes, requiring reconsideration of the relevance and timing of publishing the results.
15:14The responsibility for this lies with the erroneous remarks of the Japanese leader.
15:19Regardless of which party or individual governs Japan, it must adhere to and honor the government's commitments on the Taiwan question.
15:25We urge Japan to act responsibly toward history and bilateral relations, stop crossing lines and playing with fire, retract its erroneous words and actions, and genuinely implement its commitments to China through concrete actions.

18:13She's accused of oversaw a crowddown on student-led anti-government protesters last year that left at least 1,400 people dead.
18:23Hazina had planned and not guilty to the charges and alleged death predicted as veins and politically motivated.
