00:00Novoa loses the Ecuadorian people said no in all four questions in the referendum
00:15prepared by the president in a direct rejection of his government and proposals.
00:20The left-wing presidential candidate Janet Hara and far-right Jose Antonio Kast
00:29had to Chile's run-off elections after almost 33% of vouts counted.
00:37In Bangladesh, the International Crimes Tribunal of Dhaka has sentenced former Prime Minister
00:47Sheikh Hazina to death for crimes against humanity over her government's management of student-led
00:53protest in 2024.
00:54Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:06We begin with the news.
01:20In Ecuador, the first preliminary results released by the National Electoral Council showed rejection
01:26in all four questions of the popular consultation and referendum.
01:30With more than half of the votes counted, the largest gap is in the referendum on drafting
01:36a new constitution, where the no-vote leads with 60.8%.
01:41On the elimination of the van on foreign military bases, the no-vote stands at 59.1%.
01:47Meanwhile, on the reduction of the number of legislators in the National Assembly and the
01:53public financing of political parties, the no-vote has a majority of 56.7% and 52.8% respectively.
02:05The public scrutiny is being carried out with the presence of representatives of social and
02:11political organizations as well as national and international observers.
02:15Although voting has concluded, the transmission of results will begin at approximately 7 o'clock
02:33p.m.
02:34This is because the polling stations must classify, count, and generate the records so that they
02:40can subsequently be processed and published.
02:47The National Electoral Council is making the website, the CNE app, and the digital repository
02:54available as official media for following the results of the 2025 referendum and popular
03:02consultation minute by minute.
03:07It is important to emphasize to the public that it is necessary to update the CNE app on
03:13mobile devices.
03:17In this regard, we reiterate our call to political and social organizations, observation missions,
03:26the media, and the general public to stay informed through the institutional media of the CNE,
03:34the only institution responsible for announcing the results.
03:40In this context, the President of the Citizens Revolution Party, Luisa González, pointed out
03:44that the result of the referendum marks the unity of the Ecuadorian people in rejecting
03:49Daniel Novoa's neoliberal measures.
03:55And today, with that vote, it is clear that the security of the state and the future of
04:00this country does not depend on a constitution that they want to change to make Ecuador the
04:05Novoa corporation.
04:07It depends on a government that knows how to work, that knows how to work with conscience,
04:13with love, for the country, and not for its pocket or for its corporation.
04:18And in the fight against crime and the mafias, they say that it is the constitution that does
04:24not allow them to control the mafias.
04:27When the prisoners have come out dressed as a military by the main door, when they inaugurate
04:33a maximum security prison of 35% to make a show, and they make fun of us, when they have
04:40just captured people with the same constitution that has shown that what they are looking for
04:47is to manipulate us, but the Ecuadorian people react and makes up and says, Novoa, no, this
04:54country is dignified people.
05:03After the results of the Ecuadorian national referendum, the president of the Citizens Revolution
05:07Party, Luisa González, granted an exclusive interview to our multimedia platform following
05:13the management of the current Ecuadorian president.
05:15Daniel Novoa, let's listen.
05:17My analysis, I'm not seeing really to go straight to a proper way to the Ecuador.
05:25I'm not seeing any sides of the Novoa conducting in a proper way to the homeland.
05:32It doesn't have a proper team.
05:35And the people that is in front of different administrations, like, by example, the interior
05:41ministry, which depends on the security of the state, is not doing a good use of the
05:47resources and investment.
05:49And he barely has used a 4% of the budget.
05:52And he doesn't have a strategic knowledge man, the minister in front.
05:58And I have to say, it's just bachelor is doesn't have the experience, the technique, the knowledge
06:04meant about the security of the state is surrounded by France, but not expert in a country as Ecuador
06:11with the violence levels being the second, the violent, the more violent in the world.
06:20Babies from nine months to two years has been a murder in the hands of violence.
06:26He needs people with a lot of experience and we're not having that as a country now.
06:31And we need to Ecuador to move forward.
06:34And in a government as the Novoa, we'll have to change all the cabinet and to get around
06:40the people with experience.
06:41And we're not seeing that in a short time.
06:43During her interview, Luisa Gonzalez highlighted the wrong use of the budget and how it affects
06:49the health and education sectors.
06:52...public relationships into buying, voting.
06:59There's no proper strategy for the conducting of Ecuador.
07:04And there's a lot of things to use this money from the public.
07:08And it's not being used inefficiently.
07:11They're not doing the proper use, but on the top of that, to pay the debt of the dialysis unit,
07:21we have more than 1,000 of renal patients in the dialysis clinics.
07:28And the next could be also to fix the educational infrastructure.
07:32We have more than 4,000 young adults that go out of the educational system.
07:39And we know now that the 60% that the criminal bans are formed by young persons to rescue them is fundamental.
07:50We could have get the medicines to save life from the Ecuadorians.
07:55Almost a half of the population is from poverty to extreme poverty, going to the public hospitals.
08:01And as a result, we don't have even syringes.
08:04There are no meds.
08:05That's the proper use of the resources.
08:08The infrastructure from the streets, we have more and more deaths by traffic accidents because of the infrastructure.
08:16The roads and the state highways are reducing.
08:20The 60% fail and more.
08:24We have more ideas of investment, but they don't have how to manage the state.
08:29They only know about propaganda.
08:31And that's why the entire Ecuador is saying no to Ecuador.
08:35It's saying against it.
08:37And it's an abrupt fail what this government has now after this whole investment into the campaign.
08:46And we stay in Ecuador.
08:48The no vote that won in the referendum promoted by President Daniel Novoa sparked euphoric celebrations in Ecuador's major cities such as Quito and Guayaquil.
08:58Social organizations called on citizens to celebrate the triumph of the no as a victory for democracy and the 2008 Constitution.
09:07Opposition leaders were quick to interpret these results as a clear message from the electorate to the president, whom they accused of attempting an authoritarian shift.
09:18This result marks an unavoidable turning point for the Novoa administration, forcing it to radically rethink its political and governing strategy.
09:37And left-wing presidential candidate Janet Jara won polls in Chile's general election, followed by far-right José Antonio Cast.
09:58With all votes counted, Jara obtained 26.85%, while Cast got 23.92%.
10:07Both candidates will face off in the presidential runoff to be held on December 14th.
10:12In third place emerged the People's Party, Franco Parisi, with 19.71%, who ran his campaign from abroad because he was subject to a restrictive order for failing to pay child support for his two children.
10:28In addition, Chileans will also renew all seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 23 of the 50 senators, with results pointing to an advantage for the ruling unity for Chile Collision.

16:28In Bangladesh, the International Crimes Tribunal of Dagha has sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death for crimes against humanity,
16:36over her government's management of student-led protests in 2024.
16:41The ousted politician was on trial in absentia since she fled the country in August last year living in neighbouring India.
16:51Three judge bench of the country's International Crimes Tribunal in Dagha convicted Hasina of crimes including incitement,
16:59orders to kill and inaction to prevent atrocities as she is accused of over-saw a crackdown on student-led anti-government protestors last year that left at least 1,400 people dead.
17:12Hasina had pledged not guilty to the charges and alleged the verdict was biased and politically motivated.
17:19The country's former Home Minister, Asadu Saman Kamal, was also awarded the death penalty.
17:29Following their sentences, the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh issued a statement calling on India to immediately hand over both convicted, stating that failing to comply would be a grave, unfriendly act.
17:42In other information, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo at least 100 people died after the collapse of an artisanal copper mine in the town of Mulondo.
18:03Artisan miners' associations confirmed the death toll of 100 and reported a dozen messings.
18:10While the official version attributes the collapse to heavy rains, civil organisations alleged that soldiers guarding the site opened fire on the miners causing the collapse.
18:21Also, the Minister of the Interior of Lualaba, Roy Kaumba, confirmed that surge operations are continuing to establish a definitive toll of victims.
18:32Now we go to Asia.
18:42Tensions between China and Japan escalate after Japanese Prime Minister's statements on the risk of military intervention if China takes action against Taiwan.
18:52This Sunday, Chinese military operations began with a naval patrol in the waters of Senkaku Islands, controlled by Japan, but also claimed by China under the name Diaoyu.
19:05This naval exercise is only the beginning of the large scale man-overs that Beijing will carry out in the Yellow Sea between Monday and Wednesday.
19:15China, in this context, opposes the interference of other countries in Taiwan as it is an internal matter and a red line that no one should cross.
19:25Now, and we stay in China, the Chinese Army Navy's Type 076 Sichuan amphibious assault ship completed its first sea trial.
19:43The three-day mission evaluated the propulsion and electrical systems of the locally built ship, among other equipments.
