00:00The government of Venezuela denounced the United States interference in the
00:14Bolivarian territory to the United Nations. Ecuador hurts into the 12th day
00:24of the general strike after the Confederation of Indigenous
00:28nationalities, decided to continue with the protest and all its demands.
00:37And the last vessel of the global sumo flotilla has been seized by Israeli commands.
00:47Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Belen de los Santos and from
00:51Atesor Studios in Havana, Cuba, we begin with the news.
00:58We now begin with the information. The government of Venezuela denounced the United States persistent
01:11interference in the Bolivarian territory to the United Nations. In his Telegram account, the foreign
01:18minister, Evangel, informed that the Venezuelan alternate ambassador to the United Nations,
01:24Joaquin Pérez, denounced the illegal incursion of U.S. fighter planes in Venezuela to the president
01:31of the Security Council, Vasily Aleksevich. In this regard, Ivan Hill reaffirmed that the act
01:37represents a threat to national sovereignty. In particular, he stressed that this aggression
01:43violates the norms of international law and the Chicago Convention on international civil aviation.
01:57And in this framework of international denunciation to the illegal military aggressions
02:02in the Caribbean, the U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hexed, reported yet another U.S. military attack
02:08directed against the vessel on the coast of Venezuela. The Pentagon leader informed that four
02:15men, which they described as narco-terrorists, were killed in the attack on the vessel. The military
02:21operation was carried out in international waters off the coast of Venezuela under the claim that the
02:28vessel was allegedly transporting narcotics destined for the United States. This aggression occurs in a
02:35scenario of constant U.S. military interference in the Caribbean under the justification of carrying out
02:43an anti-drug campaign. Venezuela has not yet published an official statement on this last event.
02:56Colombian President Gustavo Petro was the first to respond to this most recent U.S. aggression,
03:01taking to X to state that these illegal attacks are targeting poor young men in the Caribbean.
03:07There are no narco-terrorists on these boats, he said. The drug traffickers live in the U.S.,
03:14Europe and Dubai. Those boats carrying poor young people from the Caribbean. Firing missiles when
03:21interception is possible, as Colombia does, violates the universal legal principle of proportionality and
03:29therefore constitutes murder. The families of these young people must join forces.
03:42And the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also issued a statement warning about the recent military
03:47actions of the United States and alerting about the serious repercussions they will have for peace and
03:54stability in Latin America and the Caribbean. In a statement, the foreign ministry of the country
04:00asserted the extraordinary buildup of military resources in the southern Caribbean, the recent
04:06illegal incursions by U.S. combat aircraft into Venezuela's flight information region, the repeated
04:12destruction of civilian vessels and the murder of their crews, and the announcement that such military
04:19actions would be extended to land areas are now accompanied by the notification that the United
04:25States will not be engaged in a non-international armed conflict against illegal combatants.
04:33They denounce that a direct military aggression against Venezuela would trigger an armed conflict that
04:40would have incalculable consequences for the peace, security and stability of our Americas.
04:46And to conclude, they reiterate that Cuba's firm and unwavering support for the Bolivarian and Chavista
04:53government of Venezuela and for the popular and military unity of the Venezuelan people,
05:00military aggression must be stopped in order to preserve peace in Latin America and the Caribbean.
05:10We go now to the President of Bolivia, Luis Arce Catacora, who also condemned the violation of
05:15Venezuelan airspace by U.S. warplanes. In his Telegram account, the President expressed,
05:21we reiterate our solidarity with our brother President Nicolás Maduro and the brave Venezuelan
05:26people. In this regard, Arce added that they denounce the hostile attitude of the White House towards
05:34the region and its brazen piracy in order to control Venezuelan oil.
05:47And the Venezuelan Ministry of People's Power for Defense announced that the National Bolivarian Armed
05:53Forces had reported a helicopter crash in the state of Aragua. The official statement informs that at
06:00approximately 8.35 a.m., an ENSTROM 480 helicopter, acronym 61647 of the Bolivarian Military Aviation,
06:11crashed into the ground without communicating an emergency failure. It also states that the crashed
06:18aircraft was piloted in a training flight by Mayor Noglis Carolina Garcia Rondon, the instructor, who,
06:27together with Lieutenant Commander Carlos Alfonso Castillo Sanchez, a student pilot, tragically lost
06:32their lives. The Venezuelan government mourns the incident and they said that they are saddened and
06:39grieving by the irreparable loss of these valuable military professionals who, in faithful fulfillment
06:45of their duties, offered their lives in acts of service for the integral defense of the nation.
06:51We continue now with other topics. On Thursday, the Salvadoran Minister of Education, Carla Trigueros,
07:01announced that inclusive language is forbidden in all public educational centers and in the offices
07:07of the Ministry of Education, Sciences and Technology. The minister explained that the measure seeks to
07:13ensure the correct use of language, allegedly, and to protect children and adolescents from what
07:21they are describing as ideological influences that could affect their overall development. This
07:28decision was communicated through a memorandum addressed to educational centers, establishing
07:33that the prohibition would be mandatory nationwide in educational material content and books.
07:39This measure is contrary to the guidelines recommended by the United Nations, which support inclusive
07:45language and human rights.
07:54Now we have a short break coming up, but first, remember you can join us on TikTok,

08:02and much more. We'll be right back. Stay with us.
08:12Welcome back to From the South. We continue with more information. Ecuador heads into the 12th day of the
08:20general strike after the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities, de Conalle,
08:25decided to continue with its protests and all of its demands. The organization ratified that the
08:31strike is a legitimate expression of the peoples and the nationalities in the face of an authoritarian
08:38government. Likewise, it held firm each point of the agenda of struggle, which are among the most
08:46outstanding, the repeal of Decree 126, the protection of the land and ancestral territories, the reduction of
08:54the VAT tax and all guarantees to exercise the right to resistance, as well as a true justice of reparation
09:04for the victims. In addition, the Indigenous leaders announced on Thursday night, the implementation of
09:12territorial assemblies in all the provinces and communities of the country.
09:16resistance and solidarity with neighbourhood communities, social organizations
09:29and popular sectors, merchants, women, students, professionals
09:34and retirees to support the movement in defense of life, democracy and nature.
09:45We call on Ecuadorian society not to be fooled by the narratives of hate and fear promoted by those in power
09:52and to take on the task of building a just and dignified country.
10:01We establish a humanitarian corridor at the points of resistance to guarantee the safe passage of medicines,
10:08medical supplies and ambulances to hospitals and health centers, reaffirming that our struggle is for life
10:17and dignity and never against the people.
10:23And also on Thursday, Ecuador's Interior Minister John Rainberg threatened to detain former presidential candidate
10:29Luisa Gonzalez, accusing her of being an intellectual author of the Indigenous strike set to reach its 12th day
10:38on Friday. As we were saying, amid the social crisis facing the country worsened by the national strike
10:44called by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities, the official responsible for
10:49internal security pointed to alleged intellectual authors as those responsible for generating violence.
10:57However, various sectors question the government's handling of this protest as the brutal repression
11:04has transformed large peaceful demonstrations into intense confrontations which have already resulted in
11:11one death, numerous injuries and over a hundred arrests. The minister assured that the intellectual authors
11:19would be imprisoned.
11:27And hundreds of people gathered for the second consecutive week in front of the Broadview Illinois facility
11:33in Chicago to protest against the raids by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
11:39State Ice Agency. The protesters raised their voices against the anti-immigration measures taken by Donald
11:46Trump's administration and in support of the Global Summit Flotilla as well, which was illegally
11:52intercepted by Israel while heading to the Gaza Strip. The protesters who were carrying Palestinian flags
11:59were attacked with the teogas and some were arrested, including an elderly man. Also in this context,
12:07social organizations have denounced the illegal raids carried out by ICE, describing them as an unprecedented
12:16violation of human rights.
12:23Moving on to Spain, doctors went on strike this Friday against the draft framework statute proposed by the
12:30Ministry of Health for all healthcare providers. The demonstrators demanded that their own statute that
12:37recognizes the unique characteristics of the doctor's shorter working hours and recognition of on-call duty is
12:46overtime, among other demands. The Ministry of Health rejected a separate statute for doctors, arguing the draft
12:54of all healthcare personnel, reducing job insecurity and puts an end to 24-hour shifts, something that
13:02professionals had been demanding for decades. However, unions are claiming that doctors and physicians have been
13:10discriminated against since 2003 compared to other workers and professionals due to the additional shifts, which are
13:18mandatory until the age of 50 or 55 and paid at a lower rate than the ordinary hourly and do not count towards retirement.
13:33Tens of thousands of protesters across France took to the streets on Thursday to oppose government spending
13:39cuts and demand increased funding for education, social security and student support. Organized by unions and student
13:47groups, these demonstrations followed earlier large-scale protests in September, including the Block Everything
13:54movement and a major union-backed strike. According to the Interior Ministry, around 195,000 people participated
14:02nationwide, with about 24,000 in Paris alone. The protests caused disruption in major cities, including temporary
14:11closures of roads, subway stations and bus stops near rally sites.
14:17The unrest comes after former Prime Minister François Bayrou's austerity plan, which included scrapping
14:24two public holidays and cutting health insurance funding, faced strong resistance in parliament and among the public.
14:38In other news on Thursday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, reported that in
14:43Haiti criminal groups violence has left more than 16,000 people dead in just three years. According to the report
14:51presented by the organization, this violence has also left more than 1.3 million people displaced,
14:59a situation never seen before. It also referred to the plied of children subjected to all kinds of abuses and exploitation,
15:06and also foresees an even more lethal scenario if action is not taken immediately. In addition to the death, the research
15:14counts more than 7,000 wounded and warns that so far in 2025, 3,000 murders have been registered. The report
15:24questioned the lethality of the actions of both national and foreign security forces. However, it supported the sending of more troops to this Caribbean nation.
15:34I am concerned that state law enforcement agencies have used a necessary and disproportionate lethal force
15:45against gangs. For example, law enforcement operations account for more than half of the killings and injuries
15:51recorded so far this year. And now we have a second short break coming up. But before we invite you to
15:58tune in tonight for a special interview with the director of Latin American Department of the Russian Foreign
16:04Ministry, Alexander Shetnin. Join us at 8.30 p.m. Quito time, 9.30 p.m. Caracas, Havana and New York time,
16:13only on Telesur. Final short break. Don't go away.
16:27And we continue with more from the south. The last vessel of the Global Sumit Flotilla has been seized by
16:39Israeli commands. The sole boat carrying aid to the besieged Gaza from the flotilla has now been captured
16:47by Israel forces off the coast of the Palestinian territory. In this context, the live stream video
16:53showed Israeli forces forcing their way on board the vessel Friday morning before the live stream was cut.
17:01The Polish flagged marionette, which reportedly has a crew of six, was the last remaining operational
17:07vessel. Now all 44 vessels that aim to break the Israeli blockade in Gaza have been stopped and
17:14hundreds of activists were detained by Israel.
17:27And the streets of Italy have been the scene of intense protests over the illegal interception of
17:32the Global Sumit Flotilla and the abduction of the fleet members by military forces of the sinus
17:38state of Israel. In Rome, around 10,000 people marched from the Colosseum in support of the Palestinian
17:46people and in protest against the crimes against the flotilla. In this scenario, the USB and the CGIL,
17:55two of the country's largest trade unions, called for a nationwide strike on Friday,
18:00their interrupted train services and port traffic. Demonstrators marched to the Germany's
18:06central train station while other rallies were placed in Palermo, Santo Turin and Milan gathering
18:14thousands of people. Protestors accused the right-wing government of Georgia Meloni of taking a position
18:21that was critical of the flotilla in which dozens of Italians were participating.
18:27And in Israel, protests took place against the government's illegal interception of the flotilla
18:46as well. On Friday, near the Gaza border, anti-Sionist protesters blocked troops on their way to Palestinian
18:53territory. Soldiers and police forcibly removed the demonstrators, clearing the path for troops
19:00and military vehicles. The protesters carried banners demanding international sanctions against Israel
19:07and an end to the genocidal occupation. They also demanded the release of the flotilla. Crew
19:13members kidnapped during the interception and the immediate entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
19:23The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez, joined the voices of those denouncing this illegal
19:40interception of the flotilla. Through a post on his ex-account, the Cuban top diplomat shared,
19:46stating that we condemn the detention of the more than 400 members of the global summit flotilla by
19:53Israeli forces who must be released immediately, adding that Israel must cease to its disrespect for
20:02international law and its blocate and genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
20:07Meanwhile, on Friday, the Israeli occupation forces have killed at least 50 Palestinians during bombardments
20:23and airstrikes against the Gaza Strip. The Israeli occupation forces continued their airstrike and
20:28shelling against the civilian population, intensifying the attacks on Gaza City. Health authorities reported that
20:35the corpses were distributed to some of the hospitals in the Palestinian enclave while rescue teams recovered two
20:43bodies from under the rubble of the Afalah school in the Seytel neighborhood. In this context,
20:49numerous civilians, mostly children, were injured. Medical sources estimated that by October 2025,
20:57more than 62,600 Palestinians have been killed and about 168,900 have been wounded by the Zionist occupation regime.
