00:00Also in Cuba, recovery after the passage of Hurricane Melisa through the eastern provinces advances thanks to the joint efforts of lineman brigades from several provinces and the solidarity and support of Venezuela.
00:14Our correspondent Isabel Díaz-González brings us more details.
00:18They are the face of the solidarity that bonds Cuba and Venezuela.
00:22Having become a true hurricane of love, they are supporting the recovery force following the metrological event and extract the east of the largest island.
00:30In the Antilles, more than two weeks ago.
00:34When we arrived here, the disasters were much worse than anything we had already seen.
00:39We were asked to attend to some circuits in the municipality of Santiago and this 33 kilowatts line, which supplies the municipality of Guamá, specifically Chiberico, which is its municipality capital.
00:51With a fairly considerable population scattered along the entire route, along the entire route from Santiago to Chiberico, approximately 60 or 30 kilometers.
01:00There are several settlements, all of which receive power through this line and are currently affected.
01:06We arrived here several days ago and have been working on the power line ever since.
01:14First, we arrived and did a reconnaissance.
01:17Then, we started working with what little we had because at first there was nothing except what we could find.
01:24And we started to repair it.
01:26The welcome was very good.
01:27We feel comfortable here.
01:28They have treated us wonderful and we can't complain about anything.
01:34And, well, we decided to come and we are going to work and help the people, the Cuban people here.
01:39We are working together and learning as much as we can, sharing knowledge from them to us and from us to them.
02:04We are getting used to the working methods because they have a different system to us.
02:12But we are getting there.
02:14We are doing well.
02:15We would like to express our deep gratitude to all the power line workers in our province,
02:26from other provinces and neighboring countries, for their gestures of solidarity with all those affected here in our municipality.
02:37Despite the fact that we have not yet restored electricity service,
02:41they are working hard with great dedication and sacrifice from all these people.
02:47Today, under the watchful eye of national and local authorities,
02:51Santiago da Cue is moving forward with the rehabilitation of its electrical networks as a top priority,
02:57joining forces in difficult times.
03:00Twelve Venezuelan brothers join us in the repair work of the 5335 sub-transmission circuit.
03:06Together with us, well, we are rehabilitating that line,
03:10putting up the poles, climbing the conductors, which are heavy conductors,
03:14and little by little, we are rehabilitating everything as quickly as possible.
03:19Thus, Cuba and Venezuela create together a page of resilience and brotherhood,
03:24demonstrating the strength of the bonds that unite both peoples.
