01:09The Argentine Senate approved early Friday morning with the 37 votes in favor and 33 against the bill on the
01:16inviolability of private property, but the controversial provisions were removed.
01:20In this context, the ruling party has been forced to remove the provisions authorizing the sale of rural land to
01:27foreign investors, and in a separate vote, it also removed amendments to the fire management law, a bill promoted by
01:33Maximo Crisner in 2021 that protects ecosystems in the wake of fires.
01:38Senators from CĂłrdoba, Santa Cruz, Misiones, TucumĂĄn and Chubut stopped the advance proposed by the far-right in alliance with
01:46two radical party senators.
01:47It is important to highlight that while the debate was taking place, social and political organizations mobilized amidst the brutality
01:54of state forces, which resulted in at least nine people arrested and 1,500 wounded, one of them with serious

22:48It limits police questioning, detainers, and release coordination,
22:52protects guardianship plans,
22:55mandates workplace inspection notices,
22:57speeds victim visa certifications,
22:59and creates a state constitutional claim
23:01against federal officers.
23:03Having law in place to prevent ICE
23:07to be in some sensitive, we call sensitive location,
23:10that is like hospital, schools, court,
23:14I think this is going to make a difference
23:16for people to seek justice.
23:18But the law upholds the controversial 287G agreement
23:22with the Department of Correction,
23:24keeping Massachusetts as the only democratic-led state
23:27in the nation with any 287G agreement still in place.
23:31We should not be doing the work of ICE in Massachusetts, period.
23:37And we should not have circumstances
23:40where ICE can interfere with people
23:43who are going through our criminal justice system.
23:45Earlier this year, Maryland ended every 287G agreement.
23:50Oregon now tracks immigration requests.
23:53Cambridge, Somerville, and other municipalities
23:55in Massachusetts have barred ICE
23:57from using city property as staging grounds.
24:01The law's impact now depends on enforcement
24:03and public knowledge.
24:05We should celebrate this accomplishment,
24:09but we should know that this is still a lot of work to be done.
24:12We really have to be proactive about it.
