00:00In the past 24 hours, Russian attacks on Ukraine have killed at least nine people and injured 53.
00:10Thousands of demonstrators have turned out on the streets of Belem, Brazil,
00:14where the UN climate talks have been held to demand urgent action on the climate crisis.
00:21At least nine people have been killed and 53 have been injured over the past 24 hours by
00:27Russian strikes in Ukraine, according to regional authorities. Russian attacks on Ukraine
00:33continued from Friday into Saturday, launching three ballistic missiles as well as 135 different
00:41strike drones, including Shahids. Ukraine's armed forces said two of the ballistic missiles and
00:4891 of the drones were either shot down or jammed. Meanwhile, Ukraine's defense forces confirmed
00:54attacks on an oil refinery in the Russian city of Ryazan, a radar in Russian-occupied Crimea,
01:01a military train in the Zaporizhia Oblast and a cluster of Russian troops near the city of
01:07Vovshansk in the region of Kharkiv. On Friday, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine using 430
01:15drones and 18 missiles, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Seven people were
01:21killed in Kiev and at least 36 were injured. Thousands of protesters took their message
01:29again to the gates of the COP30 climate talks in Brazil, blocking the venue in a peaceful standoff.
01:36Indigenous communities, Brazilian youth groups and activists joined the march in their thousands to
01:42call for action during the crucial UN climate summit. Speaking about the effects of climate change
01:49in their home countries, activists advocated for youth representation in the UN negotiations.
01:55This is the future that we are talking about. It is about the survival of our species. And yet,
02:01the decision makers sitting at the table today, those in the negotiation panels,
02:06those who are at the blue zones and their air-conditioned rooms, are talking about, you know,
02:10the people and yet the actual victims, the actual communities are not in the table, are not in
02:16the conversation. It was the first time in three years that protesters have been allowed to demonstrate
02:22outside the UN climate talks. The demonstrations, which have been disrupting the talks, come in a
02:28conference that organizers have promoted as empowering and celebrating native peoples.
02:34Communist candidate Janet Jara and her far-right opponent, José Antonio Cast, will face off this Sunday
02:45in Chile's presidential elections after four years in office of leftist Gabriel Cori. While issues of security
02:53have been central in this campaign, centre-right Evelyn Matei has promised jail or cemetery for criminals.
03:00I'm going to vote for Cass, because I think he will solve the problems of this country that
03:07we already have agobiated. He can't leave because he is with a lot of delinquency. I think he
03:15will arreglar all those things.
03:16I vote for Janet Jara because I think it is the person who is the most
03:19aterrizated in the needs of the people, because I think I am a radical person and because I think it is necessary
03:25to advance in the rights of the modern world, in the values that have the modern world.
03:29Jara, a former Labour minister and the only representative of the unity for Chile bloc,
03:35has already made history by becoming the first communist to lead a unified left-wing ticket.
03:45Pope Leo welcomed representatives from the movie industry to the Vatican on Saturday. The pontiff wishes to
03:53open dialogue with the world of cinema, seeing artistic creativity as a way to support the church's
04:00mission and promote human values. The Pope welcomed celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, Monica Bellucci,
04:07Stefania Sandrelli and Greta Gerwig. At the end of the Mass, those present greeted the Pope and some brought
04:15him gifts like Spike Lee who handed him a basketball jersey. Pope Leo affirmed that cinema is more than just
04:22moving pictures because it sets hope in motion, adding that cinema must not be afraid of confronting
04:29the wounds of the world, such as violence, poverty, exile, loneliness or addictions. Pope Leo recently
04:37listed his favourite films including The Sound of Music and the 1997 comedy-drama Life is Beautiful.
