00:16leaves hundreds of people dead or missing.
00:22NATO Chief Mark Rutte has downplayed concerns over the partial withdrawal of US troops from
00:28Romania, saying their force in Europe remains, quote, larger than ever.
00:36In a visit to Romania on Wednesday, Rutte explained that adjustments to US military are not unusual
00:43and that Washington remains committed to defending the alliance's eastern flank.
00:50The US announced last week that it would withdraw a rotating brigade currently stationed in the
00:57country and not replace it, insisting in a statement that it's a positive sign of increased European
01:03capability.
01:04A NATO exercise this month in Romania and Bulgaria, in which some 5,000 troops will take part,
01:12shows that the bloc is capable of immediate, large-scale movements, says Romanian president
01:16Niekarsur Dan.
01:30large-scale movements, says Romanian President Nicolás Dan.
01:57After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, NATO has bolstered its presence
02:03on Europe's eastern flank substantially.
02:08A state of emergency has been declared in the Philippines after Typhoon Kalmeghi left
02:13at least 140 people dead with fears the death toll may rise in what is the biggest natural
02:20disaster to hit the country this year.
02:23President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said a state of national calamity measure will allow the
02:28government to disperse emergency funds faster and prevent food hoarding and overpricing.
02:36The typhoon on Wednesday began to blow away from western Palawan province into the South
02:41China Sea with sustained winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 180 kilometers
02:49per hour.
02:51The Philippines' Office of Civil Defense said nearly 2 million people have been impacted
02:56by the typhoon's devastation.
02:58Local officials said around 127 people were still missing, many of them in the severely
03:04affected central province of Cebu, a bustling province that was still recovering from a 6.9
03:11magnitude earthquake that struck in September.
03:14Defense ministers of the Joint Expeditionary Force have met with their Ukrainian counterparts
03:25in Norway to launch an enhanced partnership with Ukraine.
03:28The partnership with Ukraine is being seen as a milestone for strengthening Euro-Atlantic
03:33security in the Nordic-Baltic region.
03:35So this is a powerful signal to Putin and any other would-be aggressors, that Jeff is stronger
03:44than ever, more united than ever, more innovative than ever, more flexible in our operational
03:53responses than ever.
03:57Established in 2014, Jeff is a UK-led multinational force made up of 10 European countries.
04:03The coalition seeks to learn from Ukraine's battlefield experience.
04:07In exchange, Jeff countries will deliver training to the Ukrainian armed forces and collaborate
04:12on the protection of critical underwater infrastructure, drones and battlefield medicine.
04:18From partners including Jeff countries, Ukraine seeks access to European technologies and production
04:24capacities on the basis of which we could launch joint manufacturing.
04:30This modern weaponry will not only defend Ukraine now, it will guarantee Europe's security for
04:38years to come and reliably protect its eastern flank from permanent Russian aggression.
04:44The meeting follows the conclusion last week of Tarasys, the coalition's two-month-long
04:49operation across the Nordic-Baltic region.
04:52Brussels Zavon Thames Airport is still feeling the aftershock of Tuesday's drone sightings,
05:03which forced the city's main airport to close and left dozens of flights grounded.
05:10The country's defence minister told local media that the incident appeared to be carried out
05:15by professionals, intent on destabilizing the country.
05:20All departing and arriving flights were temporarily suspended, forcing hundreds of passengers to
05:25spend the night at the airport.
05:27It's very difficult for us to manage all of this, but we are doing our best.
05:32All our staff are here.
05:33We have also beneficiaries who are coming from the office to distribute bottles of water,
05:38little snacks, to do everything we can to calm the situation.
05:44Lige Airport, used principally as a cargo hub, was also closed due to drone sightings on Tuesday.
05:52Both airports have now reopened, but officials have warned that disruptions are expected to
05:57continue and that passengers should be prepared for delays.
06:02Both NATO and the European Union have been on high alert recently, following a string of
06:07airspace violations thought to be carried out by Russia.
06:11Chinese fast fashion giant Shein opened its very first physical store this Wednesday at
06:22the BHV store right in the heart of Paris.
06:25And the timing couldn't be more explosive as France is set to become the first country
06:31in the world to crack down on ultra-fast fashion.
06:35Queues stretched for dozens of meters outside since the morning.
06:40And shoppers say they're here for the low prices.
06:43It's not cheap.
06:45We don't find 5% of euros on other sites.
06:49It's quality, but not too quality.
06:53But for the price, it's good.
06:55It's just to be a nice company, a nice price, a nice product.
07:01And only this.
07:03The details, I don't look for the details.
07:05I don't watch the news.
07:07For me, I separate the story.
07:10I don't care about the story or the background.
07:14But on the other side of the street, the anger is palpable.
07:18Protesters denounced the brand's record on labour rights, the environment, and now,
07:24a new scandal involving childlike sex dolls.
07:28I think it's honteux that the BHV store can open up such a teaching.
07:35It's flippant.
07:36It's children.
07:37And in addition, with the specificity,
07:40the description,
07:41very specific,
07:42so that the pedo-crimineers can exercise on it.
07:46And tomorrow, it will be able to pass an act.
07:49So, we encourage this kind of thing.
07:52So, it makes me crazy.
07:54It makes me crazy.
07:55It makes me crazy as a survivor of a victim of a minor victim,
07:59not with a sexual character, but as a victim, as a victim.
08:04And I, it worries me.
08:06Several French brands have withdrawn from the BHV store in protest,
08:11while the government announced it will be initiating proceedings
08:15to suspend Xi'in's online platform until it complies with French law.
08:20The Chinese brand says it has banned all adult products
08:23and is reviewing its screening measures.
08:26But for many, this isn't just about fashion.
08:29It's about where France draws the line between cheap clothing and ethics.
08:37A motorist deliberately rammed pedestrians and cyclists
08:40across two neighboring towns on France's Île de Leront,
08:44injuring five people before being detained, according to officials.
08:49Two of the injured were in critical condition,
08:51according to the Interior Minister,
08:53adding that an investigation was underway.
08:56The incident took place along roadside areas between two towns.
09:11Authorities said it looked like the driver aimed to hit as many people
09:17as possible.
09:24Media reports identified the suspect as a 35-year-old French national
09:30residing in La Coutinière, a small fishing village on the west coast of the island.
09:36The lives of millions of Americans continue to be disrupted
09:44as the U.S. government shutdown entered its 36th day,

09:51The shutdown has led to federal program cuts, flight delays,
09:55and federal workers nationwide left without paychecks.
09:58U.S. President Donald Trump is meeting for breakfast with GOP senators on Wednesday,
10:04but has refused to negotiate with Democrats over their demands
10:07to salvage expiring health insurance subsidies
10:10until they agree to reopen the government.
10:13In the meantime, food aid, childcare funds,
10:16and countless other government services are being seriously interrupted
10:20and hundreds of thousands of federal workers have been furloughed
10:24or expected to come to work without pay.
10:27The loss of enhanced federal subsidies
10:29are expected to leave many people unable to buy health insurance.
10:33The White House says its position remains unchanged
10:36and that Democrats must vote to fund the government
10:39before talks over health care can begin.
10:41A UPS cargo plane crashed in Kentucky, Louisville,
10:48killing at least seven people and injuring 11 others,

10:54The plane exploded in a massive fireball Tuesday evening
10:58while taking off from the shipping company's Global Aviation Hub in Louisville.
11:03According to officials, four of those killed were not on the plane.
11:08Anybody who has seen the images in the video know how violent this crash is.
11:18And there are a lot of families that are going to be waiting
11:21and wondering for a period of time.
11:23We're going to try to get them that information as fast as we can,
11:27but if this is a family you know, please give them your support.
11:31The shipping and logistics company, UPS, announced that
11:35it had altered package sorting at the centre following the tragedy.
