Don't let clear aligners mess up your day! This video reveals my essential "Invisalign Survival Kit" for maintaining perfect oral hygiene when you're away from home and eating out.
I show you:
The crucial items I pack (brush, mints, case).
A quick step-by-step routine for clean teeth.
My simple enamel protection hack using remineralizing paste inside the trays.
Keep your treatment on track and your smile clean, no matter where you are!
00:00That's pretty much my life at the moment, my new routine with these Invisalign aligners in.
00:08So I'm about to go out and I wanted to show you my Day Tooth Kit.
00:32So anyone that's following this channel knows I'm on an Invisalign journey at the moment.
00:36So I'm wearing my Invisalign clear aligners at the moment.
00:40So when you're out and about during the day, you're going to want to take something with you to look after your aligners
00:46because you're going to have to take them out to eat during the day.
00:49So this is what I use. I have Xylitol mints with me.
00:53So this is what's in my kit. This is what I'll carry around wherever I'm going.
00:57These mints are excellent. Xylitol has got so many benefits for teeth.
01:01I will use these mints whether I'm wearing aligners or not because Xylitol can try and fight the bacteria that causes cavities in your mouth.
01:09And it also helps facilitate remineralization from either your saliva or from a remineralizing paste that you might be using,
01:18which I am using and I'm going to show you that in a minute, but the benefits of Xylitol fatigue are extensive.
01:24You can look it up. And so I do use Xylitol mints.
01:27So that's in my kit. I'll pop that there.
01:30Now, the next thing that's in my kit is you can use whatever container you want, but I do use the container that came with the actual Invisalign kit.
01:41Basically, this is the little case that came with my aligners.
01:45And so what I'll do is whenever I eat something, I'll take the aligners out, give them a rinse in cold water,
01:52and I'll just pop them temporarily in this case while I eat something.
01:56And then when I've finished eating and I'm ready to put them back in, I'll obviously get them out of this case.
02:01So I do carry this case around.
02:03But look, any container I imagine that you want to bring would do the trick.
02:08So if I'm in a situation where I can brush my aligners when they come out.
02:15I mean, you know, if I'm visiting a friend or if you're in a workplace and you feel that you want to have a brush,
02:21you can always have a brush with you. You don't have to.
02:25This is, I hate saying it, it's a denture brush.
02:30I did actually buy it just for my aligners because it's got that curve in it here.
02:35And I do find that it actually brushes the aligners quite well.
02:39So it wasn't my finest moment buying a denture brush, but thankfully it's not for dentures.
02:45It is for my Invisalign aligners.
02:47So I do carry this brush around if I'm in a situation where I can brush them.
02:52Now, this is, so this is just a personal choice for me.
02:56I actually use food, food handling gloves to take my Invisalign aligners out and to put them back in.
03:04To me, it just feels a little bit more hygienic.
03:07I know my hands, obviously, when you're out and about shopping, whatever.
03:12No matter how well I wash my hands, I don't really like putting my hands in my mouth that much.
03:17So I use these little food handling gloves.
03:20So I'll always just carry a pair around with me.
03:22And this is probably my best friend at the moment for wearing these aligners.
03:28And you might even see a little bit of white still in my aligners from when I just popped them in this morning.
03:35But I carry this GC Tooth Mousse.
03:38You can use any remineralizing paste or gel of your choice.
03:42But GC Tooth Mousse contains calcium and phosphate and it is actually remineralizing your teeth.
03:50So it is putting those minerals back in your teeth.
03:53And this will work where your saliva might be lacking.
03:56People use it if they've got dry mouth.
03:58Because when you're wearing aligners, you're not getting that natural saliva flow over your teeth that you would normally during the day.
04:06So this is where this comes in.
04:09And I actually put it inside my aligners so that mousse is against my teeth all the time while I'm wearing them.
04:17So when I take them out, I'll rinse them off in cold water.
04:21Don't ever use hot water because hot water can warp them.
04:24Pop them in the case, eat something.
04:26Then when I finish eating, I'll, you know, rinse off my mouth.
04:29You don't want obvious food particles in your mouth when you're putting these back in.
04:32And then before I put my aligners back in, I'm going to line them with my GC Tooth Mousse and then pop them back in.
04:42So to take them out, this was what my dentist told me.
04:46And this obviously is not medical advice.
04:48Always follow your health professional or dentist's advice for your situation.
04:54But for my situation, what my dentist advised is to start at the back.
04:58So I start on the top right hand side here and I sort of squeeze the aligner and then pull it down with my teeth.
05:06And then I'll just sort of, you know, work my way around and pull it from the front.
05:11And the back, the bottom, sorry, the bottom is trickier.
05:16I'll again start from the back and really sort of pinch it up.
05:19And the kit does come with a plastic hook that you can use to try and lift them up.
05:24But I don't use the hook.
05:26I just use my finger then to work them up and over my teeth.
05:30So it's a bit awkward.
05:33And this is actually week two of these aligners now.
05:37So yeah, the aligners are tight and awkward basically.
05:43So you can see I started from the back and work my way around to the front.
06:04And that sort of clicking and all that cracking sound.
06:07Don't worry, you're not pulling your teeth out.
06:09My dentist did reassure me that you will not pull your teeth out.
06:12And you can probably see there's still a little bit of that tooth mousse in there,
06:16which has been against my teeth the whole time I've been wearing this.
06:20So I'll pop these aside and I'll take these bottom ones out.
06:30There we go.
06:31And then, and then that's out.
06:32And then, now I'm just going to rinse them in cold water and use my brush.
06:36Okay, so I've taken them out.
06:38So I'm just going to rinse them in cold water.
06:41Don't use hot because hot can warp the plastic.
06:48And in fact, even wearing these if you have a too hot drink is apparently not a good idea either.
06:54And then, if I am in a situation where I can brush them, I'll just use the brush.
07:00And you can see how well this brush kind of curves into the shape of the aligner.
07:10I brush these with toothpaste twice a day.
07:16But when I'm out and about, because we're talking about my day tooth kit,
07:21I don't re-toothpaste with me during the day.
07:24Okay, so then I'll just give them a really good shake out so they're not too wet.
07:29And then I'll just pop them back into this case.
07:34Oops.
07:40There.
07:41So they're in there.
07:45So that's done.
07:46And then I'll just be able to eat something.
07:48And then obviously I'll just pop, you know, all this back in my little, I've got my tooth mousse there.
07:53Just pop the brush back in there.
07:55And I've got my mint.
07:57Now, often what I'll do, as soon as I take out the aligners as well, I'll have a little bit of granular xylitol if I'm here at home.
08:03Just as I'm taking the aligners out, just to get that saliva flowing.
08:07But if I'm out and about with my day kit, I'll just have a mint.
08:11Pretty much as soon as I've taken the aligners out.
08:14Because that just gets that saliva flowing, moistens your mouth and, you know, it just feels good after you take out the aligners.
08:22Then I'll eat something.
08:25So, you know, that will be half an hour or so.
08:28And then I'll show you what I do before, always before putting the aligners in.
08:34First, I'll rinse out my mouth with water so that there's not obvious bits of food, like I said earlier.
08:40And then this is probably, probably the best trick that I'm happy that I'm doing with these aligners.
08:49And that is my tooth mousse.
08:51So, I'll just take the aligners out of the case.
08:54You know, give them another shake out.
08:56You don't want too much water in the aligners when you're putting this tooth mousse in.
09:01Because otherwise the tooth mousse can get a little bit sort of, it won't really grip inside the aligner as well.
09:07So then what I'll do is I will squeeze a little bit of this tooth mousse in here.
09:15So you can see how the tooth mousse is slippery because the aligner is a little bit wet still.
09:19And then I'll just use my finger and I'll pop on another pair of gloves after eating to do this.
09:28I'll just spread the mousse through the aligner, just in a few spots.
09:35So it's sort of got, and that'll, that'll sort of spread a little bit when I put them in.
09:42Oh man, I'll pop a little bit there.
09:47And like I said, again, as you're wearing it, it sort of spreads around a little bit more.
10:05And then I will put them back in.
10:08And I'll put them back in really happy with this tooth mousse in there.
10:11Because after eating normally your, you know, your sort of, your teeth are getting that good contact with saliva.
10:18And they'll be remineralizing with these aligners, that flow of saliva is not, not happening as, as it would normally.
10:24So this tooth mousse is just going to be pushing that calcium and phosphate directly back into my teeth.
10:30And the aligners will actually make sure that that tooth mousse has longer contact with your teeth too.
10:36So I actually think that perhaps it'll be a good thing for my teeth to, to be putting these minerals in.
10:42Okay.
10:43So I'll put them back in.
10:44So, um, to put them back in, I just pretty much put them straight in first and then I'll work the back.
10:50The back is awkward, but, um,
10:54And you just have to work it with your thumb.
11:10That's in the more you do this, the more you get used to it.
11:13And pop that in and then with this tooth mousse going everywhere, I always have to wipe my mouth.
11:28And so then I'll have a bit of tooth mousse in my mouth as well.
11:31But you can easily, you can safely swallow that.
11:33I've got the original, so it doesn't have fluoride in it.
11:35I wouldn't swallow if you're using the GC tooth mousse plus, it's got fluoride in it.
11:40I wouldn't swallow that.
11:42I'll just maybe, if you can, get to a sink or a bathroom if you've got excess and just spit that out.
11:47So there, that's, that's pretty much my routine at the moment with these aligners and, and how I work it during the day.
11:56So I've always got this little kit with me and then, um, and then usually in the evening I'll give this a little bit of a rinse off with water and just leave it open overnight to dry.
12:07Because one hint I did read on a dental site is that that bacteria die when they dry.
12:14So that's why you want to dry your toothbrush as well.
12:17You don't want to have your toothbrush sitting there wet all the time.
12:20You want to dry it.
12:21So I would just leave that overnight to dry.
12:23And then it'll be ready the next day again, when I'm going out and I'll have this same with the brush.
12:29I'll take the brush out and dry it too.
12:32And I'll always sort of replenish these with, with clean gloves.
12:35But that's pretty much my life at the moment and my new routine with these Invisalign aligners in.
12:44Just like that everyday taking off, whichid們 is better off soon anyway.
12:45So, that's a beautiful.
12:46That would work to be.
12:47Since that, it already has a festive creative way out.
12:48We all need to look back.
12:49For example I want to just put some light thing up to the report from 3Gb.
12:50And the show is like this area.
12:51And where 8Gb...
12:52Since the meeting is the 24th of a year that I've been coming in, I'll come back for a few days,
12:54just like while I tear down my earing in.
12:55That's really what the moment is first of the news turning.
12:56And I Reading...
