00:00If you've ever been stuck with a jar that you cannot open, like the lid feels so tightly
00:07screwed on, I've got an awesome trick that was actually taught to me by my dad, who is
00:12a chef and he worked in the Merchant Navy as a chef.
00:15So I imagine that they probably used a lot of jarred and tinned foods out at sea.
00:20So what you're going to be doing is you need a bread and butter knife and whichever jar
00:26is causing you grief that you just cannot open, this is sealed shut.
00:32And what you're going to be doing is you're going to be using the bread and butter knife
00:35and you're going to be slipping it in to the gap between the jar and the lid here.
00:40And the idea is to release some pressure and then once you've released a little bit of pressure,
00:45the lid is going to come off so easily.
00:47And this works for any lid, it does make no difference how tightly it's screwed on.
00:53Once you've let some pressure out, you'll be able to open it.
00:55So this is how you do it.
00:59So you're going to find a little spot here under the lid and you're going to be, just
01:07do be careful with the bread and butter knife.
01:12There we go.
01:13You might have heard that.
01:14It was very, very imperceptible sound, but you heard probably a little bit of a hiss there
01:21and we've broken the seal and the lid comes off.
01:24So that's how you open any lid on any jar.
01:29Like it doesn't matter how tight the lid is, once you're breaking that seal with this bread
01:35and butter knife, the lid is so easy to take off.
01:39So that's basically the trick.
01:41That's how you do it.
01:43Bread and butter knife, slip it under, you'll find a little bit here under that lid.
01:47Be very careful with the knife and then no lid is ever going to defeat you again.
01:54Just lift it a little bit and you can hear that little hiss.
02:07Oh, there we go.
02:08Bread and butter knife, slip it under, you'll find a little bit here under the lid.
02:26Bread and butter knife, slip it under, you'll find a little bit here under the lid.
