00:00For this video, I'm going to take you for a full hotel tour of the View Inn & Suites located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
00:07And holy cow, their breakfast is pretty amazing.
00:30I'm going to take you for a full hotel tour.
01:00I recently went on a road trip to Pennsylvania.
01:10And let's face it, I'm a budget traveler.
01:13I'm always trying to spend as little as possible on the hotel accommodations so I can take as many vacations as humanly possible.
01:20Now, when I'm shopping for hotels, I don't always go for the lowest rate in the area.
01:25And because you can get burned very easily staying at like some seedy motels.
01:30I try to find a nice balance, you know, spend maybe $5, $10 more per night.
01:35I have found that the user ratings on like Google and Hotels.com are fairly reliable.
01:40And as a result, I do try to stay to the hotels that are rated like at least a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.
01:47It's led to me staying at some pretty respectable hotels.
01:52The View Inn & Suites was rated pretty high in the user ratings for Hotels.com.
01:57It was about a 7 out of 10 when I made the reservation.
02:01And I can completely understand why this hotel is rated fairly highly.
02:04The rooms are pretty clean.
02:06You know, obviously the hotel architecture is a little dated.
02:10But, you know, if it's well maintained, I really don't care.
02:13I'm going to actually give this hotel an extra point for the amazing complimentary breakfast they have.
02:19I mean, I can't rave about this breakfast enough.
02:23I haven't had a free breakfast at a hotel this good in probably over a decade.
02:29They had an amazingly comprehensive breakfast buffet.
02:32You know, they had the scrambled eggs, the bacon, the sausages, bagels, danishes.
02:37They had, like, the batter for those fresh waffle makers.
02:41There was fruits and vegetables and cereal.
02:44And for me, I usually skip the breakfast that's included in most of these hotels because most of the times it's a couple stale bagels and, you know, some cornflakes.
02:54And that's about it.
02:55This was a really good breakfast.
02:57I was thoroughly impressed with what they were putting together, especially at the reasonable room rates.
03:01I mean, I spent about $70 a night.
03:04I mean, I am a platinum member on Hotels.com because I travel so much.
03:09I think the normal room rates are more like $85 a night.
03:11But even at $85, it's still really good compared to a lot of the hotels nearby.
03:16This hotel does have a lot of nice accommodations.
03:20You know, they had, like, a little convenience store by the front where you could buy snacks.
03:26There was an exercise room, and they were very proud that they had just bought all new equipment for that room.
03:33They had brand new, like, Stairmasters and exercise bikes and that kind of stuff.
03:38They just freshly renovated their meeting rooms.
03:41So they're definitely trying to get some more business travelers and maybe, you know, some organizations, you know, set up small conferences here at the hotel.
03:51They didn't have a swimming pool, but most hotels up here don't have swimming pools.
03:56You have to go to, like, a full resort in Pennsylvania to get that.
03:59So that's not really a big oversight in my opinion.
04:03Another great thing about this hotel is its location.
04:07You know, it's close to the airport.
04:08I think it's about six miles away.
04:10It's right next to the Bethlehem Pike, and you can basically just jump on that highway and get pretty much anywhere in the nearby area very quickly.
04:21They had a bunch of restaurants nearby.
04:24There was a really good pizza place, an Applebee's, and a Perkins within walking distance.
04:30And speaking of walking distance, that Perkins was maybe within 50 feet of the lobby.
04:35There's this little walkway that comes down a staircase off the lobby.
04:39All you do is just walk past the exercise room and then exit, like, the back door.
04:45And then there's a second staircase off the parking lot, and then you're basically at the Perkins.
04:49I mean, it is, like, maybe 50 feet.
04:52It's so convenient.
04:53And if you are not familiar with Perkins, they're very similar to, like, IHOP or Denny's.
04:59I mean, I love eating there.
05:00I actually ate the fish and chips while I was staying here at the hotel, and I used the app to order it.
05:07And I just walked down there and picked it up within, like, 20 minutes.
05:10It was so convenient.
05:11So there's a lot of great opportunities.
05:13And I don't think they have room for service at this hotel, but they don't need it.
05:17You know, they've got so many restaurants that are so close that it's kind of a – it would be a moot point to add something like that.
05:25And this hotel probably is thriving because there's so many nearby attractions.
05:30Like, if you're going to visit Dorney Park, which is a great little theme park, it's like a 10-minute drive from here.
05:38I also went to see the MAC Museum while I was vacationing here, and, you know, that's about a 15-minute drive from here.
05:46All that stuff is really close.
05:48So there's plenty of attractions and things to do in this area, and this is just a great hotel.
05:53So for my hotel score, I would normally score a hotel like this at about a 7 out of 10, which would be much better than average.
06:01However, I'm giving them an extra point for that amazing complimentary breakfast.
06:04So this is actually going to be earning an 8 out of 10.
06:08So that would move the view in and suites into my highly recommended category, 8 out of 10.
06:13It's just a nice hotel.
06:14You know, if you're looking for budget accommodations in the Bethlehem area, planning to go to, like, Dorney Park or something and looking for just a nice place to stay, this is definitely your hotel.
