00:00For this video, I'm going to take you for a quick tour of the Tuckerton Seaport located in Tuckerton, New Jersey.

01:00So the Tuckerton Seaport is a nice little attraction located on the Jersey Shore.
01:09It sits on about 40 acres and opened back in May 2000.
01:13This attraction consists of 17 historic and recreated buildings.
01:18All of the historic structures are connected via a boardwalk.
01:21The boardwalk does have a $5 admission fee.
01:23There's also a nature trail that explores both a maritime forest as well as the nearby wetlands.
01:29Now the 17 buildings are mostly like historic structures and museums.
01:34And they've got a lot of different things here.
01:35There's like a boathouse, a sawmill, a decoy shop.
01:40Another thing that they take a lot of pride in are the boat tours.
01:43There's a bunch of tours for the Tuckerton Creek.
01:47There's also a boat ride that takes you to Barnegat Bay.
01:50And they do have a lot of cultural arts here.
01:54For example, there's a New Jersey Folklore Center that kind of focuses on like arts and crafts that are tied into the local community.
02:03They even have special boat tours just for bird watching.
02:08Like they have a pelican tour as well as a red knot tour.
02:13So it seems pretty cool to me.
02:14I've never seen that done before where you can pick which birds you want to see.
02:19And then they will take you on like a specially customized tour.
02:22Or it will take you to the specific habitats of those birds.
02:26This attraction does remind me a little bit of historic Smithville.
02:29Only Smithville was mostly retail shops and restaurants.
02:34So this Tuckerton Seaport isn't very far away from historic Smithville.
02:38I could definitely see people visiting both historic attractions in a single day.
02:42And then following along on that New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail.
02:45The Cape Barnegat State Park is also pretty close.
02:48I think that's about a 20 minute drive.
02:50And Smithville I think is about a half hour from here.
02:53And there's also a lot of great nearby restaurants in Little Egg Harbor.
02:56Especially if you love Italian food.
02:58So let me talk about the actual buildings here at the Seaport.
03:01The very first building you're going to see when you come in the parking lot is the Visitor Center and Gift Shop.
03:06Then behind that building you're going to see the Joe Dayton Sawmill and the Perrine Boatworks buildings.
03:13As you head down towards the water you're going to see the Skinner, Donnelly, and Periwinkle Houseboats.
03:18And then if you head off to the left side you'll eventually come up to the Parsons Clam and Oyster House.
03:24And located along the boardwalk are the Jay Parker's Decoy Shop, the Crest Fishery, the Hotel de Crab, the Hunting Shanty, the Sunny Bray Salt Box, the Sea Captain's House, and the Andrews Bartlett Homestead.
03:38Another building that they have here is the New Jersey Surfing Hall of Fame.
03:41I'm actually doing a separate video just on that museum.
03:44It's a pretty big museum and they have over 300 surfboards on display and I just didn't feel like I could squeeze it all into this video.
03:52Another highlight of this attraction is they have a lot of vintage fishing boats along with a couple ships from the U.S. Coast Guard.
03:59So the Tuckerton Seaport just has a lot of different things you can do here.
04:04Whether you're a history buff, you love fishing, you love boat tours, bird watching, or going to one of the festivals or special events that they hold here.
04:14There's just so many things you can do here.
04:16I would definitely recommend visiting the website and downloading that activity guide so you can plan out your trip.
04:22So what's my bottom line for the Tuckerton Seaport?
04:25I highly recommend it.
04:27If you're coming on vacation in New Jersey and you're looking to get that authentic Jersey Shore experience,
04:32you have to visit a place like Historic Smithville or the Tuckerton Seaport.
04:36And then you also have to do like a boardwalk like Seaside Heights or Wildwood.
04:42Otherwise, you're just never going to get that authentic New Jersey vibe.
04:45Well, that pretty much sums up all my thoughts about the Tuckerton Seaport.
