00:00For this video, I'm going to take a look at the Ruth and Paul Henning Scenic Overlook located in Branson, Missouri.
01:00So let's face it, I'm a budget traveler, and sometimes when you're at the end of the vacation, you kind of run out of money.
01:12So it's not uncommon for me to look for low cost or pretty much free attractions at the end of my vacations, and that's how I kind of ended up at this one today.
01:23When I went on vacation in Branson, I was kind of broke.
01:27I was in the process of saving up to buy a new house, didn't have a lot of money to spare on this particular trip, so this was kind of like one of those hidden gems that I discovered through TripAdvisor.
01:39The other nice part is this attraction was right down the street from another attraction I planned to visit.
01:43The Henning Scenic Overlook is only about one and a half miles away from Copperhead Mountain, and if you're not familiar with Copperhead Mountain, that is a wonderful place to go for a ride on a mountain coaster, or they've also got some really nice zip lines there too.
01:58What's kind of nice about this particular attraction is TripAdvisor kind of downplayed what was here.
02:04You know, they made it sound like it was just, you know, a roadside scenic overlook, and that was about it.
02:08But there's a full-blown park here, and the nature trails are really long.
02:13Now, I believe there's two nature trails here.
02:16There's one at the upper level near the parking lot, and that's paved with asphalt, and it's very easy to walk.
02:23There's, I guess, a more challenging nature trail if you walk down past the Observation Tower and down that staircase.
02:31I believe that's what they called the Dewey Bald Trail.
02:34It's all loose soil, and, you know, you've got to walk over tree roots and all kinds of different imperfections.
02:41So, the lower trail is clearly not wheelchair accessible.
02:46I do believe the upper trail is ADA compliant, though, because, you know, the grades are very subtle, and everything is paved in asphalt.
02:55I could see somebody with a power scooter being able to go up and down the upper nature trail, but I believe the lower one is off-limits.
03:04So, needless to say, I was very impressed with this particular attraction.
03:07If you are already going to Copperhead Mountain, then I would definitely recommend adding this to your itinerary.
03:13You know, there's no admission price.
03:15There's no parking fee.
03:18And, you know, it's right near town, so it's easy to access if you're staying in, like, the heart of Branson.
03:24If you pack a lunch, you could definitely spend the entire day here exploring all the nature trails.
03:28And, you know, this is probably a great place to come if you're trying to ease up on the wallet after a visit to, like, Silver Dollar City or something.
