00:00I believe that we will recognize mr. Scott thank you thank you madam chair
00:10and I'm always sympathetic to people who are sitting at home watching the rules
00:15committee but I think if they were sitting there watching at least the
00:18first start of this especially if they were victims that they were probably
00:23pleased to see the two committee chairs working together and we're but did both
00:33of y'all get the opportunity to meet with them today both of the chair the chair and
00:38the ranking member yes both is that correct you were you did get to meet with
00:44the victims today yeah we did what I was saying before is I think it was good that
00:49if the victims especially and they're the ones that matter the most we're watching
00:52the start of this I think they would have been pleased to see the two of you
00:56working closely together and if I if I understand correctly mr. Garcia you want
01:02both to pass you won't you're in favor of this resolution but you're also in favor
01:06of the Kana Massey or Massey Kana whoever's language it is you you're
01:16supportive of both is that correct I don't know that the resolution per se is
01:20necessary but we're happy to support it moving forward but it should that should
01:24not preclude the Massey resolution with Kana to move forward fair enough and I'll
01:28tell you I mean I think the signatures will be there I'm just talking about my
01:32opinion I think the seniors is probably there on the discharge petition and then
01:38obviously if the signatures there probably it would I expect pass on the floor of
01:42the house and then you would have you would both agree with me I would hope
01:48though that it'd be in a bill it would then leave the house and go to the Senate
01:54and then in order for it to have any effect of anything it would have to be
02:01passed by the Senate and signed by the president is that correct both of you
02:06that's correct okay and so we'll see what happens next week for now madam chair
02:12I'm glad that we're we're gonna pass this resolution I think it ensures that the
02:18committee continues to work fault and push forward hopefully in a very
02:21bipartisan manner I care about the victims I don't care about I don't care who the
02:26perpetrator is I don't care if they ride an elephant or a donkey I hope they get
02:30stepped on by whichever one they're part of I mean ultimately you know I think I
02:40actually think the I don't care how we get there I think the files the aviation
02:46files the people who were flying is probably gonna expose expose a lot but I'm
02:52happy the two of you are working together I'm gonna vote for this resolution I'll
02:55make my decision on I will not be signing a discharge petition that is a
03:00that's a tool of the minority as you know and it it it's it's not something
03:04that I will do as a member of the Rules Committee I will not sign the discharge
03:07petition but I intend to support this resolution I appreciate both of you
03:11working in a bipartisan manner the victims deserve it and if I understood you
03:15Mr. Comer how many years did you say some of those victims have been going
03:18through depositions according to what they said today this dates back to 1996
03:24where they first started reporting where they were so some of these ladies have
03:30been being deposed since 1996 would not with nothing being done I don't know if
03:37it was a deposition but they've been reporting these crimes dating back to
03:421996 well listen I wish you both success in in making sure that the truth sees the
03:49light of day and as they say the truth will set you free and with that madam
03:53chair I thank you mr. new goose
