At a press briefing on Wednesday, Attorney Gloria Allred was asked if she was worried about Epstein survivors coming forward due to how the government is handling the case.
Transcript
00:00Are you worried about victims still coming forward with how the federal government is handling this now?
00:10Am I worried about it?
00:12Yeah.
00:13The question is, am I worried about other victims coming forward given how it appears to be handled right now by the government?
00:21Well, having been involved in this case for a number of years now, it's my guess that most of the victims have lawyers, not all.
00:36And so they've been getting support from their lawyers and also from therapists because therapy has been made available to them if they would like to take advantage of it, no cost to them.
00:49But this is, you know, a whole new chapter.
00:57Politics is brutal.
01:00And there are still a lot of people that don't believe victims.
01:07And so, as I said, I respect their decision if they decide to come forward or don't come forward.
01:18But they should be invited.
01:20And they should be supported and not discouraged.
01:23So, I just leave it up to them.
01:26I mean, some of them are still being very triggered by what's going on in the news.
01:31It's obviously Alicia is and has been.
01:36Because some of them have tried to move on from this emotionally and have not been successful.
01:43Because now it's there every day, streaming on the internet, discussions at home around kitchen tables.
01:52And it's tough about that.
01:57So, it's up to them if and when.
02:01I just don't want Congress to be pushing them around.
02:05We don't want them to be bullied.
02:08And we don't want them to be challenged.
02:12They've gone through a process.
02:15Many of them have spoken to law enforcement, but didn't testify for one reason or another.
02:20One reason, perhaps, was that Jeffrey allied or, you know, was the victim of homicide.
02:29I'm not here to talk about that today.
02:34So, you know, sometimes there's a lot of fear and sometimes there's just a lot of emotion.
02:41So, we'll have to see who decides to come forward.
02:49Any other questions?
02:51Okay.
02:52If not, I will just say that if you do want the details that we gave about what happened in that room.
03:00Some of it's in the police report.
03:03But, we've talked about our press conference in 2020.
03:08Just email me and I'll be happy to provide it to you.
03:10Okay.
03:12Okay.
03:13Thanks.
