00:15The Kia EV4 is the manufacturer's first fully electric model, which will be launched neither
00:20as an SUV nor as a crossover. The exterior design was unveiled on February 20th, and now the most
00:27important technical specifications are also known. The vehicle will be offered in two body styles,
00:33as a sedan with a flat rear window and as a hatchback. With a length of 4.70 meters,
00:41the sedan is 30 centimeters longer than the hatchback, which is 4.40 meters long.
00:48Visually, the front is characterized by the so-called Starmap light signature,
00:52which is implemented here as a vertical line with suggested arrow ends.
00:57In addition, there are striking shapes with contrasts between black body parts and painted surfaces.
01:03While the Kia EV3 still has bow handles, the door handles of the EV4 are flush-mounted,
01:09similar to the Kia EV6.
01:13At the rear, the sedan bears a resemblance to the concept car unveiled in 2023.
01:19Vertical lights with a downward-pointing hook, a two-part black roof spoiler, and a spoiler lip under
01:25the rear window dominate the design. The taillights of the hatchback model deviate significantly.

01:41Technically, the EV4 is based on the EGMP platform with front-wheel drive and 400 volts.
01:48The batteries are taken from the Kia EV3 and offer a storage capacity of either 58.3 or 81.4 kWh.
01:56These are presumably the gross values, while the usable capacity is around 55 or 78 kWh.
02:08Drive is provided by a 150 kW electric motor, also taken from the EV3.
02:15Information on charging capacity is not yet available, but it is likely to be similar to
02:20that of the sister model. The IPID 3.0 system enables flexible adjustment of recuperation,
02:27which also works in reverse gear. A particularly practical feature is that
02:32the selected recuperation level is retained even after the vehicle is restarted.
02:38Another highlight of the Kia EV4 is the digital car key,
02:42which can be used to unlock the vehicle using a smartphone or smartwatch.
02:45The interior is dominated by a display landscape reminiscent of the EV3 and EV6.
02:53Two screens, each with a diagonal of 12.3 inches, display the instruments and the infotainment system.
03:02A 5.3-inch display between the main screens controls the air conditioning.
03:08Physical toggle switches are also available for temperature control.
03:12A head-up display is also available. The asymmetrical steering wheel detects the driver's hands capacitively,
03:21so a touch is enough to activate the hands-on function.
03:27Assistance systems include lane-changing support, while integrated streaming services such as YouTube
03:32and Netflix, as well as voice control with artificial intelligence, provide entertainment.
03:37The center console is similar to that of the EV3, and little information about the trunk is available so far.
03:46What is known is that the hatchback model offers a capacity of 435 liters,
03:51while the sedan has slightly more space at 490 liters.
03:56Surprisingly, the hatchback model offers less volume than the Kia EV3, whose trunk has a capacity of 460 liters.
04:04The Kia EV4 is produced in two plants.
04:09The sedan is built in the South Korean Autoland Gwang, the group's first dedicated electric car plant.
04:16The hatchback model, however, will be built in Europe, more specifically at the Kia plant in Zylina, Slovakia.
04:23Production of the sedan will begin in mid-March, while the hatchback model will not be manufactured
04:28until the second half of the year. Production is also planned in North America.
04:33Prices for the EV4 have not yet been announced.
