00:00What kind of coach do the Giants need to stop this coaching carousel
00:03that we've seen over the last decade plus?
00:07See, here's the thing.
00:07People want to say, well, get an experienced coach.
00:09Get an experienced coach.
00:10Guess what?
00:11When Bill Parcells was hired, that was his first head coaching job
00:13in the NFL.
00:14That's a good point.
00:15Everybody who's been hired was hired for the first time.
00:18Sometimes that's Tom Landry, and you wind up coaching for 35 years,
00:22and sometimes it's Joe Judge, and you wind up coaching competently
00:27for maybe three games.
00:27If there was one guy I could say hire, I mean, yeah, I'd love to say that,
00:32but I'm not that smart because I don't think a lot of people are that smart.
00:36Sometimes you've got to get lucky and hire the right guy.
00:39Who thought Bill Belichick was the right guy after his turn year in Cleveland
00:42and his first year in New England?
00:44Nobody did.
00:45You know, I know one of the hot names now is Lane Kiffin.
00:47I love Lane Kiffin.
00:48I think he's a terrific coach.
00:50I think he belongs – he needs to stay in Ole Miss because he's got a kingdom there,
00:53and that includes all the other great, you know, big-time programs
00:58that are going to be begging for him to come over the next couple of weeks
01:01in addition to whatever pro offers you might have.
01:03But, you know, let's not forget, Lane Kiffin didn't exactly set the world on fire
01:07his first time in the NFL either.
01:09That was a long time ago.
01:10But you never have any – you just never have any guarantees.
01:13I know people want to say, don't hire a coordinator this time.
01:15Who knows?
01:16Maybe you're going to hire a great coordinator.
01:18You know, Andy Reid was a coordinator once.
01:21That's true.
01:21He worked out okay.
