00:00Hello and welcome to this New South Wales James weather update for Monday.
00:04We have got some speckled cloud that is down in through here, so I'll just zoom in on that one.
00:08A large area of speckled cloud means a large area of cold air.
00:12We've also got the weather system that moves through, that's now over in New Zealand.
00:16We've got fairly clear skies in through here, but there is a cool air mass that has resulted behind the backside of that one.
00:23So this is what we're looking at today.
00:25Let's look day by day.
00:26Here is Monday. Here's that cold air, the blue lines there and some purple in there as well that is ready to come up.
00:32So that's our next one.
00:33We do have stream showers that are in northeast parts of New South Wales, mainly coastal, just into the ranges.
00:38But otherwise, that's all we're looking at during the day today.
00:41Having a look at Tuesday, here's that cold air burst that is moving across the southeast of the country.
00:46We're going to feel that in terms of a little bit of wet weather if you're in the southeast and parts of New South Wales,
00:51but the rest of it is cold and dry and we'll get the frost that goes with that as well.
00:55So watch out for that as we go into Wednesday morning.
00:58So that moves through on Tuesday.
01:00So by Wednesday, here is the next high pressure system.
01:03Calm winds, clear skies, frost in the morning, and then it starts to warm back up once again.
01:09So cold and dry to have our midweek.
01:12Heading into Thursday, here's the next formation of our wet weather.
01:16Back to the west and also into the north.
01:18Let's watch that come down as we end the week.
01:20So we'll see some cloud building from that one.
01:21But otherwise, it's looking fairly dry.
01:24On Friday, that's when that next one comes through.
01:26So there's a trough here.
01:27There's potentially a low pressure system.
01:30We'll get this wrapping around into that one there.
01:32So showers and thunderstorms out ahead of that, tending to areas of widespread rain as well.
01:37And then on the backside of that low, as we move into Saturday, there isn't much for the southern parts of New South Wales there.
01:43All of that out ahead of that system.
01:45But it is mainly in the northeastern parts of New South Wales.
01:47So there's Saturday into Sunday, it's confined to the northeast, a little bit in the south, and into next Monday, it's fairly in the north as well.
01:56All right.
01:56Now, what might all of that add up to?
01:58As you guessed, it is that northeast corner.
01:59We get most of it, 50 to 75, 25 to 50.
02:03If you're under a storm, it will be heavier.
02:05In the south, it doesn't really cross the border in through here, one to five millimeters at best.
02:09But there is that bit of activity in the southeast.
02:12It's more about the cold and dry air that comes up from time to time in through there.
02:15So let's go on Sydney's roller coaster of a week.
02:18Now, in terms of wet weather, hardly anything at all.
02:21We've got a fair bit of sunshine during the week.
02:23But temperatures, we're cool today.
02:25It warms up again tomorrow.
02:26There's our cold air on Wednesday and the chilly start.
02:29It comes with it.
02:30If you're inland, particularly in the south, that is a frosty start.
02:34Heading to Thursday, temperatures recover again.
02:35And then on Friday, it goes down.
02:37So down, up, down, up, down.
02:40Across the weekend, that's when most of the wet weather is likely.
02:43But here, we're kind of in the middle.
02:44Most of the activity is in northeastern parts of the state.
02:47There may be something that reduces a heavy fall here, but it'll be very isolated.
02:51As always, head to Firemore Line Weather for the latest.
