00:00two names became synonymous with speed innovation and winning
00:08socks and martin after consistently losing races to his future business partner buddy martin teamed
00:16up with ronnie socks in the late 1960s to create one of drag racing's most legendary partnerships
00:23while martin handled the business side socks worked his magic on the track and with the
00:29assistance of mechanical genius jake king the team transformed muscle cars into quarter-mile monsters
00:37building on the new chrysler e-body platform socks and martin modified a 1970 plymouth
00:46hemicuda to lower the weight and deliver more air to the engine with its distinctive red white and
00:53blue livery and socks and martin emblazoned across the sides this machine became an icon
01:00although a little rough out of the gate losing to bill jenkins's 1968 427 camaro at the 1970
01:09nhra winter nationals and the gator nationals the team rallied and put in the effort to fine-tune
01:17their machine during the course of the 1970 nhra and ahra season their efforts proved fruitful with a
01:25victory at the 1970 nhra pro stock world championship helping establish a legacy that still endures today
01:36this hemicuda didn't just win races it won hearts becoming one of the most recognizable and beloved
01:44machines in drag racing history a legend ronnie socks socks and martin powered by king's mechanical genius
01:54proved that with skill dedication and a little plymouth muscle racing legends are born
02:14if you didn't have mark orman you'd have to invent him how did i get here
02:28and the skies are not cloudy all day
02:33i have no idea why my dad is crazy
02:42it's not easy being the number one mayor
02:44mark hates everybody he always has
02:50they're coming to get you barbara
03:16we have got a super cool very very rare car that's been here way too long ready to be finished it's
03:25that close to it this is our 1970 plymouth hemi cuda remember folks hemi cuda was a model on its own
03:34whereas a cuda 446 barrel cuda 383 they were models too a hemi cuda was also its own model now because this
03:41car was alpine white with a blue painted roof there was some speculation especially by the owner because
03:47he didn't know if it could this be a st louis blues cars because that was a promotional color package
03:52they came up with for the cuda called st louis blues or more importantly could it be a socks and
03:56martin promo car that was the the legend that came with it now years ago before we got started on
04:02it i had tony d'agostino out mr negativity himself who hates everything he's just born and raised to hate
04:07that's the way he is i didn't think they need wipers in a race car so i know though that if he
04:13gives it the blessing that it's a real socks and martin car or a st louis car then it probably is
04:18we validated that car from the very back bumper all the way to the front bumper before it got
04:24disassembled before it got restored tony d'agostino started out negative obviously the the shaker
04:31bubbles missing and underneath that the hemi's missing he continued to be negative why don't i
04:38get ronnie socks out here to look at the car he passed away about 10 years ago but when it was all
04:44over he was still negative i don't see any indication there's no evidence it was ever a race car
04:50i will say that even though tony was negative all the way through the process he was right we took a lot
04:55of time looking that car over and dispelling certain myths that we know would not be on this
05:03car if it was a real st louis blues cars or if it was a real socks and martin car one of many things
05:08was the fact that socks and martin or st louis blues would not have had the black body panel on it this
05:13one clearly was a black body panel which is factory for your kuda cars that was just one of many things
05:19also the fact that it's an automatic and and socks and martin were known as the four-speed guys none of
05:24that added up so at the end of the day we know we have a real 70 hemi kuda automatic ew1 painted
05:32blue roof still the only one in the world that i've ever seen like it
05:40after mark and tony came to the decision on the kuda it was finally my turn to take over
05:44after the car came back from the dipper the whole thing was a complete mess remember everybody this
05:48was an east coast car so it had a ton of rust we had to replace one front frame
05:53rail both inner fenders a firewall section main floors and step wells the under seat pan trunk
06:00floor quarter panels and the dutchman in addition to that any metal that was left on the car we had
06:05to do small patches it took shane about nine months to finish everything on the metal and for me to pass
06:11inspection once that was done i was able to kick it out to michael who's my main guy in the mud room
06:16michael is truly the best mud guy we've ever had here he's been here for a number of years now
06:21and in years past we have to prime and block a car two to three times to get it perfect with michael
06:26it's a one and done deal and we're good to go so once i got the car it was time to jump in on it and
06:31start the paint work and i'd like to say my job is like super easy which it is until mark jumps in on
06:37it what's one of the things he does when he gets rid of the paint before he paints it what's one of the
06:40key things to do is there to remove sainese well he waxes and greases i want you to say i will always
06:45remove sainese so in this case he jumps in and starts messing with count chocula who's my helper
06:51and he's a really good helper but mark jumps in on his foolishness and starts talking about finies
06:55and that's not even a word once all that foolishness was done count was able to get back on the car
07:01jam it out and he did a great job you remember when i was trying to paint the roof went blue car goes
07:07white everything is going great and then here comes mark you mind if i just double check the molding
07:12real quick behind this inside the car but we're about ready to paint okay what's that over there
07:19despite mark's best efforts i was able to get the roof painted and it came out beautiful
07:37so after the roof was painted it was time to move on to the body of the car and at that point
07:42right on cue yeah what i don't understand is why you wouldn't have gone exactly on the blue line
07:47like we talked about because you made a nice blue line right you why wasn't it fine lined out now you
07:52see i've had to cover this up yeah because you're doing it wrong oh it's wrong to go on the exact two
07:59tone line because you said to me yeah so why did you put the two-tone line where you put it then so at
08:04this point we're going to go ahead mark's going to go back to the office we're going to wipe the whole car
08:10down i'll take the fine line run it around the blue line and then start painting
08:18after all the silliness i did get the car painted the ew1 alpine white so i painted the car with the
08:24dcc concept line which is a single stage you've seen us use it over and over again on all sorts of
08:28colors car came out beautiful as always and it's time to move on once all the paint work was done i was
08:34able to give the car to shane to do a final assembly on it then i gave it to count chocula to do the cut
08:38and buff on it then we put it in the booth i undercoated it then moved it over to brian and
08:42assembly
08:47after the break the engine for the hemi cuda came to us completely built out i didn't have to
08:52assemble anything now we have a rolling car that we can do the final assembly on he's having us help
08:59install an exhaust system it's very tricky and it's easy to make a mistake so this only becomes a problem
09:05when mark shows up my god where's a half inch impact somebody has borrowed it and not returned it
09:24okay so the engine for the hemi cuda came to us completely built out i didn't have to assemble
09:29anything so really all i had to do was dress it out properly what that means is installing the correct
09:34carburetors plug wires fan belts and all the other assorted items that make the engine a correct build
09:42for the car normally when i put the engine on the run stand and hook up all the fuel hoses and cables
09:47and all this sort of thing that's really easy so this only becomes a problem when mark shows up
09:53it means like fuel don't they yes they do
10:03nice look at that oh i don't like that let's try it again pretty good initial startup though pretty good
10:23nice nice yeah so once i get the engine running and dialed in the way i want it then it's time to
10:33build out the front suspension the rear end and the rest of the drivetrain so it'll be ready for install
10:41when will was finished with the car had all the paint work done it came over to the assembly shop
10:45that's where i get back involved brian does all the assembly for the most part but i have to order
10:50parts i have to kind of be back involved i wanted to make sure that i took a little bit of time with
10:55brian with doug to teach him about the sales codes on these rear axles because it's very tricky and it's
11:00easy to make a mistake so even though we played that before for you guys there is some interesting
11:04information here that i'd like to share just one more time so on an automatic transmission car it's a32
11:10the code for a super track back on an automatic is a32 even though this looks identical
11:16to an a34 car setup no difference at all in them except that when it's a32 it tells the assembly line
11:23it's going into an automatic car when it's a34 it's going into a four speed okay now what exactly is
11:28super track pack with super track pack you'll automatically get 10 inch rear drums okay which
11:35we have right there you'll also get mandatory power front disc brakes okay whereas if it was an a33
11:42car say it was a just a track pack four speed car you could get 11 inch drums manual even all the way
11:48around so the super track pack is the axle package to have it's going to give you the 410 dana it's
11:53going to give you power disc brakes max cooling all of the hemi suspensions have the heavier bars on
11:57them torsion bars so the 780 and the 781 also on a dana there are always three bolt pinion snubbers
12:03okay and you can't mistake a dana because of the 10 bolt rear cover right all right so we're ready to put
12:08this in i think so all right let's take some nuts off and get this thing rolled around again the
12:16process for reassembling the drivetrain in these cars is that rear axle goes in first that gives us
12:22the counterweight at the back of the car if we put the front suspension with the engine and the
12:27transmission on it it would be front heavy and it could and we've had them do it before we learned
12:31this would tip forward and fall forward off of the hoist so we always put the rear axle assemblies in
12:36first once we've done that we move to the front like i mentioned a second ago you've got a k-member
12:42with all the suspension you've got that great big 426 hemi elephant engine you're gonna stuff into a
12:47little e-body but everybody worked very well together on this it went right into place we did not scratch
12:54anything this is a manual steering car so we didn't have to compete with the power steering gear which
12:59oftentimes gets in the way of these everything went together the way it's supposed to all we used were
13:05regional kuda mopar parts on the assembly of the drivetrain so at the end of the day we know we
13:11have a very authentic completely rolling 1970 hemi kuda doug and i and brian worked hard to put the
13:18rear axle assembly in it it went in smoothly that's because we have those components built out ahead of
13:23time same thing at the front once you have that rear axle and you can move to the front suspension which
13:27is your k-member and your me and your automatic very tight fit you have to be very careful very patient
13:34but they went in without scratching anything we made the final connections on it came out very
13:39good then we were able to put wheels and tires on it and now we have a rolling car that we can do the
13:45final assembly on as the car flew through the shop dylan really got a lot of great experience he's been
13:57here now a couple years that's will son i just want to give him a shout out because he's doing a fantastic
14:01job of learning what the process is what order in which these cars get put together and how important
14:08it is to make sure that certain things are done before you jump onto another part in this case he
14:12helped marty put in the headliner which is fantastic experience there are very few young new and upcoming
14:19technicians in the upholstery field
14:24dylan bryan did a great job of putting the dash the door trim panels the rest of the interior of the
14:28console the heater the electronics in it
14:47when that was done it was time to put the very unique 426 hemi dual exhaust system on
14:53i have four windshield wiper motors here sitting in front of me one of them may be right for your
15:01car you want to know how to find out stay tuned and after the break i'll tell you
15:13i've been selling parts since 1979 and while you can look up some information about them online you're
15:27not going to find everything that's why i'm here i'm tony d'agostino from tony's mopar parts in harrington
15:33delaware welcome to tony's tech tips on my left i have two two speed wiper motors on my right i have
15:53two three speed wiper motors also known as variable so let's look at this first motor the information
15:58you're looking for is going to be on the canister of the wiper motor the first line of digits is the
16:03part number in this case it's 2889 982 and that fits a 1968 b body only the b bodies charger carnet
16:12roadrunner gtx etc the second row of numbers are a vendor code we're not worried about that the last
16:19line is what's important that's the date code that this was assembled in this case 0508 which is the 50th
16:26day of 1968 so if your 68 b body was made after that date this might be the right wiper motor for
16:33your car now let's take a look at the other wiper motor again this is a three-speed variable type wiper
16:39motor and the first row of numbers is going to be the part number for it these numbers are 34 31077
16:46this fits 70 71 e-body cars your cootas and challengers and 71 b-body cars your charger roadrunner
16:54carnet again we're not concerned with the second row of numbers that's just a vendor code what is
16:59important is the last line i'm going to tell you the assembly date the date code on this motor is 2799
17:07which means it was assembled on the 279th day of 1969 which is perfect for an early build 1970 car
17:15so now let's take a look at some two-speed wiper motors these were standard on cars the three-speed
17:20variable was the optional or upgraded wiper motor let's take a look at this wiper motor this one's
17:24already been restored the information we're looking for in this case is not on the canister but on a
17:30tag that's screwed onto the wiper motor the first thing we're going to look at is the seven digit part
17:35number which tells you your application in this case 34 31 5 33 which means this wiper motor fits
17:45all 72 b bodies e bodies and also c bodies believe it or not so this was a pretty universally used
17:51wiper motor let's see when this one was made again it's four digits this this tag does not have a vendor
17:58code on it so this made it easier for us you just have the part number and the date code let's look
18:03at the date code 2071 the 2071 means it was built on the 207th day of 1971 which is perfect for an early
18:12build 1972 b body e body or c body car even let's take a look at our last wiper motor again it's a two
18:20speed so as we learned on the first one the number is going to be on the tag in this case the seven
18:26digit number is 34 31 606 which means that it fits a 72 and 73 b body e body or c body car making this
18:38wiper motor more universal than this one year only wiper motor next thing we're going to look for is
18:43the date code let's see what we have 1712 so the 171st day of 1972 so this would be good for a very
18:52late 72 build car or a very early built 73 car so that's how you make sure your wiper motor is the
19:00correct one for your car with the correct date code thanks for watching this episode of tony's tech tips
19:17when graveyard cars returns he's having us help install an exhaust system i haven't actually been
19:22a part of the exhaust system before when i find out who did that i have every intention of cutting
19:27their face off with a rusty razor blade my dad warned me that mark would give me some outlandish
19:34threats to get a point across he's getting a little bit older he's having a hard time with this exhaust
19:39it's a little bit tense trying to get it put together oh sweet all right but i think we're gonna do it
19:47so one of the cars my dad wants me to work on along with dylan is our 1970 hemi kuda he's having us help
19:53install an exhaust system which is pretty cool because i've never actually done that i've done
19:58a lot of drive trains and you know engines and all that but i haven't actually been a part of the
20:03exhaust system before the most important thing that your teacher has not taught you is the preservation
20:11and the cherishment of tools i've taught you but you don't care today we're going to install you don't
20:17care either oh i can mark care this only looks like this because this is always how my toolbox go
20:21roll open my toolbox it looks exactly like this right now so i've been prepping a lot of these
20:25parts getting them cleaned up and ready for them to be installed in the car it is nice because now
20:29i'm actually getting the chance to get everything put in and installed and i'm also working with alyssa
20:34who i've i've known my whole life i've known mark my whole life and it's kind of just a nice moment
20:38for me to be able to work with them and they get to see my work and i get to see how they work
20:43when something like that is missing it's that three-eighths extension three inch long well you
20:49know somebody has borrowed it and not returned it so when i find out who did that i have every
20:57intention of cutting their face off with a rusty razor blade wearing it into a bank robbing the bank
21:04killing somebody and then coming back to work okay okay so when i first started my dad wore me right
21:11off the rip that mark would give me some just outlandish insults or threats to get a point
21:17across i never really understood that until today you know a huge point and i don't mind making it
21:23over and over in whatever fashion i have to tools are your ability to get something done lose them drop
21:29them forget where you put them leave them dirty so they're greasy and they slip out of your hands all
21:34those things are the sign of poor workmanship you cherish those tools they should look exactly the same
21:40when you're done working with them as the day you bought them i believe and i hope i got my message
21:45across and i apologize for any uh unsavory threats i may have made okay we have all of our sockets we
21:52have everything we have pry bars if you guys are ready we can go into there and get started okay all right
22:00all right so the most important thing when putting the h pipe on is the nipple right at the top of the
22:06right hand pipe that's the heat riser tube the bolts in the back of the engine the top the problem is
22:13theoretically you should put the exhaust on and then set that down on there but you'd never get
22:18to the back of it they're a pain in the butt so what we end up having to do is take this tube once
22:22we get things in place and then manipulate it out of the way so you can walk it in so while you guys
22:27are walking the h pipe in i'll be able to move that and what makes the exhaust system so unique on
22:33the 426 semi versus a lot of the other systems is it does use an h pipe in it which is a crossover
22:38pipe and they call it an h pipe i think because if you stand the system up against the wall or look
22:43straight down on it it makes it the letter h so that means you can't pull the head pipes away from
22:48each other they have to fit exactly on those exhaust manifolds while doing that there is a heat
22:55riser tube that goes up to the back of the intake manifold you can't put that heat riser tube
23:00on with the engine in the car it has to go on before the engine goes in the car so it's just
23:04hanging there dangling waiting for the female end of it to go up onto that pipe and so you're guiding
23:11up the heat riser pipe and the two head pipes all at the same time that's what i mean by tricky and
23:17it's great experience for these two youngsters okay so you're coming in with that our goal is to get
23:23here with the system you got to go around the torsion bar so one side will have to go in first
23:30i'm in okay okay then this side has to go around it there you're over the top of the torch bar okay
23:40all right now it's getting it around this piece right here this clamp sliding down so we're going to
23:45push that up out of the way okay i'm gonna have to move that pipe a little bit with a pry bar which is
23:50what i sort of thought okay let's see it's a little tricky a little trickery that wants to slide too
24:01that's okay okay now i'm trying to go up i got it you get it yep okay let's give this a shot to go up
24:12okay i got it right there let's put the bolts in it then we'll go to the resonators
24:17here's the resonator there is no direction for these i like to put the date down just because
24:26it looks kind of cool and you've got your clamp which can go really back on this thing right now
24:38oh i see that was being stubborn for some reason we do have a rubber mallet or should have a rubber
24:44mallet so i've been out of the shop for a few years now and one thing i'm noticing working with my dad
24:50is he's getting a little bit older he's having a hard time with this exhaust it's fighting us the
24:54whole way but i don't know if it's the exhaust system or if it's my dad just doesn't have that
24:58physical stamina anymore it's a little bit tense trying to get it put together but i think we're
25:02going to do it stamina are you kidding have you not seen me around the shop if i'm not lifting a
25:08transmission i'm i'm i'm arm curling a rear end i'm dropping down doing push-ups i compete with
25:14these guys a third of my age i got all the stamina in the world this is something you do to try to
25:20bring somebody down that's one of elissa's character faults is that she will put somebody else down and
25:25make herself feel better you don't see me doing that there you go there you go it looks like it's
25:32moving now yeah you got to get over something there you go there frustrating but yes okay and
25:40kind of keep it level you want to make sure it's sort of level if you can you always go back through
25:46later and make it better but okay so with that we're just going to put on our other res onator so
25:56we need that one to go on just like this one went on okay so give him a hand there you guys got to
26:01learn about this stuff okay oh my do you want me to hold that just gonna see if he uh wanted to
26:12put that on there first or not he's got this oh yeah he's doing good he's doing fine yeah it looks
26:20like it's going to be stubborn i think dougie tightened the clamps down when we first put this on
26:24you know we mocked it up to make sure everything had fit and i said don't tighten it down because once
26:29you do right it shrinks that metal and you're screwed and he did anyway and said wah why am i getting
26:37drug into this and why would i say whoa whoa is not a word i might say what or why but i would not say whoa
26:57all right all right i'm going to expand that a little bit can you get that back off any chance
27:03in the world yeah so what happens is it's crushed down right there that's why it won't go in so i've
27:10got to take this go ahead and hold on to that we're going to take this put this into the pipe and when
27:16it's inside the pipe we're going to run this bolt down and when this bolt gets ran down watch how these
27:23veins open up see how they're getting wider yeah okay it's going to expand that part of the pipe okay
27:42and that pipe is tight so i'm going to get a bigger gun i'll be right back it looks like it helped
27:55it didn't hurt but it didn't get it where i wanted it oh god where's a half inch impact whoa
28:04thank you dougie for tightening down the clamps on that and making our our filming really go bad
28:09so it seems like the install is going pretty good mark did point out that dougie may have tightened
28:14the clamps a little bit too hard on the resonator and left a little bit of an indent on them making
28:18it a little bit harder for it to slide on but other than that it's going pretty smooth see how those
28:24walked right out of there now you guys see that that that crease is gone so we're gonna back this off
28:32now and let's try to put that pipe back on there again it did take a while because we had mocked the
28:38exhaust on and they got slightly over tightened earlier and all that does is it crushes down
28:43the pipe and even though it's just a little bit that's what was taking so long for us to get the
28:47mufflers resonators over axle pipes and all that in place we had to expand them back out again but
28:52once we did that we were able to put the system into place upside down oh sweet all right you told us
29:00there's no right or wrong look at that look at that that's what happens when the tray comes to town
29:11it's okay that it's all cockeyed not straight like dylan's look how nice dylan's looks well yeah but the
29:16problem is this will catch weeds and stuff so you want to turn it up on the side if you can
29:20see why are you why are you driving these what are you four wheeling them no but if you drive them
29:26if you drive them anywhere i mean what if it was a cat and the cat made it all the way through to that
29:31muffler well you know about that you kill cats so
29:34okay everybody in the wholesale block we got resonators on resonator hangers is that true
29:52why are you guys standing out there like a jehovah's witness in the hallway
29:56my bad it's all happy time in here i'm a happy mama yeah yeah you're good vibes oh yeah i'm a real
30:02positive real positive okay so we know this clamp doesn't need to go here because sort of got a
30:08clamp there so this will be at the back for the muffler for the muffler that's right i'll just have
30:14you hold that little bad boy right there so far it's looking okay okay i'm liking that i'm liking that
30:22okay so if you'll notice something on this you guys see how this tailpipe is hugging the fuel tank here
30:30that means that the inlet for the muffler would have to be offset so that's going to allow this
30:36to go up into place like that and have the right offset and still clear everything so let's put that
30:43on if you want to leave everything loose from front to back leave it loose till everything is in place
30:49look at your alignment of your tips look at your alignment of your over axle pipe make sure it's not
30:53hitting anything resonators need to be laying flat mufflers need to be exactly where they're located
30:57not touching anything and then you can tighten it from this front all the way to the back of the car
31:04we are finished up for today we got down to the mufflers it's gone great other than my dad kind
31:08of running out of some steam but um this is as far as we can go today because we have the tips but we
31:13don't have the rest of the parts to put on so it's pretty cool to work with dylan it feels like a full
31:18circle moment i was around and babysat him and brody when they were little so now that we're all here
31:22working at the shop it's just really cool i had a blast learning a lot and being able to do a lot
31:27and see from my own eyes it is nice because now the rest of the build should go pretty smooth we
31:32still have a little bit of extra pieces i need to go on such as the exhaust tips the valance the bumper
31:38once that goes on we should be ready to fire the car up in no time
31:55still to come all right we're going to go on a test drive in our 1970 hemi cuda we believe this may be
32:03the only white with a blue painted top v02 in existence as a kid i never imagined that i'd be
32:09working on them and driving them and putting my name on them i am totally excited to take this car
32:15out put it through the paces and see what it feels like to drive a real 1970 hemi cuda
32:33after we finished the exhaust it was literally just a few little items had to go back on the
32:37car and it's ready for a test drive but before we do very important to appreciate when you see
32:42something in its current stage oh it's beautiful i want to take a minute and look at our final glamour
32:48shots we call it of the car set in there in the in the shop look at the original pictures of the car
32:55the video of the car before we ever started working on it rusty floors
33:03rusty quarters
33:06rusty rear body panel
33:10main floors
33:14under seat pants
33:18frame rails look at all of those things then you can appreciate what goes into building a car like
33:25this and why oftentimes it takes us much longer than we anticipated
33:29all right we're going to go on a test drive in our 1970 hemi cuda you're in the world of rare ultra
33:37rare now add that it's a white car with a blue top you just stuck yourself down into the only one
33:44known around now there may be one but i have not seen it anywhere on the planet the owner hasn't seen
33:50it or heard of it we believe this may be the only white with a blue painted top b02 in existence i grew
33:58up you know on the streets of 14th street and my sister's girlfriend paula her boyfriend at the time
34:03did have a hemi cuda 70 hemi cuda b5 blue that was the only one i knew of around town so as a kid i
34:09never imagined that i'd be working on him and driving him and and putting my name on him like
34:15this so it's a it's a wonderful moment to sit there in the car like this and just realize kind
34:19of where i've come and that we've earned it as a team we've all earned this but you know there's only
34:24one el jefe so with that said i am totally excited to take this car out put it through the paces and see
34:31what it feels like to drive a real 1970 hemi cuda might have to warm up a second
34:44boy that sounds great listen to that
34:49the owner wanted to keep this car very original so it did not get a hockey stick stripe that was
34:55deleted from the car this one doesn't have it either but the car is nice it's got a rally
35:00instrument cluster which was optional rim blow steering wheel and i believe
35:07a six-way seat almost forgot that those are nice options on a car and of course all
35:13hemi cars got a shaker hood on it i say let's get ready to roll
35:19normally when we take these cars out for a road test i will kind of what we call in the business
35:23facing the fourth wall here is i will power it with a lit so this is my lit interview all the nice
35:28pretty lights you see everywhere and i would say oh it was great when you went over the bumps that
35:32didn't do anything when you turn left it was this i'm just going to shut up which is hard for me to do
35:36and let you enjoy being on an official road test first time on the road in 35 years for this car and
35:44the first time in my life all right boy this is a manual steering car and i'll tell you manual steering
35:51cars are hard to turn unless you're moving you're moving they're not bad
35:59dash lights check got them i've already done a systems check inside so i'm just making sure
36:05i can see the dash lights out here left turn it is working the indicator on the dash is working and
36:12the one on the fender it is an l31 car folks it did get turn signal indicators
36:17right hand turn signal indicator right hand indicator on the dash working we have fantastic
36:25oil pressure systems charging great we're still very very cold temperature has not warmed up there
36:31the clock we had it digitized so we took out the original analog type movement and we put it not
36:38digitized uh whatever it is where it it just sweeps constantly it doesn't tick i'm not very smart
36:45with that kind of stuff okay console beautiful shifter great radio
36:53now this has a rear fader there's the rear front rear mix okay we're going to pull out on the road
37:14i think she's just about warmed up now here we go
37:23oh boy that's responsive right off the get go there's a second gear shift manually i like to make
37:34sure it manually shifts so i can hold it in second gear all day long that feels nice it was a good solid
37:40shift we put a mild shift kit in these cars just a very mild shift kit so it's a solid shift and it
37:51prolongs the life of the transmission the less time those clutches spend trying to engage
37:56and cooking them the longer the transmission will last
38:06i shift gonna go into drive
38:10i think i'm gonna go into drive oh it's that is drive
38:15all right doing about 45 miles an hour right now listen to that listen for a rattle
38:26no rattles
38:32look at that shaker moving
38:36oh yeah hey this is a good driving car this is a good driving car
38:46this is cool when duggy and i were kids my sister's best friend paula called up one day
38:54and said hey you guys i'm going with a guy named rim rim like a wheel rim last name's beer he's got a
39:01hemi kuda no he doesn't yeah he does so we hopped on our bikes and rode over to paula's house
39:09and as soon as we went around the corner there it was bigger than life great big cuda badge on the
39:14back end of it it was b5 blue it was a four-speed car big beautiful emblems on the hood that said
39:20hemi kuda i mean we were so in in love the guy had a for sale sign in the back seat he wanted
39:28twenty six hundred dollars for the car because he had just spent six hundred dollars having the valves done in
39:33it this is like 1978 or something can you imagine that back then it would have been a numbers matching
39:41b5 blue black interior four-speed hemi kuda
39:46maybe half a million plus today isn't that something
39:51this has got a nice idle to it nice cam now this is i'm going to show you what i mean by non-responsive
40:02manual steering
40:07that car didn't move is what it is it's on bias ply tires and it's an old integral system that's manual and
40:18it's not working ashtray
40:27ashtray check
40:31oh hey i got a problem here folks i got no cigarette lighter
40:36it is not working if i push it in it pops right back out
40:40it's a simple enough thing this a01 light group car so it does have an ashtray light you can see
40:46right there which is super cool glove box light has a delayed timer on the headlights all kinds of cool
40:52stuff
40:59listen to that
41:03boy that sounds good
41:04we're getting ready to go over railroad tracks
41:17not a rattle in sight absolutely fantastic
41:27an initial voyage on something like this when it turns out that you don't have to go back and fix
41:32anything except a cigarette lighter that's not working that is a score that is a win that is the
41:37way it's supposed to be fantastic job everybody fantastic job i could not be prouder of my team
41:44and what a beautiful car what a beautiful car to send home i know the owner's super excited he's
41:49given us a ton of time we're over on all of our cars like i've said for years
41:54but when you have an owner that's willing to wait the time and support you and not put you down and
42:00try to make you feel bad it really makes you want to just do that much better
42:07i want you to hear that cam
42:16listen to that
42:18i'm gonna put it in gear
42:24that's the sound of music
42:25well you guys were there the car ran and drove great no squeaks no leaks no rattles everything
42:31went well so loading up the car now in the truck it's heading east about 3 000 miles and it's going
42:37to new jersey it's saying farewell to an old friend that's been here for a long long time but
