Mexico's representative at the COP30 summit unveiled the country's enhanced climate commitment (NDC 3.0), pledging to reduce carbon emissions by more than 50% through absolute reduction targets. The plan includes transitioning to clean energy across transportation, industry and agriculture while protecting biodiversity through initiatives like the 5.7 million-hectare Maya Forest conservation project. The delegate emphasized that Latin America, responsible for only 11% of global emissions but highly vulnerable to climate impacts, requires urgent international cooperation and financing. Mexico framed climate action as both a national security priority and moral responsibility, calling for collective courage to preserve the 1.5°C goal.
