00:08lounge with mr. zach top zach how are you tonight i'm wonderful so um i'm okay they took all my

00:16money already oh yeah am i not really okay am i allowed to put a tip bucket out on the front

00:22of the stage during the show like the old school days yeah i could use it you you absolutely are

00:27buddy okay uh well you know one way to make some money is uh making kicks with mcafee every saturday

00:32okay my question to you is how many takes did it take for you to kick that 30 yarder was it take

00:37number one or how many do we have it was not taking number one okay but you're not supposed to bring

00:42that up i'm just wondering yeah that's how the internet works dude everybody just sees it and

00:48they assume that was i'm just a great field goal kicker now i took a few takes it wasn't terrible

00:52i think that was my fourth okay that's really great you can play for the dolphins yeah you really

00:57could you really could sorry yeah um yeah no it was uh you know we did that last year too we played

01:06with uh lenny wilson we were opening up first to three for her in missoula on the same uh same outfit

01:13yeah and we went and played football and i swear we went out there we ran routes we kicked field goals

01:18we did everything for three hours and it took me about five days to recover from that i'm so old

01:25and out of shape it is uh it's a tough thing to come to uh grips with and uh anyway i did make

01:32the field goal and pat mcafee follows me now so we'll see if i end up on the show and he commented

01:37what a kick yeah he did did you not know that no i don't i don't have any of my socials okay he did

01:43already and he said what a kick yeah so yeah so obviously you got his attention uh what i want

01:49to know is though i know you played football in high school and college you didn't never did you

01:54never played football i was a baseball player and a basketball player oh okay i was gonna say were

01:59you a kicker or no i've never played a competitive snap of football in my life okay so not bad for

02:05four takes that's all right right that's really good come on never played soccer either i mean

02:11again the tryouts tomorrow you can play on sunday stay on sunday man we i love it we could use a walk

02:16on yeah we could we could really use you so uh of course obviously you're you're no stranger to

02:22everybody now finding out everything about zach top that they possibly can and they found the

02:28north country tapes uh oh yeah when you were when you were growing up playing with playing with i'm

02:33guessing just some buddies they've now found those songs as well how does it feel to number one

02:38not have any privacy anymore in your own life uh but also number two to have those songs come out

02:43when you also have chart toppers now taking over everywhere um that's cool i don't you know i'm not

02:49i'm not ashamed of that record we made it's uh there's some good songs on there and some of my first

02:54attempts at songwriting and i think i've come a long way since then but you know it's still i don't know

03:00i was trying to write what i felt and me and a buddy of mine will mc70 uh he kind of ran the

03:06band and stuff and so we put uh we put some of them songs together um but i don't know i love it

03:11it's it's funny i keep on you know the song on there rain in durango sean camp and guy clark

03:16wrote that together and uh i still get requests every now and then like in my vip program or just

03:24during the show people will ask for rain in durango which i think is funny um you know yeah it's been

03:28i wouldn't expect anybody to know those songs so the fact that they do is you know i'm grateful

03:33for it that people like my music enough that they dig back into the old catalog and stuff like that

03:38um it's pretty cool um as for the rest of my life i don't know people don't know that much about my

03:45life i try to keep it just to the business and promote the music well give us something that they

03:50don't know is there something is there something that people don't know about zack top that you would

03:56like them to know good question that i would like them to know

03:59other than i can kick a dang good 30 yard field goal they already know all that now they know that

04:09um i'll tell you this i used to be able to hold my breath for a long time and swim underwater

04:17you're laughing but i was something else there wasn't another damn nine-year-old that could

04:25swim 200 meters wow with their breath held and i can't remember if i was nine years old either but

04:34yeah they well i don't know if fish but amphibious definitely nicked me i i was maybe a little bit

04:41amphibious okay at least you've had enough conspiracy theories about you now they're

04:46going to start looking in to see if you're a fish person well hey i'm not here neither to confirm nor

04:52deny well we can confirm that the cma awards are coming up we did just find out not only are you

04:58performing which is awesome but you are up for five five awards going into this show yeah uh you got

05:05they must have not put anybody else up for them or something i don't know but but yes song single

05:11album new artist male vocalist i mean the list goes on and on are you shocked at all are you seeing how

05:18this stardom just like you blew up yeah it's funny i don't know i've always i feel like i feel like i

05:26am pretty decent at this uh but it's it's a different thing when um it's cool to see all of

05:35your peer you know peers and other industry members people that are in the same business as

05:41you giving you a pat on the back and being like hey man you're doing a good job um feels really

05:46really nice i'm very very thankful for it and uh yeah i hope i just keep working hard and uh trying

05:54to keep on putting out good songs and singing okay and playing okay and uh i'm just very thankful

05:59that people really enjoy it a lot it means a lot to me and um i love doing this so the fact that

06:05other people enjoy it too is means the world to me well you're better than okay and i think you're

06:09walking with definitely at least one of those awards that night thanks so we wish you the best for

06:14thank you absolutely so besides that we always love uh ending our show with a little amen if you will

06:20it is something that's going on that's good in your life besides just performing in front of all

06:24these fans here today what's that one thing in your life right now that zach top cannot stop smiling

06:28about um nice um my little lady friend miss amelia um is a wonderful yeah light in my life she's

06:38she's awesome she doesn't uh she enjoys like the whole thing yeah on the road and everything and

06:47the big shows and whatnot she's really happy for me and encourages and supports me but she's not like

06:53uh she doesn't get starstruck by any of it at all she's a very uh uh grounding influence in my life

07:02i think which i'm very thankful for um yeah her and we got a little dog together his name's otis he's

07:09off at the trainer right now and i get him back after uh thanksgiving get to go do a little bit of

07:14hunting with him so excited to get old otis back and uh we'll have the whole fam family back together

07:20again well amen to otis and your lady friend absolutely we are backstage with zach top inside
