Drew Baldridge has officially released his new album, 'FARM FAITH FAMILY,' and he recently joined us inside our Nashville studios to take us inside the emotional tracks, life raising two children, and hunting with Luke Bryan during his talk with Katie Neal.

00:14I really want to dive into it, but first, I want to know how are Katie and the kids doing?

00:18I think she's just ready for a little bit of a break.
00:21She's ready for you to come home from promoting this album.
00:24Yeah, get off the rope promoting.
00:25I mean, we've been touring all the way up through this album, too.
00:27And now that it's out, it's like, okay, let's go talk about the album.
00:31Exactly.
00:31And so I think she's ready for me to be home, which I get.
00:34And so are the boys.
00:35It's gotten our three-year-old now.
00:37Leaving has become harder because he's sad.
00:40And he gets it, which has got to wreck you.
00:42He gets it.
00:42Daddy, no leaf.
00:43And you're like, oh, that's hard.
00:45How much do they get to come out on the rope with you?
00:48So our youngest is only five months old.
00:52Yeah, I was going to ask you about how it's been going from one to two.
00:54They've only been out a couple times since he's been born.
00:58But, you know, we did this thing when we released this album.
01:01You know, from 2020 to 2024, I played people's backyards.
01:05Yeah.
01:05I mean, that's how I toured.
01:06And so when we announced this album, I wanted to find a way to do that again.
01:11And so with the album being called Farm Faith Family, we chose three farms, three churches, and three weddings.
01:18And we got to play the first farm just a couple weeks ago.
01:22And he came to that.
01:24And that's the first time that mom didn't come.
01:27And he just came with us and my manager.
01:30And he came out.
01:31And I think he made it on stage like four times.
01:34He just kept, like, I would look over and Alex, my manager, would be like, I don't know.
01:37Like, if I don't tell him to go, he's going to cry.
01:39And he'd just come walking up, just snapping, tipping his hat to the people in the front of the crowd,
01:43waving at all of them.
01:44And I'm like, what a little ham.
01:45What are you doing, bro?
01:46What are you doing?
01:47And it's like, I'm singing She's Somebody's Daughter.
01:49And he's just up there just dancing.
01:51And I'm like, you know this is She's Somebody's Daughter.
01:53What are you doing?
01:54And he's, like, tipping his hat to everybody, taking it off, shaking it.
01:56I was like, he is such a ham.
01:58He's going to be such a little artist.
01:59And it's such an interesting time because, like, there's going to be, like, different parts of, like, the evolution of
02:03him realizing what you do is different.
02:04Like, he probably right now thinks, like, everybody's daddy does this.
02:06And, like, there's going to come a point where he's going to be like, oh, that's different than what everybody
02:11else's dad is doing.
02:12And that's going to be wild.
02:14Yeah.
02:14And I think he just loves playing music.
02:16He's also a big Alan Jackson fan right now, which is just, like, my favorite.
02:20He can't say Jackson very good.

02:26And I'm like, okay, so everywhere we go, he's in the car seat with his own little guitar wanting to

02:41What a funny.
02:42I love when little kids start, like, really digging into music.
02:45Like, my nephews are four and I keep being like, what's your favorite song?
02:47They're like, what?
02:48I'm like, well, we're not there yet.
02:50We will get there.
02:51How has it been going from one to two?
02:53I mean, I know you've been gone a lot.
02:55I have been, but it's been so good.
02:57I always tell everybody our second Ronan, like, balanced the family out, like, in a good way.
03:01Because now our oldest lyric, I mean, him gets so much time together that we never had before.
03:07And it was a good, like, you know, separation from mama.
03:12And mama is, like, now, like, having to, like, hey, I got to do this with your brother and him
03:16starting to understand that.
03:17Like, the world doesn't revolve around me.
03:18He's like, I'm getting full attention from you.
03:20From dad.
03:20Yeah.
03:21I'll go with dad.
03:22And it's been just such a great balance of our family out.
03:25It's a very, I can't imagine three.
03:28Like, we talk about that.
03:29Like, right now, one-on-one is working very, very good.
03:32Like, when I'm home, very good, very well.
03:34When I'm home, it's like, I'm going to take Lyric and we're going to go do this.
03:38You know, I can't imagine having another baby and having to take two and navigate.
03:43Like, my wife is such a rock star.
03:45Mama's, I mean, in general, me touring and her being there with two by herself.
03:49My goodness.
03:50But I feel like this is usually why there's so much space between, like, the second and third child.
03:53If there is a third child, it's because, you know, you're like, oh, I'm going to figure this out a
03:56little bit.
03:56I don't know.
03:56This could be a little too much.
03:58I was cracking up a few weeks ago.
03:59You had posted the punishment for you guys' fantasy football team.
04:04And the guys on your banding crew who lost had to get tattoos.
04:07Talk about this a little bit because I loved this.
04:09Okay.
04:09So, we always said, hey, if you lose fantasy football, you have to go to a Waffle House for 24
04:17hours.
04:18Oh, my God.
04:19Every waffle you eat takes an hour off.
04:24So, if you go in and you just crush some waffles, you don't have to stay there very long.
04:28But if, like, hey, go in and sit, take your phone, make some calls.
04:31But if you, you know, eat 12 waffles in 12 hours, like, you only have to stay from 6 to
04:356.
04:36Like, not that big of a deal.
04:37Well, two years ago, our tour manager lost.
04:40Uh-huh.
04:40Didn't do it.
04:41And we let him play.
04:42Oh, that's a bold move.
04:43Yeah.
04:44Didn't do it.
04:44So, then this past year, our manager lost.
04:48Didn't do it.
04:49And so, it was coming up on fantasy football this year.
04:51And everybody in the band was wearing them out.
04:54Like, hey, you're not going to be in the league.
04:55You're not going to do it.
04:56They're not that big.
04:57Like, my tour manager was like, I have a kid.
04:59Like, when am I going to have time to just go freaking sit at Waffle House?
05:02So, you shouldn't have joined the league.
05:03And I was like, we shouldn't have done it.
05:04Be better.
05:05You know, do better.
05:06Yeah.
05:06And, well, anyways, my bass player was like, okay, guys, what if we just said, hey, you
05:12can either do that or you can go get a tattoo of a Waffle House tattoo.
05:15And they were both like, we'll go get Waffle House tattoos.
05:18Oh, my.
05:19So, they went and got Waffle House tattoos.
05:21My manager's right.
05:21He's got it on his ankle right over here.
05:23Let's see it.

05:53Okay, so what is the punishment this year for fantasy football?
05:56Have you guys determined that?

06:00I mean, depending on who you are, that's rough.
06:02Yeah, but we have some like funny guys.
06:05I have some people in my head I hope lose.
06:07Because they would actually be really good at it.
06:09But then there's some other people that I'd be like.
06:11Man, if you lose, this is going to be your absolute worst nightmare.
06:15Yeah, but five minutes can be a real long time.
06:16Five minutes.
06:17But now it's so funny.
06:18Like, we drafted on the bus.
06:19And how serious that draft was.
06:23Like, especially for him who just got the tattoo the day before.
06:26I'm not.
06:26And you're like, talk to him.
06:27He's like, go talk to me.
06:29It's my turn.
06:30Focus.
06:30I got to focus right now.
06:32Oh, my God.
06:32I can't wait to see how this pans out.
06:34I really will be looking forward to that.
06:36All right, let's talk music.
06:37So, new album, Farm Faith Family.
06:38I'm very curious.
06:39Like, what happened first?
06:41This idea to write towards these three themes?
06:44Or did the songs start to come together and you saw that this was the apparent theme?
06:48So, I always, since She's Somebody's Daughter, we started working on all those things.
06:52I wanted to put an album out that told who I was.
06:57And I wanted it to be a theme of people that could really get me.
07:01And really know me more than just, that's a She's Somebody's Daughter guy, you know?
07:05And I had this first idea of real-life country.
07:09So, it was like real songs, life songs, and then country songs.
07:13And we were like, well, that's just not good enough.
07:16And then I wrote this song called Farm Faith Family.
07:19And funny enough, it didn't even make the record.
07:22But I wrote this song.
07:22I was going to say, I was like, I don't.
07:23Where's that at?
07:24Where is that?
07:25Like, I know that I didn't see that.
07:27And I was like, playing it for the team.
07:28I was like, guys, I really like this.
07:29This is really what I stand for.
07:31And my manager was like, those should be your three.
07:34Those are your three pillars.
07:36Those are who you are.
07:37And I was like, 100%.
07:39And so, each word of these is kind of a mission in my life.
07:43You know, I grew up on a farm.
07:45I love farmers.
07:46My brother still farms.
07:48I grew up there.
07:51Obviously, faith is something that's always kept me rude.
07:54I grew up singing in church.
07:54I'm very vocal about my faith.
07:56And my family, we just talked about it for 15 minutes or however long.
08:00I'm just my boys.
08:01But also, like, I saw the family pillars.
08:05Like, my grandpa and my grandma were together for like 60 years.
08:09And seeing that family dynamic and my mom and dad.
08:13And very lucky to have a great family.
08:15And I love these three pillars so much.
08:21And I think when people just, before the album was even out, we were putting it up behind us on
08:26stage.
08:26Like, when we were out on tour with Cody Johnson.
08:28We weren't even putting our name up.
08:29We were just putting Farm Faith Family.
08:30And people would come up and meet and greets afterwards.
08:32I love what you stand for.
08:34Me too.
08:35And I'd be like, what are you talking about?
08:36They're like, oh, behind you, Farm Faith Family.
08:38And I'm like, oh, man, that's special.
08:40People are getting who I am.
08:41Yeah.
08:43Just from those three words alone.
08:45So I think just the title of the album and our tour, Farm Faith Family.
08:50People understand me and they get me.
08:51Yeah.
08:52I was going to say, like, people starting to understand these different parts of you that maybe they didn't know
08:56before.
08:57Is there any part of the album that you're like, I'm really excited for people to see this part?
09:00Yeah, I think for, I just love all three.
09:04It's really hard to say there's songs in each one of these, these tiers of the album.
09:11Like if you go get the vinyl, let's say on my website, it's literally three discs.
09:15There's a Farm Disc, a Faith Disc, and a Family.
09:18Because that's how the album, that's how I wrote it.
09:20It's like the first third is all farm songs.
09:22The middle is Faith.
09:23And what I love about the Faith part of it, I think when people see Faith, they're just going to
09:28think about God or about Jesus.
09:30But this is like Faith in Yourself.
09:32We have a song called Cool Enough Now that talks about my journey in music of getting told that no
09:38and record labels.
09:39But also Faith in Other People.
09:41Like we have a song called People Can Change.
09:43And we also have a song on here called Flowers on a Stone that is one of my favorites that
09:48I think the world needs.
09:50And there's a lot of big messages on, on this record, like in the family side, Let Them.
09:56I think of that about my boys.
09:58So it's hard to pick like which one's the favorite because there's so many songs.
10:03I know.
10:03And like you just said, like the messages on this album, like when I, I could not, I honestly did
10:08not go all the way through Flowers on the Stone because I was like, I actually can't right now.
10:11But I think that that song is so beautiful.
10:15The like half of it I got there because I was like, oh, they're coming in and I'm going to
10:18start crying and I actually can't listen to this right now.
10:20We have this incredible program at Odyssey called I'm Listening that's like about destigmatizing conversations surrounding mental health.
10:26Oh, wow.
10:26I didn't even know that.
10:27Yeah.
10:27And so it's very important to me.
10:28I'm very involved in it every single year.
10:30And I just think like this is going to be such an important song.
10:33Will you like tell the story behind that one?
10:35Yeah.
10:36So we had an amazing publisher here in Nashville named Ben Vaughn and my publisher and him were best friends.
10:45And I remember the morning after it happened, I called my publisher and he was just breaking down to me
10:51and he was kind of telling me through it.
10:53And he was crying and he was like, I'd much rather I wish he would have called me.
10:57Yeah, I would have ran any time.
11:00It didn't matter what time of the night.
11:02Like I would have been there whenever it was.
11:04I would have left anything.
11:05And and I'd much rather picked up the phone and went to a funeral and that wrecked me.
11:11And we were actually I was had a house, rented a house down south of Nashville to write for a
11:16few days with amazing writers, Jimmy Urie, Jordan Walker and Josh Jenkins.
11:20And sometimes it's hard to not to get writers to go where you want to go.
11:27But like we can't sit here and say this is going to be a radio smash.
11:31You know, I was like, guys, I want to get real with you.
11:33This is what's on my heart.
11:34Yeah, I have this idea.
11:36I think our world needs this.
11:39And they both they all just got teary eyed.
11:41And I said that story.
11:43I was like, I was like, you know, I think we call this like I'd rather pick up the phone
11:47and go to a funeral.
11:49And and Josh across from me, just like in his normal, amazing genius, he was just like, I'd rather pick
11:53up the phone and go put flowers on a stone.
11:57And what I think is so powerful about this song is it's dude to dude, you know.
12:01And I think a lot of times as a man, you're viewed as a leader in your house.
12:08You're not that there's not any pressure on women.
12:10I'm not saying that at all.
12:11But sometimes it's hard for us to be vulnerable.
12:13I always say I'm like women have an outlet, which is each other.
12:15And we will talk.
12:16We'll tell you everything we're feeling and we'll talk to each other and men just don't you want to act
12:19like you're strong all the time.
12:21I got it together.
12:22I'm not going to go to my bro and be like, dude, I'm struggling with my mental health or whatever.
12:27Yeah.
12:27And I love that this is literally just a conversation due to do.
12:32And he's like, I'm coming.
12:32I'm there for you.
12:34And I think one of the most special parts of this song is we wrote it.
12:39I was singing the like the work tape of it.
12:43And Jimmy was outside.
12:45As soon as Jimmy did done right and he would go outside and he was on his phone.
12:48He was walking around.
12:48I was in there singing the work tape and he comes running in.
12:51He's like waving his arms like what is happening.
12:54He's like kill the track, kill the track.
12:55And he puts it on speakerphone.
12:57And it's a buddy of his from back home saying, man, I don't want to go through life anymore.
13:01I don't I don't.
13:03You're the only person I can talk to.
13:04You're the only person I can call.
13:05Like I had to call you talk me off this ledge right when we wrote it that moment.
13:14And and all of us just held hands and prayed for him, you know, and it was just like after
13:19that.
13:20And I was like, I see you, God.
13:22And he's fine now and he's good and everything.
13:24But it was like just such this moment of like the world needs this song.
13:29Yeah.
13:29And I think it's so special.
13:32I love that you're putting this song out.
13:33I mean, I know Dan and Shay, you know, as much as many incredible things has been bonded for this
13:38town.
13:39Like, I really hope that like the songs that come out like Dan and Shay say so also like you,
13:43the songs that were inspired by this, like the loss in this community is just crazy.
13:48And I think about, you know, like what Jelly says about like what he's doing for men and mental health.
13:52And I just like, I'm so happy to see that movement picking up steam and you being a voice there
13:57also for it.
13:58Like, I think this is a really, really special song.
14:01I think this is a, yeah, I think the world needs this and I hope that it can save lives.
14:06I think that's the biggest thing is when people hear it and like, hey, I'm struggling there.
14:09I can call my friend.
14:11Yeah.
14:11And it's also says a lot about the friend, you know, hey, be there.
14:15No, be there for someone.
14:17Absolutely.
14:18What else on this record that fans haven't heard yet?
14:20Are you like most excited?
14:21Like what has been the track that you're like, oh my gosh, this is the one that I like really.
14:24Wait till you see how they react.
14:25There's so many, you know, it's, it's hard to say there's a, there's some fun ones.
14:30There's another song called him for her that is about domestic violence and, um, just about leaving for yourself.
14:38And I think when people read the title, she left him for her, it almost sounds like leaving for another
14:45girl, but it's like, you know, it's like left her for yourself.
14:49And, and so I love the mess.
14:51I can see that song so visually too.
14:53The way we wrote that is just like, she don't care where she's yelling.
14:57She's just getting away.
14:58And there's some real good turns of a phrase on here.
15:00Like maker's mark.
15:01I was like, oh, I did not see that one coming.
15:03Like maker's mark is a song we wrote after, um, she, somebody's daughter went number one.
15:09And, uh, don't get me wrong.
15:12Like that was an incredible moment for us.
15:14Like such a long battle.
15:16And after I got there, I was kind of like, okay, like, was it all I cracked it up?
15:22What, what is, it doesn't really matter.
15:25Like, I'm glad that this song touched a lot of people's lives, but like, if I go up and
15:30meet Jesus one day and I'm sitting across from him and I said, Hey, I got a number one
15:34song.
15:35Yeah.
15:36He'd be like, okay, what did you do?
15:39Exactly.
15:39Who did you touch?
15:40Like, what, what was your legacy?
15:43What did you, what was the goodness in that?
15:45And so that's where this song stemmed from of like, you know, it don't matter if your
15:50name and lights or your money in a bank account, your house, your car, like, how are you going
15:55to love people?
15:56Yeah.
15:57You know, how are you going to, are you going to be an open door, a welcome sign, uh, you
16:01know, a light.
16:02And when we get to play this song live now, we get to talk about that in front of thousands
16:07of people and be like, Hey, there's somebody here tonight that needs your light.
16:11You know, how are you, are you going to do that?
16:14Are you going to back down?
16:15Are you going to go do your other things or no love people, you know?
16:18And that's what I love about this message.
16:20And I think too, when people read maker's mark, they're like, Oh, it's a whiskey song.
16:24Oh yeah.
16:24Here we go.

16:27And it's like, no, this is about, I want to leave my maker's mark.
16:30Yeah.
16:31It's a special one.
16:32You mentioned when we first sat down, started talking about how you have played all of these
16:36like backyard shows and these things that you've done over the years.
16:39I'm very curious, like what has been one of the funnier or like wilder things that has
16:43happened at one of those shows?
16:45Cause there's a lot of room for error in those moments, a lot of loose cannons.
16:50It's all a blur.
16:51I'll be honest.
16:52It's all a blur.
16:53We've done so many of them and they were all so special in their own ways.
16:58You know, there's, there's some that was honestly just me and three people on a, at a, around
17:05a fire.
17:06And that is some of the most like, Oh, this is tough.
17:10You know, like, but also so special, really special.
17:14I remember the very first one we ever did.
17:17It was a Southern Illinois where I'm from and it was right out of COVID.
17:23Cause we did these right out of COVID and so it was on a 60 acre field and it was
17:28like,
17:29everybody had their own bonfire.
17:31Every family.
17:32Oh my God.
17:33I crossed this field and it was 38 degrees.
17:37Of course.
17:38And they put me on this old truck with on a, on a flatbed old truck and they all had
17:44their
17:44fricking fires and I was numb.
17:46Like I could barely put a fire.
17:48I was like, what are we doing?
17:49Y'all got your fires.
17:51I'm freezing up here.
17:52So, so there was just a lot of, a lot of moments, you know, that was so special.
17:58And also so like, Whoa, you know, we had some, cause you didn't know who you were ever meeting.
18:03And I remember one, like I would, they would just message me on Instagram and I would be
18:09like, yeah, this date, this date, talk to my tour manager and my tour manager called
18:13me one time and he was like, Hey dude, I can't get ahold of this guy.
18:17Like we're, I know we're supposed to play in his yard, but I can't get ahold of him.
18:20And, uh, I was like, all right, like, let me send a message back to the, to the lady
18:26that was putting it on or whatever.
18:27And she said, this guy was helping her out.
18:30And finally he got a whole, somebody called him and said, Hey, yo, I can't remember the
18:34guy's name.
18:34I'm just gonna call him George.
18:35Oh, George, he got thrown in the clink like a couple of weeks ago, but we still want to
18:40have this a shin dig.
18:41You come on down to the house here and we were like, I think we're going to pass on
18:46this one.
18:48And then we were like, what are we doing?
18:50Rough crowd, rough crowd.
18:52Oh my God.
18:52That's hilarious.
18:53Um, you also have been playing a ton of shows with Luke Bryan, who's one of my favorite people
18:57on the planet.
18:58Just like pure joy and hilarity at all times would have been some of the standout, like
19:03Luke isms from this tour.
19:06So freaking many, like some, I can't even talk about.
19:10I don't think people realize like when he opens his mouth, I'm laughing.
19:13Like there's very rarely, like I always say, I always tell his manager, Carrie, I'm like,
19:18Luke needs to do a standup tour.
19:19Like he is the person just hand him a microphone and let him go up there.
19:22Yeah.
19:22He's so funny.
19:23And, and he is like generally for me, like he is like up here for like artists.
19:30I grew up when I was 16, he was my favorite artist.
19:33So to be able to tour with him is crazy.
19:35And, and, uh, just a couple of weeks ago, I got, he invited me to dove hunt at his house
19:40and I got to go dove hunting with him.
19:41And how was that literally like hanging out with my childhood best friend, like my best,
19:47he's such a small town kid.
19:49And that's reminds me so much of my buddies, the way we talk to each other, the way we act,
19:53the way we do stupid things.
19:55But it was like the coolest dove hunt I've ever been on my life.
20:00Cause it's just like being a redneck with a bunch of money, you know, like for me, like
20:05that's my favorite kind of people, you know?
20:09And it's like, dude's got a dove field in his backyard and like the best setup on the
20:14planet and has like a spot for all his buddies to like, he flies, his buddies come in from
20:21his hometown to hunt and everybody's got a hay bale with their own cooler next to it.
20:26And people driving up and be like, give me your, here's more drinks.
20:29Here's some more shell.
20:30Like that's how I would do it, you know?
20:33And so it was just like a dream for me to dove hunt with Luke and, and just the way
20:37he
20:37just treats you like a normal person and a buddy.
20:40And it was seriously like hanging out with who my people are from small town back home.
20:44Just the way we talk.

20:50No, I don't know that.
20:51You've got to go listen to this song.
20:52It is like literally all about rich rednecks, but it is like one of my favorite songs she's

20:57I'll have to check it out because that is him to a T and he'd be like, man, we've got
21:01a duck hunting spot over there.

21:03And I was just like, golly, this is how I dream of living one day.

21:08Before we wrap up, I do want to do an, oh, my moment brought to us by Bob's discount

21:13I think everyone in their career has this, like, you know, when we're like, oh my, like this
21:17is happening.
21:18Like, this is a big moment in my career.
21:20Do you remember, like, I'm sure you've had several, but like, what are some standout
21:23ones for you?
21:24First time I played the Opry.
21:25That was, I know my moment.
21:27I was singing a Josh Turner song and he came out on stage and surprised me and sang your
21:32man with me.
21:33That was like, in that moment, the biggest thing of my entire life.
21:37Right.
21:37It was like Josh Turner.
21:39People try to like explain to you what happens when you're at the Opry and I got to present
21:42last December and I thought that I was prepared and I, the amount of like emotion that came
21:47over me was unbelievable.
21:49It's unbelievable in the history that you now feel a part of and like the class that
21:54you feel a part of.
21:54So that was like, whoa, that was a big moment.
21:57Finding out that I was going on tour with Cody Johnson.
22:02That was so humbling.
22:05Alex, my manager knows it because we were literally playing a 16 year old birthday party
22:10in their backyard.
22:11It was one of the last backyards we were playing and I was in the car.
22:15We were in the car and we get a call from our agent.
22:17She's somebody's daughter just went number one.
22:20And mind you, I was finding out that was an oh my too, because I did that alone.
22:25Nobody, I had nothing.
22:27I had no manager, no nothing until the song got top 10.
22:30I was completely alone.
22:32So finding out that one, number one was a no my moment, but I'll never forget finding
22:35out I was going on my first ever major tour.
22:38We were getting to play arenas and I was sitting in the parking lot playing a 16 year old's
22:46birthday party who the only song she knew was she somebody's daughter and the mom wanted
22:51me, not the daughter, you know?
22:52So I'm in here singing.
22:53She's somebody's daughter like four times and none of the kids gave a crap, you know?
22:58And so I was like, got a call from my agent and I just sat there and cried and was
23:03like,
23:04oh man, this is all working out.
23:07Even though I'm at a 16 year old's birthday, thanks God for humbling me right here that this
23:10is how our life could be, you know?
23:12So that was an oh my moment.
23:13And then my dove hunt with Luke last week, that was, that was a special moment.
23:18Like call my best friend back home this, this last week, my best friend and my brother came
23:23out on the road and with Luke and they're the same people.
23:27They're all the same people.
23:28So we were all standing there in a circle, me, Luke and my brother and my best friend
23:32hanging out, talking about hunting and everything.
23:35And I was like, this is pretty special.
23:37This is cool.
