00:00There's so much to talk about already with the Warriors,
00:02and they're sitting at 5-3,
00:03and tomorrow they'll either be 6-3 or they'll be 5-4,
00:07and I do think that 6-3 versus 5-4 will feel very, very different come tomorrow.
00:13If you go to Sacramento without Steph, and we don't know who else will sit tonight,
00:17we're kind of waiting for the official news,
00:19but you might not have Jimmy, you might not have Draymond,
00:22you might just have what you mostly put out last night,
00:26which is the B and the C team,
00:28and if you do and you lose, well, we'll feel different,
00:31and if you go out there with that, the B and the C team,
00:34and you go out and you win, you'll also feel different,
00:36so stay tuned for what the Summit tone might be tomorrow.

01:02All right, here it is.
01:03The Warriors won last night versus the Suns.
01:05Now they're in Sacramento tonight.
01:07Steph Curry is out.
01:08He was ill.
01:09He needs a break.
01:10So, simple question.
01:11We don't know about Jimmy and Draymond, as Dub said,
01:13but do you still expect the Warriors to win against the Kings tonight without Curry?
01:19Yes?
01:20No?
01:20Those are your options.
01:21So vote now on 95.7 The Game's Twitter page.
01:25We'll read the results a little bit later.
01:27We'll discuss them throughout the show as well.
01:31This is a little bit of a broader take, if you will,
01:34that I want to start the show with today.
01:35It's not just about Steph.
01:37And I will freely acknowledge,
01:39because I know Steve Kerr will talk about this for sure on our show tomorrow,
01:43the Warriors do not sound terribly pleased
01:46with the way the schedule has set up to start the year.
01:49And some people will say that's wimpy, weak talk.
01:55Others will acknowledge it.
01:56I do believe that by, I heard something earlier on the air today,
02:00something along the lines of between the beginning of the year
02:03and the end of November, the Warriors have at least, I think,
02:08two more back-to-backs than anybody else in the league.
02:11So it is a little bit excessive at the beginning.
02:14But then again, I think every team's schedule has spots in it
02:17where they're kind of like, oh, that's unfortunate.
02:20That's not a whole lot of fun or not the way that we want to do it.
02:23So everybody's got to go through it,
02:25and the Warriors are getting their turn right away.
02:28Put that aside for a second.
02:30Even if that's the case, I still think this.
02:32We are only eight games into this season,
02:35and we are already having illnesses, back injuries,
02:40load management, and overall discussion
02:44about the way the Warriors are handling this schedule and this season.
02:50We're eight games in.
02:53There are 74 more of these, okay,
02:57and we're already having this discussion.
02:59So I know some people think, yeah, they're too old.
03:02Others think, hey, there's a way to manage this.
03:05This is kind of the way I look at it.
03:08The Warriors, as Steve Kerr said last night,
03:10are going to continually make what he'll call the right decision.
03:13I don't think the Warriors have the energy for a top-four seed.
03:21I think that's what I'm seeing.
03:23I think that their strategy is to say,
03:26similar to what we saw in the playoffs last year,
03:28we're totally confident that we can win playoff series
03:31even if we have to start on the road,
03:33even if we have to play all of them on the road
03:35because of the lineup that we'll have,
03:37the experience, the Hall of Fame credentials, all of that.
03:40And so I kind of agree with them,
03:42but you're watching them attack these games right out of the gate
03:48in such a way that tells me,
03:50I think a top-four seed is going to be pretty hard to acquire
03:54in the Western Conference if you go about playing it this way.
03:58Not saying it's wrong, just it's what I see.
04:00It's what I see.
04:01I think the Warriors probably don't have the youth and the energy
04:06to really go for a top-four seed this year.
04:09And that shouldn't be the goal anyway.
04:10The goal is the top six.
04:12The goal is to avoid the play-in.
04:14And if you, like you said,
04:16last year you were the seven,
04:17and you got through the play-in,
04:19and then you took on the two and you beat the two.
04:22And then you probably would have beaten the six,
04:24who beat the three.
04:26If you had Steph Curry, you might have beaten the six,
04:28and then now you're in the Western Conference Finals
04:30and whatever, Oklahoma City was probably better than you.
04:33Who knows?
04:33You could have pulled off an upset.
04:35We will never know because Steph Curry got hurt.
04:37But for me, it's not about getting the one seed.
04:41Those days are over.
04:42Like, OKC last year, they won 67 games,
04:45and they might win 82 this year, by the way.
04:47They're 8-0.
04:48And OKC, they are so young
04:50that they don't even have to worry about
04:52whether or not they need to, like,
04:54ooh, we need to ease our way into it.
04:56It's a long year.
04:57Yeah, last year was a long year, too.
04:59And you ended up winning 83 games,
05:0267 in the regular, 16 in the playoffs,
05:04and you won the whole damn thing.
05:06So if you're an older team,
05:08you're not looking at the one seed.
05:09You're not looking at a top-four seed
05:11to get that home court advantage in the first round.
05:14You're just looking at the six.
05:15And I think all of this is all under the umbrella of
05:19let's get out of the play-in game.
05:21Let's just get to where we can be a top six.
05:23I don't disagree with you,
05:24but I do think that it might sound kind of frustrating
05:27or not feel good to fans
05:29because there is a lot of optimism
05:33surrounding the start of this season,
05:35even with what happened on the road last week.
05:38I mean, you and Grandy have been kind of poking at each other
05:41back and forth over the last week
05:43about the whole over-under 48-and-a-half wins.
05:47Well, he said it was easy money.
05:47He thinks it's easy money.
05:49Maybe you don't.
05:49Like, I don't know if I'd call it easy money.
05:52I think it's a healthy bet.
05:54But at the same time,
05:55if you feel like that the Warriors are a 50-win team this year,
06:01then I think in theory you're going into it going,
06:05this should, like, the play-in tournament
06:06should not even be a thought in their mind.
06:09And I think most people I talk to
06:11do think that the Warriors have the capability
06:14of being one of the best four teams in the West.
06:16And I sort of look at it after just watching this eight-game start,
06:20and I go, yeah, I think the Warriors think
06:21they can be one of the four best teams in the West.
06:24I don't know if they think they can be
06:26one of the top four ranked teams in the West.
06:29In other words, chasing that is a bad decision
06:33for this particular team
06:34because they need to sort of find that balance
06:38between not chasing, right?
06:41You don't want to be playing catch-up
06:43like they had to last year.
06:45So you want to stay ahead of the curve,
06:47but at the same time, while staying ahead of the curve,
06:51you've got to provide as much rest as possible.
06:54Their number one free agent signing this year
06:57walked into the building
06:58and already eliminated about 20 games from his schedule
07:02before the season even started.
07:04Right?
07:05That's it.
07:05Al Horford, no back-to-backs.
07:07Okay.
07:08So that is a prickly and tricky thing to do, I think,
07:12to sit here and be like,
07:13we believe we're a championship contender,
07:16but we have to energetically go about this
07:19in a way that is going to eliminate
07:22some of our potential advantages in the playoffs
07:24right off the bat.
07:25But if you look at the schedule,
07:27they don't have the most back-to-backs in the league.
07:29They've got, they're tied for the second most,
07:31and you look at their schedule,
07:33and it's very front-heavy,
07:35but if you get to January,
07:36it gets a lot easier.
07:38And I think that there's about a five-week period
07:40where you don't leave the time zone,
07:42and there's a lot of those games
07:43where you don't even leave the state.
07:45So right now,
07:45you look at the front of the schedule,
07:47and it's brutal.
07:48And you've got a six-game trip coming up.
07:50You've got San Antonio back-to-back.
07:52You've got OKC on that trip as well.
07:55You've got an Orlando-Miami back-to-back.
07:57The beginning of your schedule is very, very difficult.
08:00So it's not as easy as, like last year,
08:02you built up a 12-4 record,
08:04and you thought, all right, we banked some wins.
08:06And then you gave it all away.
08:08This year, for me,
08:09it's about survival in the opening 20.
08:11And then you get a chance to take a little bit of a breath.
08:14It's more home-heavy.
08:16It's less East Coast-heavy on a big-time road trip.
08:19So it's kind of an odd thing
08:21where you want to load manage
08:23throughout the course of the year,
08:24but at the same time,
08:25you don't want to give away games.
08:27Like tonight,
08:28if you don't have Jimmy and Draymond and Steph,
08:30that might be a game that you just give away.
08:32Well, and I mean, to the poll question,
08:34I don't think that even if those guys are out,
08:36I don't think it means the Warriors
08:37automatically lose the basketball game.
08:39You know what I mean?
08:40Like, they've got other NBA players.
08:42They've got people who can put the ball in the hoop.
08:45And maybe it's an opportunity for Jonathan Kaminga
08:47that, you know, we've talked about this offseason.
08:50The nights when Steph wouldn't play,
08:52does he sort of take more of a lead offensive role?
08:54We'll see.
08:55Don't know about Jimmy and Draymond yet.
08:57However, I think you're right
08:59from the standpoint that like,
09:00okay, take a look at Friday night.
09:02On paper, the Warriors lose that game.
09:06On paper, you go to Denver,
09:09NBA Cup,
09:10all of the travel early in the season.
09:13The adrenaline of the cup.
09:14Well, the altitude,
09:16and the Steph coming off of illness,
09:19the Jimmy Butler in the back.
09:20On paper, you lose that game.
09:23So it's like you're almost making trades
09:25with the schedule.
09:26Right.
09:27All right, Friday.
09:28I don't like Friday.
09:29But we got Phoenix and Sacramento
09:32earlier in the week.
09:34So remember what Steve said.
09:35Win the week.
09:37Well, then popular thought would be
09:40if you want to win the week
09:41with those early games,
09:43then you don't sit out your best players
09:45in Sacramento.
09:46Back-to-back or not.
09:47But you can't afford to, like, play with that
09:49if Steph is not feeling well
09:51and it's clear that he's not
09:52and Jimmy's got a back
09:54that kept him out of the second half
09:55and Draymond is always, like,
09:58seven ice packs away
09:59from, you know, just shutting it down.
10:02So when you have an older team,
10:03you don't necessarily get to, like,
10:05pick and choose when you rest
10:07because if Steph is sick
10:08and it's clear that he is,
10:09he's not playing.
10:11Jimmy, we don't know.
10:12Draymond, I mean, with that body,
10:14you just never know.
10:15So you don't have the ability to be like,
10:17all right, we're going to sit Sacramento,
10:18but you know what?
10:19We're going to be ready to go for Denver.
10:21I agree with you,
10:21but I wonder how y'all feel
10:23about the fact that we're having
10:24this conversation already.
10:26We're eight games in.
10:28I'm not surprised.
10:29Okay, but how about y'all, Warrior fans?
10:32Are you comfortable
10:33with how the Warriors strategically
10:36are going about this?
10:38Sure, the Steph thing is different.
10:39He's sick.
10:39But are you comfortable with this?
10:42We're only eight games in.
10:44It's good.
10:45You're correct.
10:46It's still doing it.
10:46It's been fun.
10:48We're not just doing it.
10:48Absolutely.
10:48We hope you guys,
10:49Mark,
10:50really miss you with this.
10:50I think we have a guest.
10:51See,
10:52if I don't know who we are,
10:52there are superheroes
10:53and I believe they are.
10:54We'll be fair.
10:55We go see superheroes
10:55and we've been on show
10:56for that.
10:57Theütfen empresas
11:10and the І
