00:00Last night was fun, and I don't mean, even though it was, I don't mean the fraternalization
00:09sensation of Willie and Dibby and Stiney and Goo.
00:13That was great to get to chop it up and eat it up and soak it up and all of
00:18those things,
00:19but last night was one hell of a basketball game.
00:22I do want to give like a little zing.
00:25Let me just slide a little zing in there.
00:27Okay.
00:28I mean, when you see a game like that, in general, in sports, I wonder if you could fill
00:33in the blank.
00:34Let's play match game.
00:35Fill in the blank.
00:36Wow.
00:36Boom.
00:37Boom.
00:38Boom.
00:39Normally in sports, normally, I'm not telling you what you have to do here, but normally
00:46in sports, when a team that has less talent and is beset by injuries wins a game, especially
00:56on the road, you go, wow, that's good blank.
01:03That's good, Schmidt.
01:06Boom.
01:06Boom.
01:07Boom.
01:07Boom.
01:07Boom.
01:08Boom.
01:08Yeah.
01:09I mean, how would you fill it?
01:11Is that your guess?
01:12I mean, that's good stuff.
01:14Like, that's good blank.
01:15I think that's good times.
01:18Ford Evans.
01:19What did we say when the 49ers repeatedly did this this year?
01:23Tons of injuries, and then they would win games.
01:26What did we say?
01:27Boy, they're really well blanked.
01:31Oh, coach.
01:32Yeah.
01:33Yeah.
01:37They're well coached.
01:38You said good, so I couldn't say they're good coached.
01:41No, I was going for coaching at that point.
01:44Oh, that's good coaching.
01:45I was going for coaching, yeah.
01:45Yeah.
01:45I mean, it's good coaching, but it's like Steve Kerr's whole thing where if they have, you
01:51know, everybody and the other team has nobody, he's terrified, and they lose.
01:55And so, last night, they had everybody, and the Warriors had nobody, and they won.
02:00So, maybe he's on to something where, you know, the team that has virtually nobody, and
02:04apologies to Draymond Green and Pods, who, by the way, is going to get the max.
02:10No.
02:12I mean, Pods is getting the max.
02:13He had a good game.
02:14He had a phenomenal game, and he's had a good run.
02:17So, I won't make this about that because I don't want, you know, people to, like,
02:21straight line it up, but this is what Steve Kerr's told us.
02:24Like, when they have everybody, and they go up against a team with nobody, it's hard
02:28because those nobodies, they try.
02:30So, the Warriors last night, they tried, and they kept trying, and Draymond in the pregame
02:35said, you know what?
02:36We need to actually go out there and try, and they did.
02:39He was great.
02:39Yeah, he was awesome.
02:40They all were good.
02:41By the way, tucked into all of this, do you see what the Warriors are doing with Draymond
02:46Green?
02:48Everyone's worried about and wondering about his role, and they wanted to adjust, right?
02:52Does everybody see?
02:52I wonder, this is what I see.
02:54You tell me if we're onto something here.
02:57I think what the Warriors are going to do with Draymond Green, they're agreeing with you.
03:02Boy, right now, offensively, this doesn't work.
03:05So, let's just use Draymond Green basically as a defensive player.
03:10So, when we go against another team that has a really good player, especially if that person's
03:15not a guard, if the best player on the other team is like 6'6 or taller, when he goes
03:23in,
03:24Draymond goes in.
03:25When he goes out, Draymond goes out.
03:27It's what they did against the Clippers with Kawhi.
03:29It's what they did last night with the Rockets and Kevin Durant.
03:34It makes a lot of sense.
03:36It makes a lot of sense when you have other people who can step up and actually score.
03:39And, you know, last night you did, and it was Pods with 26, and Melton with 23, and Al
03:45Horford, who every game that goes by, I like him more and more.
03:49And I was critical early, and I was probably too critical too early.
03:54But, he's a guy who is a steadying influence.
03:57Very, very, yeah, very calming presence.
03:59Very calming presence.
04:01And just, you know, that's what you, I mean, good decisions, usually pretty good execution.
04:07Everybody has nights where they go one for six from three.
04:09But, yeah, like Al, Al can rebound.
04:13Al is smart down low.
04:17Defensively, boy, the Warriors got a big bucket on a post-up last night late in the game.
04:21A post-up?
04:22A post-up.
04:23A Quinton post-up?
04:24A post-up where a tall person got the ball and went, boom, boom, boom, boom, score.
04:29Yeah.
04:30I haven't seen that, and I mean.
04:32Well, we all were watching the Quinton post-up where he got the ball, and he did like a couple
04:36dribbles and a little half hook, and I was like, oh, don't do that.
04:39Don't do that.
04:40I mean, one of his two shots, but LJ Cryer with 12 off the bench.
04:44Yeah.
04:44You know, all five starters in double figures, and it was one of those games where I know that
04:49I was just kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop.
04:52I'm like, okay, good two quarters, good three quarters.
04:55I thought they'd lose in the fourth quarter.
04:56Good four quarters.
04:56And then like, okay, overtime, you're not going to, oh, wait, you win.
05:00Well, when they give it up late third, when they give up the lead, the thought was, well,
05:04okay, here we go.
05:06Here we go.
05:06And I wasn't even going to be mad at that.
05:08Like, they don't have fourth quarter scoring finishers.
05:12They don't have that on their team right now.
05:14But, you know, if you move the ball around and you happen to hit a few big threes, which
05:19they did, boy, DeAnthony Melton in that 28-point-something percent, boy, he's flushed a huge one late in
05:27the game, and then you end up in overtime, and then you still have kind of the guts and
05:33the wherewithal to keep pushing and hit some big shots, that was pretty damn enjoyable.
05:39And from what I see from those who were on the scene, media members and whatnot in the
05:45locker room, you said last night was probably the happiest locker room they've been in all
05:49year long.
05:50Yeah.
05:50I mean, it got Steph Curry to tweet or text Raymond and, you know, say basically that was
05:55awesome and all the rest of it.
05:56And so, yeah, it's a big win.
05:58Does it mean like bigger things down the road?
06:00Probably not.
06:01But Steve Kerr talked to us earlier in the week about we need to like pick some off.
06:06Pick a few off.
06:06That's a pick right there.
06:07That's a pick six in NFL parlance.
06:10That's one that you didn't probably expect to win, but you hung in, you led, you blew
06:16it, you recovered, you forced OT, and you won on the road.
06:20Look, this is a bigger thing that I'm about to bring up, and maybe it's not the perfect
06:24time to do it, because Mike Dunleavy is going to be on in six minutes, and I really would
06:28love, I'd really love to dig into this with all of you, with you and everybody listening,
06:34888-957-9570.
06:36Randy, I had, I wouldn't call it lengthy, but I had a significant conversation today
06:41with somebody inside the Warriors organization.
06:44Inside.
06:45And go ahead, Randy.
06:48Totally.
06:49They're confused.
06:50By?
06:51And flustered.
06:52By?
06:53What they hear.
06:55From?
06:55All of us.
06:57And I don't mean us.
06:59The fans, yeah.
07:00The fans.
07:01They don't understand why you're so mad.
07:05I'm angry, Jeff.
07:06Which is awesome.
07:08But they don't.
07:10And like, and I hope that comes across not as like a slanted statement because it's coming
07:18from inside the organization.
07:20It was a fascinating conversation because they genuinely, they didn't want to fight about
07:26it.
07:26They just wanted to know.
07:28And this person actually reached out to me.
07:31He's like, you talk to the fans every day.
07:34Yeah.
07:35What is it?
07:36Like, and then they go through kind of their perspective.
07:40Right.
07:40And you get it, right?
07:41Like, I don't know if y'all noticed, we've been really good for a long time.
07:44Right.
07:45And now we're kind of not, but I don't know if you noticed, like a really good players all
07:48got hurt.
07:49And like.
07:50And your response is, Pod's hair.
07:52And Draymond can't score.
07:55Yeah.
07:55And I mean.
07:56I think they get the Kaminga thing.
07:58Sure.
07:58Everybody understands that.
08:00But that is this like one molecule of a much larger cake.
08:07Like, and they're like, I, what is everybody, why is everybody so mad?
08:14Like, it was kind of like, what did we do?
08:16Right.
08:17You know, like you ever been a husband before?
08:19A couple of times.
08:20You come home, come home and you go in the house and everybody's mad.
08:25Yeah.
08:25And you're like, yeah.
08:26Yeah.
08:27What did I do?
08:28Nothing.
08:28That's.
08:30I think that's how the warriors feel right now.
08:32Right.
08:32But at the same time, if I leave a sink full of dishes or if I didn't take out the
08:36garbage
08:36or if I left the kitchen a mess, it's like, that's the right now.
08:39But in general, for whatever, 14 years, they've been a good husband.
08:43Yeah.
08:44Like, I mean.
08:44They've been an amazing husband.
08:45Bought the house.
08:46Right.
08:47Like.
