00:00it obviously pete rose barry bonds and roger clemens should all be in the hall of fame so i'm
00:06gonna keep those guys to the side here are the guys that we're fighting over now okay all right
00:11carlos delgado great player at no point in his career did you think of carlos delgado
00:18as one of the best players in the game yes i did you didn't yes i did you didn't sorry like second
00:23an mvp or first an mvp he was great look it up all right didn't hit 500 home runs isn't a 300 hitter
00:31he's been eligible since 2009 okay yeah not in the hall of fame for 15 years what has he done since
00:39then to warrant getting in i would not put carlos delgado in the hall of fame no disrespect okay next
00:46guy jeff kent jeff kent's a hall of famer no he's not and again i don't want to besmirch what he did
00:56he was really good at second if he was only i've been able to stand your words not mine
01:01he was really good yeah he was really good is the hall of fame for players who were your words
01:07not mine really good i wouldn't put him in okay i wouldn't put him in we can move on all right
01:12jeff kent batted 290 hit 377 home runs uh been around for almost 20 years okay yeah if you didn't
01:20get in in 2015 why am i putting you in now fair enough jeff kent was pretty good and he won an
01:25mvp pretty good yeah pretty good all right the next guy now this is a tough one uh-huh because there's
01:30a new york bias to this one and it's donnie baseball don mattingly okay uh-huh don mattingly finished
01:37his playing career with a 307 batting average very impressive there are not a lot of guys
01:42guys not in the hall of fame who had the length of career donnie had batted over 300 and yet
01:49because there's no postseason success because he retired uh right before the yankees were on their
01:54run yep don he's not in now now watch me say something very unpopular okay and i felt bad for
02:01donnie that the blue jays lost to the dodgers because don mattingly was three inches away from a
02:08world series ring as a bench coach with the toronto blue jays don mattingly is not a hall of famer
02:16sorry to say that i know that angers yankee fans but don mattingly and it's not his fault he had the
02:23back issues for the the second half of his career he was a great baseball player but not for a long
02:30enough period of time i don't hold the postseason fairs against him it was just his place a lot in
02:37line where he wasn't a part of the yankee dynasty probably would have gotten in if he's a part of
02:42that 95 to 2000 run yeah but he wasn't he wasn't all right and i love don mattingly i would love him to
02:50get in but i got it called honestly don mattingly should not get into the hall of fame because again
02:57he didn't get in when the time was ripe he's not a steroid guy he's beloved by the baseball writers
03:04he's a good dude and they didn't put him in for 20 years now 30 years that he's not gotten in so what
03:13has he done to get in his numbers haven't changed no they haven't and i know you don't like them the
03:18advanced stat guys and there's a lot of the voters now that are into those those also didn't shine on
03:23him brightly enough to get him in and for that reason i have to agree i do want to give him credit
03:27though great glove at first base and that matters for something for nine years was arguably the best
03:32first baseman of baseball sapped his power when his back went not for 10 years no it wasn't for 10
03:37and baseball hall of fame is not based on three years of success it's just not yeah right it's kind of
03:43you got to have i think at least a decade or close to a decade of continued success
03:48you have to and it's not a knock on don mattingly he just didn't have that yeah
03:53he retired over 300 which is awesome but go look at his last couple years and games played and all that
03:59stuff
04:04you
04:16you
04:18you
04:20you
