00:01:30Oh, that's stunning.
00:01:33Kyogo again.
00:01:35A double-double.
00:01:39Yes!
00:01:41Oh, what a wonder bar.
00:01:44Aida nips in her head there.
00:01:46What a chance for Dyson, Maida.
00:01:48What a chance for Dyson, Maida!
00:01:51Just a few days ago, Martin O'Neill was sitting in a coffee shop on the King's Road in London.
00:02:04And after a quick call from Dermot Desmond, here he is today, leading a Celtic side into Hampden Park for a League Cup semi-final of huge importance.
00:02:13Rangers are the opposition this afternoon, the kick-off is around 15 minutes away.
00:02:19This is Celtic TV's live coverage of the semi-final of the League Cup between Celtic and Rangers.
00:02:25Simon Donnelly is alongside me as the boys arrived at Handen Park.
00:02:33They looked in a lot of confidence, obviously there's been a change at the top this week, but as Colin McGregor said in his press conference yesterday, everyone is focused at the job.
00:02:42And Simon, how much are you looking forward to this one?
00:02:46Really looking forward to Gerry, all to play for.
00:02:50It's been a chaotic week at the club with all the change.
00:02:54They did the game on Wednesday night, I thought the boys responded well after everything that had happened Monday, Tuesday of the week.
00:03:00Responded well with a good result, good performance.
00:03:03It's a real feel-good factor around Celtic Park as well.
00:03:05Hopefully we can take it into the game today.
00:03:07It's a massive game and it's a game I feel that if we can get the win, really kick-starts the season.
00:03:11Yeah, little changes you could tell to the Celtic approach in that 4-0 win against Volcourt.
00:03:17Let's have a look then at the starting 11 that Martin O'Neill and Sean Maloney have chosen for this one.
00:03:22It is Kasper Schmeichel in goal, a back four of Anthony Ralston, Austin Trusty, Liam Scales and Marcelo Saracci.
00:03:29A midfield three of Callum McGregor, Armour Engels and Benjamin Negrin.
00:03:33Dyson Maeda and Sebastian Tenekte on the flanks with Johnny Kenny through the middle.
00:03:40Simon Donnelly, your thoughts on that?
00:03:42Yeah, listen, the team it did the other night was fantastic.
00:03:45I was wondering what would happen today, what would Martin O'Neill's thoughts be.
00:03:49He's changed it a little bit.
00:03:50I think there's no surprise that Maeda's back in.
00:03:53He's tormented Rangers over the time he's been here with his pace.
00:03:57I think he puts them in the back foot.
00:03:58They worry about him.
00:04:00So I can understand he's back in.
00:04:01And the little left back was fantastic during the week.
00:04:04A lot of energy, up and down, aggressive.
00:04:07I think the fans have really warmed to him as well, Saracci.
00:04:09So he's won a place in the starting 11 as well.
00:04:12But listen, it's about the team.
00:04:14I thought it was a really good team performance the other night, Gerry.
00:04:17And it will need another one today to get us at a level that we can get ourselves into the final.
00:04:21Let's hear it from Celtic's interim manager, Martin O'Neill.
00:04:24He's been speaking to our reporter, Matthew Campbell.
00:04:27Martin, we are at Hampden Park for the League Cup semi-final.
00:04:30First of all, does it still feel a little bit surreal to be here as Celtic manager for an occasion like this?
00:04:36Well, it certainly does.
00:04:37You know, I've been making plans for the week, the previous week.
00:04:43And this certainly wasn't part of it.
00:04:46But it's here now.
00:04:48Obviously, I'm delighted and privileged to be here.
00:04:51And let's go for it.
00:04:52Yeah, absolutely.
00:04:53Well, on to the match then.
00:04:54What do you hope to see from the team today?
00:04:57Just the same.
00:04:58You know, we got a decent performance from the side against Falkirk.
00:05:02You just have to, you know, of course, this is a semi-final.
00:05:05It's against big rivals as well, too.
00:05:08Mutual venue, all of those type of things.
00:05:10So things change, like everything else.
00:05:12But overall, just the same, I would have said the same sort of intensity that we showed.
00:05:17And I think that that would be probably the word.
00:05:19And I'd like us to play well if we can.
00:05:22Naturally, love us to win.
00:05:23Yeah, absolutely.
00:05:24You mentioned the word intensity there.
00:05:26We see Dyson coming in from the start.
00:05:28Was there a hope that, you know, his pace and energy can sort of put us on the front foot?
00:05:32Of course.
00:05:32I mean, I thought James Forrest played very, very well indeed.
00:05:35But James, you know, just, I think you just have to just be careful with him at this minute.
00:05:41It might be a very, very long afternoon.
00:05:43Might be.
00:05:43You don't know.
00:05:44And I can still imagine him playing a part in proceedings.
00:05:48But, yeah, Maeda in there, behind perhaps.
00:05:51And just giving that energy that he's got.
00:05:54Yeah.
00:05:54And finally, of course, you're no stranger to these occasions as Celtic manager.
00:05:59How big a part, you know, can the Celtic support here play today?
00:06:02Oh, listen, you wouldn't even have to ask me that.
00:06:05You know that it's been massive throughout my time as a manager at the football club.
00:06:09We would have not.
00:06:10I had some fantastic footballers at my disposal, really terrific.
00:06:14But we wouldn't have won half the things that we won without the crowd.
00:06:17And that's, we know that.
00:06:19And the players know that.
00:06:19Yeah, well, best of luck today and thanks very much for speaking to us.
00:06:26With the legendary Martin O'Neill at the helm.
00:06:30I assume he will be giving words of encouragement, words of inspiration inside that dressing room.
00:06:35Celtic will look for the leaders on the pitch today as well.
00:06:38Callum McGregor.
00:06:39Well, he won't come bigger in terms of leadership than the Celtic captain.
00:06:42He praised Brendan Rogers, had special praise for the departed John Kennedy at his press conference yesterday
00:06:48as he looked ahead to this huge semi-final.
00:06:52Martin O'Neill himself has said the other day, it was quite surreal to be back here.
00:06:57Is it that for you?
00:06:59I mean, you would have been 12 when he was here in the academy, I think, when he was here the first time around.
00:07:04Is it kind of, you just get used to it after a couple of days, but does it still seem a bit strange to you to be acting with him in this?
00:07:12Yeah, yeah, obviously, like you said, it was almost a full generation ago that he was here the first time.
00:07:18And you've obviously seen the team being super successful, winning trophies, getting to the UEFA Cup final.
00:07:24And like you said, I was coming through the academy.
00:07:26So at that time, it was really inspiring to have the first team performing so well.
00:07:31And you've seen how big the club was that you think, well, you know, one day I want some of that.
00:07:36So to actually be here working with him on a really personal level, then it's amazing.
00:07:43He's been great.
00:07:44He's, you know, he's sharp as a tack.
00:07:46He's a really good person and he's got good people around him as well.
00:07:50So hopefully with a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck, then hopefully we'll be successful.
00:08:26Slight differences to the way that Celtic approach the game against Olgut would suggest that with Arnott Engels alongside McGregor,
00:08:33gives him some support in there, allowing Benjamin Negrin to get forward and almost act as a bit of a support for Johnny Kenny up front.
00:08:40Yeah, that's the way it looked on Wednesday night.
00:08:42I think Negrin is a player who gets himself into some fantastic situations.
00:08:48It doesn't always happen for him, but he keeps persevering.
00:08:52And he's showed in the last two midweek games, especially getting on the score sheet.
00:08:55But I thought on Wednesday night, yeah, it looked a little bit closer to Johnny Kenny.
00:08:59They linked up really well at different times.
00:09:01Little flicks around the corner to each other.
00:09:02So hopefully they'll build up an understanding there.
00:09:05But yeah, there's just little tweaks in that team.
00:09:07And I just thought it looked a little bit better in terms of going forward and a wee bit more urgency.
00:09:12Yeah, a bit more direct.
00:09:13I think maybe the best word to describe it.
00:09:16When you looked at the stats, I know Martin O'Neill's not big into his stats in terms of getting too specific about things.
00:09:24But Celtic's passing stats were bound, possession stats were bound, but were probably more of a threat going forward.
00:09:33Which seems a bit odd, but it's just the approach, a bit more direct.
00:09:37A few more long balls as well.
00:09:39That's the way that Martin O'Neill played.
00:09:42Yeah, and I think watching, I would say, the first 15-20 minutes of the game when they were going a little bit more direct,
00:09:48the balls weren't of a quality.
00:09:49But as the game grew, and we certainly got the first goal, I think around about the half hour mark, I think it was,
00:09:55we grew confidence in that.
00:09:56And there was a lot more questions posed just with getting balls into channels.
00:10:00I think Konecki's goal is a perfect example of that.
00:10:03Luke McCurran plays it into a channel, and he takes off and finishes it.
00:10:06Just a little bit different in the gameplay, as I say, with a manager coming in.
00:10:10He's not waved a magic wand in two days, but he's had an effect on the team,
00:10:14and he'll have found an effect again today.
00:10:16It's interesting because normally when you go into a game like this between Celtic and Rangers,
00:10:21you kind of know exactly how both teams are going to approach it.
00:10:24It's a bit of an odd one because there's questions over both teams' approach because they've got two new guys at the helm.
00:10:30Yeah, I would agree with you.
00:10:32I think Rangers have changed their shape in the last couple of games as well, a bit of success.
00:10:36So they'll be feeling good about themselves coming into the game as well with their new manager.
00:10:39Yeah, I don't know what to expect today.
00:10:43I keep reminding myself that, in my opinion, Celtic are the best players of the two teams,
00:10:47but they have to perform and they have to go and show that today.
00:10:50How huge is the Martin O'Neill factor in this?
00:10:52Just in the way that he is able to inspire a team.
00:10:56You know, his pre-match team talk at Anfield, for instance, in the run to Seville,
00:11:01has gone down and fought for, has been one of the legendary team talk for those who witnessed it.
00:11:06How big will something like that be in a situation like this?
00:11:10Well, I'm kind of led to believe, I missed Martin from maybe a year and a half when he came into Celtic,
00:11:16but I've certainly played with guys that have played under him and worked under him,
00:11:19and I'm led to believe the magic happens in the dressing room on a match day.
00:11:23He likes to go in there and make players feel good about themselves,
00:11:25feel 10 feet tall, ready for the game.
00:11:28He's got coaches who do the work Monday to Friday.
00:11:31It's days like today that you look to somebody like Martin O'Neill to go in there
00:11:34and inspire the team to come out and put a performance in.
00:11:37Yeah, it's been quite a week for the new coaching team as well.
00:11:40Sean Maloney, of course, and Mark Botheringham.
00:11:43Mark Botheringham, the wheel can have outsized you're coming in.
00:11:46Sean Maloney already had a role at Lennox Town.
00:11:48Steven McManus, of course, who's involved there as well,
00:11:51mainly with the B team.
00:11:53He will now move up to help with Sean and Mark Botheringham with first-team matters.
00:11:58Stevie Wooks still there, Gavin Strachan's still there.
00:12:01So a lot of the same faces as well, but a different approach
00:12:04when you've got different people at the top,
00:12:07and you will see that in effect in the next couple of minutes.
00:12:11Celtic, of course, the League Cup winners last year,
00:12:15that one went to penalty kicks, Dyson Maeda,
00:12:17with the famous Jacks winning penalty.
00:12:22The semi-final last year was 6-0.
00:12:25It's the outfit against Haberbeam.
00:12:26Take that this afternoon.
00:12:28I'm going to be 6-2, Simon, you might take that.
00:12:30But we're not expecting anything along those lines this afternoon.
00:12:33It really is the kind of game where anything can happen
00:12:36as the teams line up inside the tunnel at Hampden Park.
00:12:40Something has got to give.
00:12:41The final against St Mirren on December 14th
00:12:45is what awaits the winners of this one.
00:12:47Played to a finish this afternoon.
00:12:50Referee Mick Walsh alongside his assistant,
00:12:53Daniel McFarlane, and Frank Connor.
00:12:55On the bar, it is Stephen McFarlane, assisted by Andrew Ballas.
00:13:01And the teams come out here at Hampden Park
00:13:04to a roar from both sides of the stadium,
00:13:09from both sets of supporters.
00:13:11It is Celtic against Rangers in the semi-final of the League Cup.
00:13:16Welcome to Celtic TV's live coverage of the League Cup semi-final
00:13:41between Celtic and Rangers, which have just joined us.
00:13:43It is, can't push Michael in goal, aesthetic.
00:13:46It is a back four of Anthony Wargson,
00:13:49Austin Crusty, Liam Scales, and Marcelo Serrachi.
00:13:53Calum McGregor will captain the hook.
00:13:55In the midfield, alongside Arnie Engels and Benjamin Newgren.
00:13:59Dyson Laeda and Sebastian Kinecti on the wings.
00:14:03And Irish striker Johnny Kenny keeps his place.
00:14:06Halford getting a brace against Colt Cup midweek.
00:14:09A huge afternoon for these players.
00:14:11For Rangers, it's Buckland in goal.
00:14:13Back three of Jigar, Susser and Cornelius.
00:14:16And midfield five of Cavomir, Lassin,
00:14:19Diamandie, Magona and Asdar.
00:14:22With Danilo and Cianniti playing as the striking pair for Rangers.
00:14:29Martin O'Neill back in the hand dugout.
00:14:34Where over 20 years ago, he was successful for Celtic.
00:14:38He knows exactly what it's like to win silverware for this club.
00:14:42And he would love nothing more than to help Celtic to another final.
00:14:48And he's to say if he does that, he might be here himself.
00:14:53Who knows?
00:14:54He does say it's only a temporary situation for him here at Celtic Park.
00:14:59But it remains to be seen when Celtic get a permanent manager in place.
00:15:04And he means like Martin is very much the man in charge.
00:15:10Everyone at Celtic is united in the cause this afternoon as you get through to the League Cup final.
00:15:18He's got the atmosphere inside Hamden signing.
00:15:24Ah, electric, electric, fantastic spectacle between these two again.
00:15:31And I'll stress that it's a great opportunity, Gerry, to really get our season going.
00:15:37If we can get ourselves into next month's final.
00:15:39Midweek tip to Denmark to face Michelin at the back of everyone's mind.
00:15:53Nowhere is anyone thinking about that.
00:15:55It's all about Hamden Park.
00:15:57At the start of November, semi-final of the League Cup, Celtic will kick off with the shooting from right to left.
00:16:13Rangers manager Danny Rose, first experience with a Hamden tie.
00:16:21Nick Walsh gets the game underway, and we're off and running.
00:16:28William Scales, early touch, Rangers.
00:16:31Early press, but Celtic keep possession.
00:16:33Anthony Ralston now, playing right back for Celtic this afternoon.
00:16:37Still no Alistair Johnson, he's still coming back for an injury.
00:16:40Interesting that Colby Donovan didn't hate the squad as well.
00:16:46So Anthony Ralston very much the man.
00:16:48With the right back jersey, but his pass forward is out for a throw-in.
00:16:52And Graves is now half possession.
00:16:54The goal three at the back, the man in the middle.
00:16:56His sit-up launches a long ball.
00:16:59From the channel to the right-hand side.
00:17:00First-time pass from Tavernier inside.
00:17:03William Scales is there with the head.
00:17:04Ball breaks.
00:17:05Calum McGregor's way, looking to play him.
00:17:07To net kick.
00:17:09He's on the left wing.
00:17:11Kaisa Maeda is on the right wing this afternoon.
00:17:15Johnny Kenny through the middle.
00:17:16Celtic cover through.
00:17:18Marcelo Saracic keeps his place after a very impressive performance against Fulker.
00:17:32Camelius to Suter.
00:17:36Pass forward with the Vatavonier.
00:17:37Intersected by Tunecci.
00:17:39Head of forward is onto the head of Saracic.
00:17:42That's out for a throw to Rangers in there.
00:17:46Right back position.
00:17:49There's the Celtic fans, you can hear.
00:17:51Loud and clear from Southampton Park.
00:17:53It's a frantic start.
00:17:57It'll be interesting to see how Maeda, we've seen him, we've been familiar with him on the left-hand side so many times.
00:18:04He's been asked to do a job on that right-hand side this afternoon.
00:18:07And with the pace there, he likes to go on the outside.
00:18:11Test that back line of Rangers.
00:18:13He plays that one out to Saracic.
00:18:25Back to Scales.
00:18:26Trusty again.
00:18:31And a bit of pressure here from Asgard.
00:18:33So, Trusty.
00:18:35Back to Kasko Schmeichel, who feeds it out to Anthony Ralston.
00:18:40Back to Trusty.
00:18:41Long ball forward by Trusty, encouraging Tunecci to go on to that one.
00:18:50He does, and he does well.
00:18:51That came off Cavamere at last, so a throw in quickly, take it.
00:18:56Saracic.
00:18:57Lows that one back to Scales.
00:19:03Saracic.
00:19:04Good few touches in these opening stages.
00:19:06McGregor to Scales.
00:19:08Through the middle, Saracic in an advanced position, but...
00:19:14Didn't get that one under control.
00:19:15Rangers launch the ball up, but still can't get out of their own half.
00:19:18Austin Trusty, the last man back for Celtic on the halfway line.
00:19:22McGregor back inside to Trusty.
00:19:26Three minutes gone, Celtic with a bulk of possession in the opening.
00:19:30A few minutes.
00:19:35Well, it's been taking no chance.
00:19:36Back to Schmeichel again, trying to feed that one out to the left.
00:19:39A missed kick.
00:19:41Gives Tunecci a chance.
00:19:43Plays it across.
00:19:44The low ball straight up.
00:19:46John Sutton washes that one behind for the first corner of the match.
00:19:49It goes Celtic's way after three and a half minutes.
00:19:51There's a couple of direct passes.
00:19:53First with Trusty getting us up the field to Tunecci that time.
00:19:56Schmeichel, it's a mistake.
00:19:57But that's what happens.
00:19:58You put the ball in there and put a little bit of pressure up.
00:20:00Mistakes can happen.
00:20:02You almost capitalise there.
00:20:04Tunecci on the left-hand side.
00:20:05Well, Stump and Maeda keep this one in.
00:20:16He can.
00:20:17Plays that one back.
00:20:19To the edge of the six-yard box.
00:20:20And a little bit of confusion in the Rangers defense.
00:20:23Celtic managing to penetrate.
00:20:25Down the left and the right flanks in these opening stages.
00:20:27Celtic have a throw in on the far side.
00:20:29it's effective football, you know Maeda's going to make that run
00:20:34it's a nice little clip from Ralston, immediately turns that back line
00:20:37and there's threat, just couldn't find anybody in the middle
00:20:40he's cross, Celtic walking out to Sirachi
00:20:43inside left, in comes the cross, Maeda coming in at the back post
00:20:47Johnny Kenny had a chance to control that one first
00:20:50but another enticing pass in there from Sirachi
00:20:52similar again, there's no second thought
00:20:57you know in Sirachi's head there, he wants to put it into a dangerous area
00:21:01that time Johnny Kenny I think had just crept offside
00:21:04there's an immediate intent here in the first four or five minutes
00:21:09still chance for Celtic, edge of the area, Engels is there
00:21:17but Rangers win it back
00:21:18and the referee's blowing flags up on the far side for offside
00:21:27Rangers up to the half way line, De Milo
00:21:36Celtic repressed, the Rangers defence now, Jigga back to
00:21:41Buckland
00:21:43and it's here from the Celtic supporters
00:21:48Buckland's just kicked up one straight out of play, midway inside
00:21:52the Rangers half, Celtic have a throw in on the left-hand side
00:21:56Scales now
00:22:00back to the American trusty
00:22:04out to Sirachi
00:22:10and a lot of joy down this left-hand side
00:22:12and a half pass to Tinecki but just runs out of pitch
00:22:16and that will be a throw to Rangers
00:22:18followed by Tavernier, Sirachi wins the header, Migrant, Tinecki, Aiwon
00:22:26inside, header forward as William Scales chasing back
00:22:45back to Kasper Schmeichel who brings that one down
00:22:51outfield player and plays a lovely pass through the middle
00:22:55to Ralston, switches the play out to the left-hand side
00:22:58Sarachi inside to Scales, ahead of him is Meaglen
00:23:02now Sarachi again runs into the scales
00:23:04but shows too much of that one to Tavernier
00:23:06the Rangers win it back, Diomandi now just inside the Celtic half
00:23:10two Celtic players on Diomandi
00:23:12the referee has brought that one back, Diomandi pulled on the angles to the ground
00:23:17but the referee had already pulled that one back
00:23:19he had played the advantage to Rangers
00:23:21so it will be a Rangers free kick inside the centre circle
00:23:24Yeah I'm unsure about that one
00:23:26I need to say it again, he kind of broke to Engles and he was away
00:23:30he's a judge to have fouled him there
00:23:32there's not much in it, he certainly gets up and pulls Engles back
00:23:34but Rangers have got the foul
00:23:36Yeah, it's of a soft variety, shall we say
00:23:40James Tavernier over this one
00:23:43James Tavernier over this one
00:23:45just outside the centre circle
00:23:47Celtic lining up the defensive line
00:23:49about 22-23 yards from goal
00:23:54and it comes from Tavernier looking for the head of Suter
00:23:59but Maeda beats Suter to that
00:24:02Celtic can get this ball, they're on the break
00:24:04but Wildstone does get it forward
00:24:08but can't find a team mate
00:24:10Jigga
00:24:12and all the way back
00:24:14to Jack Butland
00:24:16from Magoma
00:24:18and he's on the right
00:24:19and he's on the left
00:24:20but he launches that one all the way through to his compatriot
00:24:24Jasper Schmeichert
00:24:26time for Rangers to press the Celtic defence
00:24:31It's time for Rangers to press the Celtic defence,
00:24:43Siracchi goes long though, header from Johnny Kenny,
00:24:46onto the chest of Sebastian Tenecki, back to Kenny, down he goes,
00:24:50referee on the spot to give the pre-kick against Raskin.
00:24:55Yeah, big responsibility, and Johnny Kenny again today leading the line,
00:24:59having the secure possession there, wins a foul that time.
00:25:06Engel's out to Ralston.
00:25:13McGregor looking for that one now, a chance for Dyson Maeda
00:25:17to use his pace down the right-hand side.
00:25:20He's won a corner for Celtic, well played, Dyson Maeda up against Cornelius,
00:25:26and he wins a corner kick.
00:25:28Yeah, a couple of times he's got himself into a dangerous position there,
00:25:30we all know Dyson Maeda's threat with the pace, his directness,
00:25:33if you can just keep that going.
00:25:35Short corner taken to McGregor.
00:25:38Ralston back to Arne Engels, goes for the cross, the ball, edge of the area,
00:25:43and a curl of air from Sebastian Tenecki.
00:25:47Too high there from the Tunisian, but that's the first attempt at goal,
00:25:51and it comes in the tenth minute.
00:25:53And it's a decent chance.
00:25:54You can see it all the way, Engels tries to pull this back,
00:25:57it evades everybody, it actually gets a touch off a Rangers player,
00:26:00and Tenecki sees it coming, you can see him just try to guide it back into that top corner,
00:26:04it's underneath it too much.
00:26:06Yeah, great opportunity, it came at him, bouncing perfectly,
00:26:11no Rangers player near him, with all the time to guide that one into the top corner,
00:26:16but just couldn't keep the ball down.
00:26:18And the Rangers coming forward down the left-hand side, running at the Celtic defence.
00:26:30At the back post comes in from James Cavernier,
00:26:33and it will be a goal kick to Celtic.
00:26:37Yeah, Rangers first forage forward McGomart,
00:26:39it's actually a decent ball he puts in after running half the length of the pitch,
00:26:44puts it into the back post,
00:26:46and it's the awareness of Siracchi,
00:26:48does enough just to affect the header from Tavernier.
00:26:51Ball breaks the way of Negrim now, first-time pass through to Tenecki,
00:26:56chases onto that down the left-hand side as Rangers try and get back in numbers,
00:27:00Tenecki coming in on a diagonal, back to Siracchi,
00:27:03cross in is a good one, and it's played away and out,
00:27:06on the far side, and in fact it's kept in.
00:27:10And forward Celtic looking good coming forward,
00:27:13playing the ball forward quickly,
00:27:14they may get another chance here with McGregor.
00:27:19Yeah, nice little link up again, we've seen it during the week,
00:27:21Siracchi and Tenecki on this left-hand side, decent bit of understanding.
00:27:26It's got a shot coming down edge of the area there,
00:27:31Johnny Kenny, it came back to him, and he's lost possession,
00:27:36here's Wildstone coming in with the challenge,
00:27:39but Asgard gets the better of him when he's up and he's over the halfway line,
00:27:42down the left-hand side.
00:27:44Still Asgard for Rangers, onto the right foot.
00:27:48Quite selfish from Asgard there, had players in but went for the shot.
00:27:53Straight into the hands of Kasper Schmeichel.
00:27:59Straight into the hands of Kasper Schmeichel.
00:28:04Could Robert Greer please contact the Enos police officer of Australia,
00:28:12so Robert Greer can put hold to the Enos police officer of Australia.
00:28:17That's Robert Greer.
00:28:19So, Celtic looking good coming forward.
00:28:22High ball forward for Dyson Maeda, flag is up there and it's got on the way of Celtic,
00:28:31well played, Dyson Maeda causing all sorts of trouble down that right-hand side.
00:28:36Yeah, and he's fed by Ralston again, and there's nothing complicated about it.
00:28:40You know he's going to take off, that time he wins the free kick in a decent area,
00:28:44sort of delivery into the box.
00:28:48So, free kick to Celtic.
00:28:52On the right-hand side, just about six yards or so in from the corner flag.
00:29:08It will be taken by the right foot, the left foot of Negrin, and it comes!
00:29:16Across to Tunecki.
00:29:18Back to it.
00:29:20Siracchi.
00:29:21To net kick.
00:29:23Quickly closed down, and Rangers do well to win possession back.
00:29:27But look who's tracking back, Dyson Maeda.
00:29:30Well, he's penalised there, the Celtic players and fans as one are not happy with the decision given by Nick Walsh, but Dyson Maeda.
00:29:38Give him a free kick, he's read the situation, used his body.
00:29:45Yeah, seemed a bit unfair there on Dyson Maeda, but...
00:29:47Good to see Dyson Maeda showing that commitment that we know him so well for.
00:29:56Yeah, he tracked him back there, Jerry, and as I said, the situation perfectly.
00:30:01Used his body, Nick Walsh.
00:30:05Besides, it's a free kick, another one on the soft variety.
00:30:09Ball play forward, but Anthony Ralston there, back to Kasper Schmeichel.
00:30:14Certainly not much to separate the sides, but Celtic playing with confidence in this opening 14 minutes, probably not much to separate the sides, but Celtic playing with confidence in this opening 14 minutes.
00:30:31Probably just ahead.
00:30:32I think Martin O'Neill will be happy with the start that Celtic have made, they've taken the game to Rangers more than the other way.
00:30:50They certainly are, that long pass here finds Tunetke again.
00:30:53Oh, Siracchi need to be on his toes there, in step Danilo to take that one from him, but they can't do it.
00:31:00Celtic win it back, McGregor takes the ball.
00:31:05Inside to Trusty.
00:31:09On the right-hand side is Engels.
00:31:13Scales now to Siracchi, 15 minutes gone, Celtic 0, Rangers 0, best chance for Celtic falling to it, Sebastian Tunetke.
00:31:28Trusty.
00:31:33Trusty. Scales inside to it, McGregor does really well under pressure there.
00:31:38As does Siracchi, now Tunetke.
00:31:41Scales.
00:31:44Trusty.
00:31:47Trusty.
00:31:48Trusty threads one through to Negrin.
00:31:59I'm sure Celtic would like to see Benjamin Negrin a little bit more involved.
00:32:04Such a creative player, likes to get involved in everything.
00:32:06Yeah, he has been a little bit quiet in the first quarter of the hour.
00:32:11Just trying to take up little areas in between the midfield and Johnny Kenny.
00:32:16Very effective on Wednesday evening.
00:32:19Good play from Celtic, Scales now through the middle.
00:32:26Johnny Kenny does really well, two touches to pick out Tunetke.
00:32:31Oh, the cross in from Tunetke, just too close to Jack Butlin, but that was great from Celtic, particularly William Scales and Johnny Kenny.
00:32:38Yeah, good linker. Scales takes his responsibility, breaks the lines, carrying the ball forward.
00:32:43Johnny Kenny with the awareness out to Tunetke, just couldn't get enough bend on the ball.
00:32:48I think Negrin was backing up as well.
00:32:50Celtic showing real purpose coming forward when they get the opportunities.
00:33:03Martin O'Neill out on the edge of the technical area, the Celtic tracksuit on, shouting instructions to his new charges.
00:33:10There's less hair on top, but the fire still burns underneath.
00:33:16100%. No comment on the hair.
00:33:21Listen, he's a fit guy for 73 years old, goodness me.
00:33:25They still get that two-footed jump when Celtic score, let's hope we see it this afternoon.
00:33:34Ralston goes on the decoy, Negan back to Engels.
00:33:39Nice to play the one-two there with Ralston, can he get on the end of this one, it comes off a Rangers player last.
00:33:44Ball stays in play.
00:33:48Celtic pressing well, Rangers get it up.
00:33:51Still in their own half.
00:33:53Ball breaks the way of Cermite, and brilliantly won back.
00:33:58Dyson Maeda is through on goal, and he's shot straight at Butland.
00:34:03Did he have time to take it in further?
00:34:05He does.
00:34:07What an opportunity that is for Dyson Maeda.
00:34:09Well saved by Butland in the end.
00:34:11Yeah, I think he's taking it too early.
00:34:13It's easy for us up here, Gerry.
00:34:14Great pressing from Shustic.
00:34:16And again from Celtic, brilliant pressing.
00:34:18This time Celtic win the free kick, they've really got the bit between the teeth here.
00:34:22Another chance as Celtic go into the area.
00:34:25Oh, and the ball's in the back of the net.
00:34:27It's an on goal as Celtic are ahead.
00:34:30The ball comes off the head of Nicholas Raskin, leaving Jack Butland completely stranded.
00:34:36It is the opening goal in the semi-final of the League Cup, and it's Celtic 1, Rangers 0.
00:34:43And this place is shaking.
00:34:45I don't know how it ends up in the net, but the directness of Celtic.
00:34:50The quick speed of thought from the captain with a quick free kick.
00:34:55We were already dwelling on the miss from Maeda.
00:34:59And I think it's an on goal of that man there, Nicholas Raskin.
00:35:06Yeah, they've given it to Negrin, but you see here Negrin attempts to pass,
00:35:09and it comes off the head of Raskin.
00:35:11Brilliantly taking quick free kick.
00:35:19It's the two Rangers players, it's a quick free kick here.
00:35:22Nice awareness, it's a lovely little ball in from Negrin.
00:35:25I'm just a bit concerned now, they're checking the goal for a possible offside,
00:35:29and I'm wondering whether Diza Maeda was.
00:35:32I don't think he is.
00:35:36I think he just keeps back onside.
00:35:38I think he's initially offside with the free kick, but he goes into Negrin.
00:35:41And when Negrin plays it to Maeda, I think he's onside.
00:35:44Will that count as a second phase?
00:35:48.
00:35:52.
00:35:53.
00:35:54.
00:35:55.
00:35:56.
00:35:57Pass goes to Negrin's feet, then it goes to Maeda.
00:36:04Yep, I think you're correct Simon, if the rules are what we think they are, Maeda was offside initially, but the goal stands!
00:36:15Oh he's giving offside!
00:36:20Well...
00:36:23...where they draw the line when it does come up, and if they draw the line at the original pass they've given it for that.
00:36:29Because they didn't look offside when Negrin played it forwards.
00:36:32Callum McGregor is making the pass to Negrin.
00:36:37...offside and the goal's disallowed.
00:36:43It all just adds to everything that has come into this fixture.
00:36:49There you go, how incredibly tight.
00:36:56Roll it forward a couple of frames.
00:37:00Here's Raskin, he'll be breathing a sigh of relief, not that he could have done anything about that when it was fired at him at close quarters.
00:37:11But the rules are the rules in terms of offside, I've got my issues with offside rule in general, we were talking about this earlier in fact, weren't we?
00:37:20But...
00:37:22Wings have eventually shown us there that the heel is offside, and it is a big reprieve for Rangers because you just get a sense that Celtic's starting to up the intensity.
00:37:33The chance before from Maeda, good quick play from Celtic, Maeda's through on goals and I just think he could have taken an extra touch.
00:37:42Asgard, Diamande through, Chimiti!
00:37:47Oh, wide it goes! From point blank range, it was so well worked by Rangers and it just needed the finishing touch.
00:37:56Is it not just, this is brilliant play from Rangers, it really is. Linker, look at this ball from Diamande, inch perfect.
00:38:03He's got to score, simple as that Rory, he has got to score.
00:38:07I mean, that's a guilt-edged opportunity, no wonder Danny Rule is looking at the skies there.
00:38:14Youssef Chimiti, the big money signing.
00:38:17A feeling that perhaps he's starting to settle in a little bit in the last few games, but...
00:38:22That is a huge chance from a player who's got a huge transfer fee on his head.
00:38:29In these big games, you're looking for him to come up with the big moments and he's missed one there.
00:38:34Great play though, from Rangers. Good, quick, inventive play, higher up the park.
00:38:49Well, it's been quite the opening quarter, that's a heavy touch.
00:38:52From Danilo, Callum McGregor, Negrin, Johnny Kenny, just too far in front of McGregor.
00:39:03Well read by Trusty, and it's Diamande that comes away with it, Celtic a man down at the back.
00:39:17But what a challenge from Ralston.
00:39:20Now in flies Cornelius, the card is out for the Canadian.
00:39:26Well it looks like a sore one, but I just think it's a classic modern day tackle that you just can't get away with.
00:39:36Taken too long, you know it's a sore one, he actually dives in it.
00:39:41Gets the ball and follows through. As I said, this is a modern day tackle, you cannot get away with that.
00:39:49Gets plenty of the ball, but the studs are right through on Johnny Kenny's boot.
00:39:55He was taking too long though, the front man, he took too many touches.
00:40:01We've seen on a couple of occasions already though, Austin Trusty, very quick, stepping in.
00:40:07Stepping in and winning the ball and counting, I mean that's where I think the Maeda chance originally came from. Good play.
00:40:14He's had to go short, change the angle now, Negrim from the edge, had to use the outside of his boot and it forces the corner.
00:40:23One, two, three, two, one, three, two, one, three, two, one, three, two, one, three, one, three, two, one!
00:40:45Arne Engels to take for Celtic.
00:40:48One, three, two, one!
00:40:51And the header!
00:40:52this time it'll count and it's johnny kenny with a cracker
00:40:59step forward johnny kenny from county sligo
00:41:06the bullet header and Celtic lead
00:41:14what a header that is he just holds off
00:41:19magouma angles it perfectly into that far corner
00:41:24it's past butlin before he can react but i tell you what it's a wonderful corner as well from arnie engels
00:41:31there's two players that on the periphery
00:41:36now well and truly at the forefront of this
00:41:39Celtic team johnny kenny's having to lead the line and that is a moment
00:41:44he will never forget that's a great header
00:41:49what a moment for johnny kenny
00:41:57this fifth goal for celtic and it's just this 19th game
00:42:02he's forced his way into the starting lineup
00:42:05and he's had an impact even before that
00:42:10he got pulled back by tunectic
00:42:15there's magouma forward but ralston is in hand kenny
00:42:22well rangers are definitely rocking you can see the intensity from celtic is
00:42:27such stark contrast of what we saw at the back end of brendan rogers time
00:42:33a new voice experienced voice and martin o'neil has clearly just
00:42:40reset the site
00:42:41he's snapping into everything
00:42:45diamondi rangers have two four here danilo won't be able to catch up with that
00:42:53for danny rule and his men they've just got to keep themselves calm
00:43:02because certainly in the opening stages here they've been in large parts having to just soak
00:43:10up a bit of pressure from celtic you think back to that chance from cermite it's huge
00:43:16you know these are the moments that change and really
00:43:25they set the direction of a game and i'm not sure rangers can afford to be missing chances like that
00:43:33in a game so big so early in danny road's tenure
00:43:38big task for danny roll
00:43:48going to let's try and turn the flow of this game because
00:43:53celtic have been well worthy of their lead apart from that huge opportunity for
00:43:57use of chermity it's won by engels now mcgregor out to mayda and kenny going wide
00:44:05mind is in the middle he's making up incredible ground kenny's still going kenny brings out the
00:44:10best in dutland
00:44:13well celtic's tails are well and truly up johnny kenny i think he gets a little bit fortunate with
00:44:18the ball ricocheting back into his pad but the whole team's full of running
00:44:25it's a good strike you've got to say forcing the goalkeeper into a smart save
00:44:29maeda was bust and i got through the middle as well but you see whenever rangers have got the ball
00:44:36in possession celtic are hounding them that's an intensity we haven't seen for from celtic for a long
00:44:44long time the rangers have already been warned the quality from engels is looking into that same area
00:44:53once more as well sends it high into the air
00:45:00maeda just colliding with butland and the rangers free kick but even still i'm not sure why jack but
00:45:07has thrown that ball to james tabernier because maeda bumping into him wasn't changing the fact that
00:45:12tinecti was about to shut down with nowhere to go
00:45:27raskan's barely been able to get a kick of the ball
00:45:31the rangers have not really been able to build any phases of play so far
00:45:35danilo oh what a ball that is raskan will get a touch here nico raskan but so too does casper schmeichel
00:45:47there you go here's another guilt edge chance what a pass that is from danilo
00:45:52raskan barely had a kick as we were talking about but then he's got the opportunity to draw his side level
00:45:59he's trying to go near post there it's a smart save from schmeichel outstretched leg
00:46:09things could have just flipped and turned so quickly there
00:46:14ranger's starting to exert some pressure with a corner kick that james tabernier swings in
00:46:19it's liam scales who commands the header and now maeda he will burn away from danilo
00:46:26and now he needs some help
00:46:31well fair play to danilo for going all the way back with tyson maeda
00:46:37absolutely that's off to danilo because it really did look as if he was dead and buried originally
00:46:44when maeda got past him he kept at it the brazilian
00:46:49going into another part that really doesn't want to be just wondered when maeda originally got past them
00:46:57he should have come across him continued his move forward
00:47:03the goal now blocked off and runs the pre-kick
00:47:06the last couple of minutes rangers just getting a little bit further up the park
00:47:22opportunities to put a bit of pressure on the celtic back line
00:47:36james tabernieri turned 34 on friday
00:47:44he's played in so many of these games
00:47:47there's only 10 of them for 42
00:47:50oh it's a dangerous ball in towards cermiti
00:48:05it looks like there's no touch
00:48:07you look at the setup he's completely free around the back again he misses the ball
00:48:13cermiti that's a huge chance he's got a free run at it you could see it as it was setting up he was
00:48:20around the back completely free
00:48:22so actually was the one that was furthest back there but he wasn't really aware of where the striker was and the ball's in at the back post
00:48:33he just misses i appreciate the defenders coming in there but he's got to be aggressive and go and win that
00:48:38he's gonna stick it in the back from two yards out
00:48:44you see it's actually engel through in the back
00:48:51before he gets it comes off his shin that's poor really poor
00:48:59danny roll point to the two chances huge opportunities for use of cermiti one for nico raska
00:49:09they've closed chica down very well celtic you know whenever he's had the ball he's had few options and not looked comfortable at all
00:49:20Arkansas stay against Asgard
00:49:24as well as he's turned to win a free kick
00:49:30it just puts the shoulder in a little bit a little bit late a little bit of frustration
00:49:39it's having all action isn't it plenty of incident as well
00:49:52it's tavernier
00:49:54Asgard
00:49:56Diamande
00:49:57out to Magoma
00:49:59the first time ball in towards Danilo and they were a schmeichel
00:50:09chances and incident galore amazing to think the 90 minutes that they play down at ibrox just at the end of
00:50:19august two new men in the dugout
00:50:23two completely different approaches to the game there's kenny trying to help that through to tenekty
00:50:29we've spoken a lot about rangers to change system trying to get greater security at the back they've looked shaky
00:50:43defensively i've got to say they've not looked secure
00:50:47i think in large part because celtic have been very good out of possession
00:50:51they've not allowed rangers to find any comfortable ball and knock it around they've been closing them down
00:50:57very quickly forcing them into areas like here
00:51:01where they've not got many options once it goes to giga closing off that center midfield
00:51:05forcing them back it allows them to get on the front foot too many backward passes from rangers
00:51:11asgard applying some pressure then smash forward by ralson it could be a good one for tenekty who
00:51:26does keep it in he's away from giga who slid in
00:51:30and has to up tavern here to bail him out
00:51:32i mean he's diving into that first of all he's slow to react with a ball over his head
00:51:41and then he's diving in last ditch stuff when it never really looked like he was going to be able
00:51:46to get enough of it unfortunately for him he's captain's back in to close it off
00:51:57legrin's mounting a short one here but
00:52:00angles he's going to reassess his options
00:52:07who will be a target in that six yard box
00:52:12running angles to now whip in the in-swinger
00:52:17the belgian takes
00:52:18the corner will become a free kick and an angle to work with here for celtic
00:52:32that's another good corner from angles difficult to defend
00:52:36then he picks up that loose ball
00:52:39danilo has been forced back into that position on a few occasions
00:52:44just second best not able to get there in front of the belgian
00:52:52you don't want to be given too many of these set pieces away because you get the sense that angles
00:52:56has got his eye in
00:53:03celtic have already profited from one set play
00:53:07angles to line this one up
00:53:21arney angles it just needs a touch doesn't get one negrin was closest
00:53:27yeah very close
00:53:28jack butland will be very relieved that benjamin negrin did not get a touch
00:53:34well as asgard looks to turn this into attack austin trusty just slowly getting back into
00:53:41position he stayed down in the box chermiti wins the header
00:53:47so actually did well
00:53:50as guard
00:53:51and then asgard goes high on ralston and it's the red card for tello asgard
00:54:00nick wall straight across
00:54:07anthony ralston remains laid out on the turf rangers a goal down now a man down
00:54:16as the norwegian dangerously went into the challenge and nick waltz did not hesitate
00:54:28well your initial reaction is that you can see it's a sore one there's a lot of force but
00:54:33i've got some sympathy for asgard because he's just turning
00:54:36he's only you know he's only turning spinning round happens so quickly yeah i mean look he's caught on
00:54:48plenty force high up on the thigh you can understand why the referee is
00:54:54has given the the red card but i don't there's no malice in that from the rangers man
00:55:00he's having to spin balls over his head it happens so quickly i can understand why the
00:55:07the rangers player is trying to challenge like that but
00:55:10nowadays modern football you can see i think was a bit of blood on
00:55:14anthony ralston as well well it's a rip and you can see it's a sore one
00:55:20understandable red card but i don't think it was a malicious tackle
00:55:23and there's a no worry it really is a tough task for for rangers they're down to 10 men
00:55:32they've not really been able to get a foothold of the the game and in possession they're having to
00:55:37do a lot of work out of it now they're down to 10 men well the battle scars on anthony ralston
00:55:45leaving rangers in all sorts of trouble tello asgard wanders up the handon park tunnel
00:56:05is made up one to his angles was taken out for the free kicks been given has made a burst onto that
00:56:12neither side happy with this it's all breaking out between raskan and diamonde and ralston
00:56:24you know rangers just need to keep their head it's a free kick i don't think there's any doubt
00:56:30let's understand the ball's gone out for a shy so you can totally understand why the
00:56:37referee's pulled it back for a free kick but tempers fraying slightly and for danny rule on his ranger
00:56:44side they've got to keep clear heads here they're the ones that they're one they'll do they're down to
00:56:4810 men they've got to have greater clarity in the play at the moment it's just a little bit too ragged
00:56:56at halftime i'm sure the manager will be desperate to get in just one nil down and try and
00:57:03reset and calm things down major test for danny rulers celtic sensing blood here
00:57:10ralston delivers away by raskan only as far as tunicty
00:57:19trusty with the one two back to the tunisian it's tavernier there's a big role to play once again as
00:57:25ranger skipper with them in all sorts of bother you just see little things like that like the
00:57:32balls out the desire as austin trusty he's just picking it up quick thrones it's something we've
00:57:39seen you know over the years from celtic but there is no doubt that that edge had drifted out their game
00:57:44recently they're wanting to get the tempo of this game high and keep right at it don't give rangers any
00:57:53moment to rest
00:58:00ralston negrin couldn't quite take it but he has managed kenny between negrin and kenny they didn't
00:58:09quite get the communication right and johnny kenny's so frustrated here but the ball from ralston's
00:58:15not the best he's got to leave that for kenny you know it's a difficult one for negrin he's stretching
00:58:21all the way but kenny's coming on it i've got to say rory though rangers defensively are all over the
00:58:31place on the kdm evolution evolution trophy it's east cobride against celtic b tuesday the 11th of
00:58:37remember premier sports one and then a couple of offerings in the premiership to come dundee united
00:58:43against rangers that's wednesday the third of december and motherwell celtic the 30th of december
00:58:49that's a tuesday evening in premier sports
00:58:53a couple of minutes left of what would have been
00:59:10such an intriguing such an intense opening hand to this premier sports cup semi-final but that's what
00:59:15celtic have done so well they've basically gone with a front three right up against strangers back
00:59:22three when they've had the ball rangers and then one of the midfielders has gone touch tight on
00:59:28rasgan and they've not had a pass has forced them back all the way
00:59:32so it's a completely different look to this side than what we've seen
00:59:46you have to say since january in munich
00:59:54again the rangers defensive header just goes straight to a celtic player if you're a rangers fan
01:00:10inside hampden park you are not happy with the first half here trusty for celtic now sarachi
01:00:20to net kick knee grind inside to sarachi too much for the uruguayne to do though and it's launched
01:00:30upfield onto the chest of chermite down to danilo chermite again cuts inside free kick
01:00:43every celtic player giving it a hundred percent out there yeah it's been a really good first half
01:00:47energized aggressive intent there everything that you'd want from the celtic team hungry with it
01:00:56taking a really good chance of another chances as well fourth official comes out with his board to tell
01:01:03us how many minutes will be added as the free kick comes in from james tavernier and is defended well
01:01:07from celtic ball played forward there by dyson maeda just didn't have enough power on that johnny kenny was
01:01:13there for a rangers through raskin against mcgregor rangers have it in the middle of the park
01:01:21there will be an additional two minutes of which we are about to start
01:01:30raskin against magoma dyson maeda back helping out raskin as well and it's out for a rangers throw
01:01:37quickly taking raskin maeda brilliant from dyson maeda oh he's penalized there for the challenge
01:01:44on raskin and sometimes it's becoming a non-contact sport just about to say they're almost at the
01:01:50stage where you can't tackle anymore does it come through the back of them maybe that's the argument
01:01:54the referee but it's another soft one yeah there's been a couple of them it sounds like
01:02:00have been penalized for in the first half which looks like it's going to end with a free kick
01:02:10to rangers on the left hand side tavernier across this one
01:02:14celtic holding that high defensive line and it comes from tavernier that's much too close
01:02:19to kasper schmeichel good delivery there from schmeichel to negrin now and celtic are up in the
01:02:28rangers half already johnny kenny's screaming for it space still for negrin to run into gives it to
01:02:34tenecki tenecki cuts inside still tenecki almost to poke that into the path of arnie engels and it's
01:02:41out for another celtic corner and it's a really good break negrin carrying the ball
01:02:46playing it out to tenecki and it's a quick feat we see it time and time again he likes to walk
01:02:52his way in the park here skips between the two rangers players last chance of the first half then
01:02:59will fall to celtic and arnie engels corner what would you give for a second goal now
01:03:05it'll be the in swinger from engels
01:03:20and it comes near post header up in the air comes down in the edge of the area butland comes out two
01:03:26celtic players there and the rangers goalkeeper on top of that one yellow card given to austin trusty
01:03:36well rangers players think they can take advantage and try and get the yellow upgraded but there was
01:03:42really nothing in that from trusty is to every right to go for that one i'm not even sure it should
01:03:46have been a yellow i thought if anything it was the player i thought johnny kenny maybe made contact
01:03:58perhaps just leaving his leg in there a little bit
01:04:03but that's for yourself you just need to be careful because rangers now will look to any sort of
01:04:07opportunity to try and level up yeah as you do they need to keep their heads to say the extra man is
01:04:13vital they've had a really good first half you could capitalize on that in the second half
01:04:19they keep playing with the same aggression well whatever martin o'neil said to the boys
01:04:24before the match has worked he will have another 15 minutes with them very shortly
01:04:29celtic are halfway to the league cup final
01:04:35but still a lot of work to do as the referee blows
01:04:39for the end of this first half and it's the celtic supporters who rise to their feet
01:04:43and applaud their team off the pitch martin o'neil is back in temporary charge
01:04:51but whatever he's saying to these boys is working they are playing with a passion
01:04:55and a commitment and a directness that has them ahead at half time celtic thought they had gone ahead
01:05:01after an own goal from nicholas raskin but that one was ruled out by var for
01:05:05the smallest of offside decisions celtic did take the lead though when arne engel's corner was headed
01:05:11past jack butland by johnny kenney below asgard was then sent off for a high studded challenge
01:05:17into the midriff of anthony ralston celtic deserving of their lead at half time we can't wait for the
01:05:23second half here in the league cup semi-final at hamden park at half time that is celtic 1 rangers 0
01:05:35thompson again
01:05:41thompson again
01:05:43it's a vicious looking right off the bar
01:05:45and that's it
01:05:49vega comes up there gets his head to it
01:05:56and sutton puts the ball in the back of the net
01:05:58the south again erupts
01:06:05good work by vega initially
01:06:07there's the header up the bar and sutton nobody covering him
01:06:11celtica one up
01:06:13that's typical celtic this season
01:06:15archie a real physical treasure
01:06:19probably the biggest guy in the side
01:06:21gets up well gets the header off the crossbar
01:06:23close actually got a touch to it
01:06:25but that's a magnificent finish
01:06:26but he's falling backwards and he still manages to keep the ball down
01:06:35there's mccann
01:06:41and he has to fight back for a pre-kick
01:06:45well rather symptomatic of the way rangers have been playing
01:06:49getting themselves into a maze
01:06:52and confused and here was mccann giving away ridiculously
01:07:01the difference here was robert
01:07:03malcolm taking the ball forward into the celtic territory
01:07:07and finding barry ferguson a good pass
01:07:09well there's i think whatever he is saying that's the second goal
01:07:13larson follows through and gets a second goal
01:07:19as a youngster robert malcolm was left stranded there on his own
01:07:23against the most lethal attacker in the united kingdom
01:07:29and he got in such a tangle perfectly correct decision by the referee
01:07:34well he could have busted out at the end there but all he needed to do was take it there
01:07:42and then touch it in
01:07:45rangers walkway exposed in defense
01:07:49when we spoke about henry lasher's work rate i think there we talk about his determination
01:07:54and then his composure just to have the presence of mind to love it over across his head he knows he's got all the time in order to put it into the internet
01:08:00he's touched away by milby this time
01:08:09malcolm is up
01:08:12and a penalty given i think wilson brought down penalty to rangers the Celtic players are complaining
01:08:22there was a pool as uh willie young was demonstrating there
01:08:26and such a tangle of players
01:08:33now vega was in and i mean now he raised his hands in innocence there
01:08:36buddy
01:08:39we see the replay actually it's one of those ones that the referee's right on the spot and he decides a penalty
01:08:45and rangers are back in this game
01:08:57much to the annoyance of gold
01:09:00and are the rangers supportive something at long last to cheer about
01:09:05now they had a lot of position before this
01:09:07there's wilson getting away with it
01:09:25penalty awarded
01:09:26a penalty awarded for that challenge by wilson
01:09:33then it goes there and he's leaning into him
01:09:37and the referee has awarded the penalty for that
01:09:41larson burrowing his way in there
01:09:44yeah wilson putting the body right across him
01:09:47i think it was a penalty i think it's very reminiscent of the penalty that henry lasher won over in
01:09:51bordeaux and it's really that anticipation and electric quickness in the penalty blocks just to get in front of the defender scott wilson didn't see him coming he's committed to to go for the ball and it's resulted in the penalty to serve it
01:10:05and i think there's going to be uh well certainly the goalkeepers then getting it
01:10:13so stephen klaus gets a yellow card for that
01:10:21stephen klaus good for that
01:10:30and the ball is lying away behind the the goal line
01:10:37almost considerably alberts goes after it
01:10:40gets it back into the box
01:10:43i think it's one of those situations is it is a penalty taker you don't want to
01:10:48stand about wait too long it might have been a better for one of his teammates to
01:10:52retrieve the ball there and give henry lasso time to make up his mind what he's going to do
01:10:58and this could put it beyond ranges at this stage in the game
01:11:02and he's going he's going for power and accuracy he's kept it down low stephen klaus has guessed the wrong way
01:11:24well there's a really hard tackle again
01:11:47and they're going in heavy and they've lost a temper oh there's another push by lenin and it's ending
01:11:56disgracefully this it really is
01:12:02you wouldn't believe that some people said this this this game was meaningless to these two sets of players
01:12:07well there's the rather dramatic and untidy evidence
01:12:12it's started by that desperate tackle by reyna who's been set off
01:12:20and what else is happening here has the referee finished
01:12:24there he is making his way like a predator towards the man
01:12:37and counsel for the defense michael moles wasn't listened to
01:12:40so two players off and michael moles is off
01:12:50michael moles is off as well but i have to say it's a final that has left bad taste in the mouth
01:12:58identifying scenes ecstasy for that support there but for anybody wishing this game to aspire to
01:13:06the greatness badly marred at the end by lack of discipline
01:13:11and stephen cross is an old mate
01:13:15from the borussia
01:13:20the aggravation of the borussia through the game
01:13:34and the
01:13:48celtic uranovic now on the left-hand side is jota
01:13:52and the revelations in signing he knows he can shoot
01:13:55that one curls kiyoko just left that he knew he was in an offside position
01:13:59and jota just unable to get enough curl on the ball
01:14:02yep that's what he's good at being able to drive in
01:14:05as a right-footed player but he would have come in there
01:14:07maybe trying to find a net but just working out his range early on
01:14:10giving away straight to kiyoko
01:14:23now abada who can he find across the jota takes a touch back onto his right foot
01:14:30oh lovely tom there by jota oh they're a bona for the cross and a chance in the box and it's
01:14:35scrambled away by the st johnson defense well bertie olga i love that that is entertainment
01:14:41that was sensational from jaw to the skill to be good down this uh left-hand side and also that
01:14:48across the bonus you called it jerry absolutely superb just deserved a goal
01:15:05and it is the straight swap that we expected james forrest coming on for niel abada
01:15:19a bit of a miss hit there from zander clark if jota can bring this down and he can
01:15:34and selting have got men forward jota into the penalty area is it broken for forrest
01:15:49what an impact to this game this man has just had
01:15:54when we needed someone to step up and get on the end of a chance james forrest does exactly that
01:16:01but of credit to the manager and what a substitution that he's made it's 70 odd minutes into the game
01:16:08and it's what you wanted from james to come in the first time the ball has fallen for us inside the
01:16:15box an advantage area where there's not too many players around him and he's done ever so well poor
01:16:21clearance from the world's from zander clark james forrest and the right place at the right time and
01:16:27that's a huge left opening and johnson will have to come out and we'll get other opportunities now
01:16:34that's all for us to come out and that's all for us to come out and i want another one
