00:00Welcome to the new video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:04Today, we're all about the uncompromising off-road powerhouse from Great Britain,
00:08the Enos Grenadier Quartermaster.
00:13This vehicle isn't just a pickup truck,
00:15it's a statement for anyone who drives off-road and for whom no challenge is too big.
00:22The Quartermaster is the second offering from the still young Enos brand,
00:25which is poised to become a real heavyweight in the world of off-road vehicles.
00:30After the original Enos Grenade was already celebrated as the legitimate successor
00:36to the classic Land Rover Defender,
00:38the Quartermaster brings the same robust technology to an even more versatile body style
00:43as a washed-out pickup with a double cab and a British engine.
00:48The story behind the vehicle is just as interesting as the product itself.
00:54When Sir Jim Radcliffe, British billionaire and founder of Enos,
00:57was denied a license to continue building his beloved Defender in 2016,
01:02he decided to reinvent the vehicle concept without further ado.
01:06The result? An off-road vehicle with a classic look, but with modern technology.
01:12Since the beginning of 2023,
01:15the Grenadier has been manufactured in the former smart plant in Hombok, France,
01:19including the acquired production facilities and workforce.
01:22The vehicle was developed in close cooperation with the Austrian specialist Magner Steyr.
01:29The Grenadier already enjoys an excellent reputation among off-road enthusiasts
01:33because it is built like a tool.
01:36Robust, durable and incompromisingly capable off-road.
01:39The Quartermaster takes this up a notch with a striking ladder frame,
01:44rigid axles at the front and rear,
01:46and mechanical differential locks that ensure maximum traction.
01:52Under the hood, there is either a diesel engine with 249 horsepower and 550 newton meters
01:58or a more refined petrol engine with 286 horsepower and 450 newton meters of torque.
02:06Both six-cylinder inline engines come from BMW
02:08and are coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.
02:13Anyone who likes towing heavy equipment will be pleased with the towing capacity of three and a half tons.
02:19Ideal for forestry workers, emergency services or adventure travelers
02:23who regularly travel in difficult terrain.
02:25The loading area is designed for Euro-palette and can handle a payload of around 800 kg.
02:33For an additional charge, the load can be secured with a lockable metal roller blind or a canvy stop.
02:40With a length of around 5.4 meters,
02:43the Quartermaster is a good 55 centimeters longer than the station Welgin,
02:47which makes it more on par with a transport container in terms of maneuverability.
02:51It is around 2 meters wide and around 2 meters high.
02:55The wheelbase measures around 3.1 meters.
03:02Values that underline its presence on the road and emphasize its off-road capabilities.
03:08Despite its massive dimensions,
03:10the Quartermaster has surprisingly comfortable suspension thanks to its longer wheelbase,
03:15at least when compared to the expectations one would have
03:17of an almost 3-ton off-road truck with rigid axle geometry.
03:22The fact that an air suspension was never considered speaks volumes for the uncompromising claim to absolute reliability,
03:29even under extreme conditions.
03:32Inside, the driver is greeted by a cockpit that is more reminiscent of an aircraft than a modern SUV.
03:37Large toggle switches, robust rotary controls and a clearly arranged switch panel above the head leave no doubt that this is all about functionality, not lifestyle.
03:48The center console is tidy, the multimedia system reduced to the essentials and the floor covering can be easily cleaned with a hose after a muddy drive.
04:01Practicality is the top priority.
04:04There is also space for passengers in the back.
04:06However, comfort has been sacrificed in favor of cargo space.
04:12The fixed partition behind the rear seats means that the backrests are quite steep and the footwell is around 8 centimeters smaller than in the station wagon.
04:20In practice, the Quartermaster shows what it is capable of.
04:24With a center differential, low gearing and locks on the front and rear axles, it can climb even the steepest slopes.
04:31The diesel engine in particular impresses with its higher torque, while the petrol engine is a bit more refined.
04:39However, the latter consumes around 15L per 100 kilometers on average, around 4L more than a diesel counterpart.
04:47Both versions start at around 73,000 euros.
04:53Anyone interested in the slightly better equipped Trailmaster or Fieldmaster edition should budget around 82,000 euros.
05:01There are hardly any upper limits to the price, because the list of customization options is as long as it is tempting.
05:08Paint finishes, superstructures, protective devices, technical upgrades.
05:13The Quartermaster can be configured exactly as desired.
05:17The bottom line is that the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster is more than just another utility vehicle.
05:22It is the uncompromising answer to a gap in the market that vehicles such as the Jeep Gladiator or the Ford Ranger Raptor have only been able to fill in completely so far.
05:32Anyone who has to go off-road, is not satisfied with half-baked SUV comfort solutions and is looking for a work tool that will not give up even in the toughest conditions will find a vehicle here that is as robust as its reputation.
