00:00Welcome to the video of the Car Magazine Tuning Blog, where today we will be talking about the all-electric Evatara from Maruti Suzuki, whose production start has been slowed down by an unexpected problem.
00:12The manufacturer has announced that it will significantly reduce its originally ambitious production target for the first phase due to supply bottlenecks for rare earth metals, which are essential for the production of the engine and drive components installed in the EVITAR.
00:30The background to this is that China has restricted the export of these strategically important raw materials, which has forced Maruti Suzuki to reduce the planned number of units between April and September from well over 26,000 vehicles to just over 8,000.
00:47This corresponds to a decline of almost 70% and is likely to significantly limit availability at market launch.
00:55Nevertheless, the group is sticking to its long-term goal of building around 67,000 units in the 2026 financial year, which it plans to achieve by increasing production in the second half of the period.
01:08Between October 2025 and March 2026, the company plans to produce almost 59,000 vehicles instead of just over 40,000, which will be exported primarily to Europe and Japan.
01:23In Europe, the EVITAR will be offered in three versions, standard range with front-wheel drive, long-range also with front-wheel drive, and long-range with all-wheel drive.
01:36The basic version has a 106 kilowatts engine with 193 newton-meters of torque.
01:44The mid-range version has 128 kilowatts with the same torque, while the top version with two engines has a total of 135 kilowatts and a combined 307 newton-meters.
01:56The standard FBD has a 49 kilowatts-per-hour LFP battery for a WLTP range of around 350 kilometers.
02:07The long-range versions use a 61 kilowatts-per-hour battery for almost 430 kilometers FWD or up to around 410 kilometers ad.
02:17Suzuki will only announce prices shortly before the market launch in the fall, with industry insiders assuming starting prices of around 30,000 euros for the basic version.
