00:00Welcome to the video from the CarMagazine Tuning Blog on the topic of comparing the Nissan Micra to the Peugeot 208.
00:08Please note that our comparison is not a real direct comparison, but only a virtual comparison.
00:15The vehicles in the video are sample vehicles for visual representation.
00:20In the exciting duel of the small cars,
00:26the new Nissan Micra will see a well-known name meet an established favorite in the segment, the Peugeot 208.
00:33The Micra, which is set to be launched as a pure electric car in its sixth generation at the end of 2025,
00:39will then have to assert itself against popular competitors, including the Peugeot 208,
00:43which has been extremely successful in Europe,
00:46the second generation of which has been on the road since 2019 and received a comprehensive facelift in 2023.
00:52In terms of their dimensions, the two vehicles are on par.
00:59While the Peugeot 208 is just over 4 meters long, the Micra is slightly shorter.
01:07The wheelbase of both vehicles measures 2.5 meters each,
01:11but the Nissan appears more voluminous due to its greater width and height.
01:16This is also due to its striking 18-inch alloy wheels, which make it appear more massive than the Peugeot,
01:22which is equipped with wheels between 16 and 17 inches.
01:27Visually, the Micra plays with rounded shapes and a striking lighting signature
01:31that is intended to be reminiscent of earlier model generations.
01:35In contrast, the 208 relies on its familiar LED light claws,
01:40which are prominently used both at the front and rear.
01:43Both vehicles bear the brand's signature lettering on the tailgate.
01:48The influence of the Renault Group is clearly evident in the interior of the Nissan Micra.
01:53The cockpit is very reminiscent of the Renault 5 with a continuous digital panel,
01:59which consists of a 7 or 10.1-inch infotainment screen and instrument cluster, depending on the equipment.
02:05A special feature of the Micra is the positioning of the gearshift lever directly on the steering wheel,
02:12which creates space on the center console for additional storage space.
02:16The three-spoke design with touch controls fits in with the modern interior design,
02:22which is rounded off by upholstered surfaces in the visible area and simpler plastic materials in the lower areas.
02:28The boot holds at least around 330L and can be expanded to over 1,100L by folding down the rear seat backrests.
02:38The Peugeot 208 sticks to tried and tested operating concepts.
02:43The so-called E-cockpit combines a very small steering wheel with high-positioned instruments.
02:49Depending on the equipment, there are also digital displays up to 10 inches in size,
02:56as well as a central touchscreen and the characteristic piano keys for the air conditioning controls.
03:04The gear selector lever remains in the classic center console.
03:08Despite the traditional layout, there is no shortage of storage compartments.
03:13The luggage compartment of the E208 is just over 300L.
03:17The petrol and hybrid models have around 350L.
03:21Here too, the folding rear seats result in a maximum loading volume of around 1,100 to 1,170L, depending on the variant.
03:31Both vehicles use a similar concept for their electric drive.
03:35Electric motor at the front with front-wheel drive
03:38The Nissan Micra offers two power levels.
03:42The entry-level version delivers 122hp in conjunction with a 40kWh battery,
03:49which should be sufficient for a range of around 300km according to the WLTP cycle.
03:54The more powerful version has 156hp and is combined with a 52kWh battery.
04:02This allows for a range of over 400km.
04:06The Puyo 208 is similarly set up.
04:09The basic model delivers 136hp, powered by a 50kWh battery and a range of up to around 360km.
04:18Here too, there is a more powerful version with 156hp and a 51kWh battery, which should achieve up to 430km.
04:30The French small car is also available with two conventional drive variants.
04:39A three-cylinder petrol engine with 101hp and a mild hybrid based on 48V with 110 or 145hp.
04:47Both use a 1.2L petrol engine, thus complementing the versatile range of the PGO 208.
04:57In terms of price, the new Nissan micro will probably be based on the Renault 5,
05:02whose base price is around 27,000 euros.
05:08This would put the micro below the price of the all-electric Pog 208, which starts at around 36,500 euros.
05:17The French manufacturer's hybrid variant is just under 27,000 euros, while the petrol version starts at around 23,000 euros.
