00:09The Lexus Electric SUV RZ is getting a comprehensive overhaul for the coming model year,
00:14which not only brings increased performance but also new technical innovations.
00:21Particularly striking are the new drive variants with up to 408hp and the steer-by-wire steering
00:26system, which does not require a mechanical connection between the steering wheel and
00:30the front wheels. The battery electric system of the Air-Z has been fundamentally optimized
00:36to further improve everyday suitability and driving pleasure.
00:43One of the most important changes is the introduction of a new e-axle,
00:46which brings improved motor performance, more efficient inverter technology and reduced energy
00:51losses. In addition, the 2025 model year features a new lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 77.0
01:01kWh, which ensures an increased range. The higher battery performance is due to a larger number
01:10of battery cells and their optimized arrangement. This also means that the electric motors benefit
01:16from an increase in performance. The revised model range includes the RZ-E with 224hp, the RZ-500E with
01:24300a horsepower, and the new top variant, the RZ-550E F-Sport with 408hp.
01:32In addition to increased performance, the F-Sport offers a particularly dynamic design,
01:37a sportier interior concept, and a specially tuned chassis.
01:41It also features a simulated 8-speed transmission, with gears being shifted using paddles on the
01:47steering wheel. Another innovation concerns the maximum towing capacity.
01:54The all-wheel drive RZ can now tow up to 1,100 kg, which is double that of the previous model.
02:02The range also benefits from the technical innovations. Thanks to the optimized drive
02:07technology and the new battery, it increases by up to 100 km. In addition, a new 22kW onboard charger
02:15reduces charging time to around 30 minutes, making everyday driving with the RZ significantly easier.
02:22One of the most striking innovations is the new steer-by-wire system, which replaces the
02:26traditional mechanical steering column. Instead, steering commands are transmitted electronically
02:33to the front wheels. The redesigned steering wheel has a nearly rectangular shape with curved grips on the sides.
02:41The elimination of the steering column allows for an optimized cockpit layout and provides more legroom.
02:48The steering uses a speed-sensitive steering ratio, meaning the steering wheel only needs to be moved
02:53200 degrees from lock to lock. The all-wheel drive models also benefit from optimized power distribution between
03:02the front and rear axles. Lexus expects this to reduce pitching, improve acceleration, and provide more precise
03:10tracking in corners. Driving dynamics have been further optimized. Targeted stiffeners in the body and
03:18re-tuned dampers ensure greater stability and greater ride comfort. In addition, new soundproofing materials
03:26were installed to minimize interior noise. The interior is also more sustainable, with Lexus increasingly
03:33relying on recycled materials for the trim. The ambient lighting can now be set to multiple colors,
03:40and the panoramic roof offers a new dimming function. The F-Sport model stands out with its distinctive design.
03:49It features striking front and rear aprons, a front and rear spoiler, and aerodynamically optimized 20-inch alloy wheels.
03:58An exclusive exterior color called Neutrino Gray with metallic accents enhances the sporty look
04:04and creates a strong contrast with the black design elements.
04:07The interior is dominated by gray and black tones,
04:12complemented by blue decorative stitching, sporty shaped front seats, door sills,
04:17a special sports steering wheel, and aluminum pedals that round out the sporty ambience.
04:24Lexus has not yet announced pricing for the updated model.
04:29The market launch of the new RZ is planned for fall 2025.
04:33With the facelift, Lexus is not only bringing a more powerful and efficient electric platform to the RZ,
04:38but also an innovative steering system and a new gearshift feel.
