00:43The Mazda Spirit Racing Roadstar 12R is based on the soft-topped version and impresses with numerous innovations, both visually and technically.
00:51Under the hood, there is finally an increase in power.
00:54However, the 2.0L naturally aspirated engine has been revised again and now produces a whopping 197hp.
01:01Among other things, Mazda engineers have optimized the intake, exhaust, cylinder heads, pistons and camshafts.
01:08By comparison, when the ND generation was launched in 2015, the engine still produced 160hp before being increased to 184hp three years later.
01:18The current upgrade may only produce 16hp on paper, but in a car as light as the MX-5, you can definitely feel the difference.
01:26In addition to the more powerful engine, the 12R Special Edition offers an aerodynamic body kit and a special Aeroi paint job.
01:35Forged Race Tay 37 alloy wheels with Yokohama Advance ADO 9 tires ensure even better handling, while Brembo brakes up front provide the necessary deceleration.
