00:00Welcome to the video from CarMagazine TuningBlock on the new Chinese electric vehicle Sherry
00:24Exceeds Stara ES, in which its safety was impressively demonstrated in a very special crash test.
00:32Sherry subjected its second 25 Exceeds Stara ES to a demanding scenario in Tien,
00:38China, together with the China Automotive Technology and Research Center.
00:44Instead of conventional crash test sleds, three real electric cars were used to recreate an accident
00:49that is more realistic. The idea was to simulate a U-turn situation in which the red test vehicle
00:57was hit by two other Exceeds Stara ES from opposite directions, both traveling at around 60 km per hour.
01:06While in a real accident the speeds of the vehicles involved would vary and all would be in motion,
01:11in the test one vehicle remained static, which distributed the forces more unevenly than in reality.
01:20The impact was deliberately planned so that one white vehicle hit the front right area with an angle
01:25of approximately 30 degrees, while the second white vehicle hit the passenger side head-on at a 180
01:31degrees angle. Despite this extreme load, during which the chassis had to withstand forces of around 35
01:38tons, equivalent to around 32 tons from a 70,000 pound load, the passenger compartment remained stable.
01:45The photos and video recordings showed that all seven airbags deployed correctly,
01:50the doors unlocked automatically, and even the battery showed no smoke, leaks, or fire.
01:58The high-lift system shut itself off automatically after impact.
02:03This demonstration, carried out by Sherry himself, is impressive, but leaves open the question of how the
02:09Exceeds Stara ES would perform under the more stringent requirements of independent organizations
02:14such as Eurocap or the IHS. After all, it is one thing to conduct an in-house test, but quite another
02:22to have a vehicle assessed by external experts. It should be noted that such a test setup with a
02:29stationary car does not fully reflect the energy distribution in an emergency. In a real U-turn
02:37situation, the force would be distributed among all vehicles involved, creating a different dynamic.
02:44These factors are precisely what are important when evaluating the test results, even though the
02:48demonstrated structural stability and the functionality of the Exceeds Stara ES's safety systems are remarkable.
