Wie sicher ist das Tesla Cybertruck wirklich? Die NHTSA hat das E-Pickup nun offiziell getestet – mit beeindruckenden Ergebnissen! In den Crash-Tests erhielt das Cybertruck die höchste Bewertung von fünf Sternen in den meisten Kategorien. Besonders bei Frontal- und Seitenaufprall zeigte sich die robuste Bauweise. Doch es gab auch kleine Überraschungen, etwa bei den Knie-Airbags.

Neben den herkömmlichen Crash-Tests wurde auch die Kippsicherheit bewertet. Mit einer ermittelten Kippgefahr von 12,4 % bleibt das Cybertruck im sicheren Bereich für Fahrzeuge dieser Klasse. Interessant: Das Modell setzt die Tradition fort, dass alle Tesla-Fahrzeuge in NHTSA-Tests fünf Sterne erhalten. Allerdings bleibt die Frage offen, wie es beim Fußgängerschutz abschneiden würde – eine Wertung, die in diesen Tests nicht berücksichtigt wird.

00:00Safety at the core of all Teslas in Cybertruck, no exception.
00:11Today's test is the first Cybertruck crash test, and it's a 35 mil an hour full frontal,
00:16which is one of the most severe crash tests in the industry.
00:18So we have to make sure that we absorb the energy correctly and manage that acceleration
00:22so we can better protect occupants.
00:24There's a lot of misconceptions that this big, ominous-looking vehicle is going to be unsafe for other road users.
00:31We designed it to have the crash structure way down low.
00:34It's not only in line with the center of gravity, but it's compatible with other vehicles on the road,
00:39which means it's a safer crash for everyone involved.
00:54After the crash, we're going back really making sure that our models match up with exactly the positioning of everything.
01:03And then with our simulations, we can see how the airbags are deployed,
01:07how the occupant is then interacting with these airbags.
01:11We get a progressive crush, the motion of the tow hook first, and then the bumper as it crushes.
01:16And then the next thing we have is the casting.
01:18The large casting in Cybertruck is performing in a different manner compared to your typical stamped steel structures.
01:26Typically, it'll bend into a three-point bend and absorb energy,
01:29whereas with the casting, it's going to break off into very tiny little pieces.
01:32And the smaller the pieces that it breaks up into, the more efficient your structure is.
01:38Today, we're at the crash test site for rollover testing.
01:42Make sure we get a lot of data on when it almost rolls versus when it actually rolls
01:46so we can figure out what's the best time to deploy airbags to protect the occupants.
01:50We're doing four types of different rollovers.
01:52The first is a ramp rollover.
01:55Then next, a curb trip rollover where you go laterally towards a curb.
02:00The next one is similar to the last one except there's no curb, but it's a soil ditch.
02:04Finally, the last one is a big wrap ditch where you drive down at different speeds.
02:08We test until failure and we'll keep increasing the speed until we get a rollover.
02:13So the first step is rollover prevention and design in such a way
02:17with a low center of gravity and good suspension systems.
02:20The second step is rollover protection where the airbags and the structure of the truck come in.
02:24So if the truck were to rollover, you want to make sure that the cabin is protected
02:28and it can hold up its own weight plus additional weight as well as protect the occupants in that case.
02:33What this testing shows is that the overall design of Cybertruck is very robust.
02:37I've been impressed with the way the Cybertruck maintained its structural integrity
02:39during multiple different types of rollovers.
02:41The typical gas pickup truck is carrying the weight in its body and its gas tank,
02:45which are both mounted quite high in the vehicle.
02:50The majority of that mass is in the battery pack, which is down all the way on the floor.
02:54It's actually the floor of the vehicle.
02:56Cybertruck has the lowest probability of injury
02:58and the lowest probability of rollover in any pickup truck on the market.
03:02No one thought it would be possible to build a tough truck that's also very safe,
03:05but at Tesla, we don't stop until we meet our high level of safety.
