00:00Hello on the TuningBlock Channel. Today, I have another new product video.
00:07It's about a dashcam from Marsili.
00:13I've already published a video, not that long ago, where I got a dashcam from the
00:17same manufacturer, an X2, and I showed you how to install it in its functions.
00:22Now, we've got the same camera again, with an extra GPS module. You can see it on the side.
00:34It's for better standard accuracy, speed, and so on and so forth.
00:39The principle is the same. The camera is also, how should I say, invisibly installed in the interior,
00:45right? Just like with the X2, it's integrated,
00:50it doesn't just hang around on the windshield, but is attached to the interior mirror.
00:57Also included is this, what's it called? I think it's a hardwire kit,
01:02which allows you to connect the camera directly to the vehicle battery.
01:05I don't do that, I don't necessarily need it, it's a bit too much work for me,
01:09pulling cables to the battery and so on and so forth. But it's definitely included in the scope
01:14of delivery. So anyone who's interested can connect it accordingly.
01:18Um, I'm also particularly interested in how the 5 series integrates into the interior,
01:25and what the image quality is like. Of course, that's obvious, there's also a camera for the
01:29rear, by the way. Um, I don't have that here either, and I don't need it, because the vehicle
01:33already has one anyway. Um, we'll have to look at the GSMUL, because I definitely want to make sure
01:40that you can't see anything in the interior. Now apart from this little book disc there.
01:45Um, I'll have to see whether I put it up here in the corner or whether I don't like it and whether
01:50I just put it under the roof panel. Whether it still works 100% remains to be seen,
01:55I'll have to try it out. Maybe I'll put it right here somewhere in this area so that you can't see it.
02:01I have to see if there are any options and if so, which ones, because I value that. Um,
02:06I just can't stand it when something is stuck somewhere. We'll see. Um, just a little more
02:10information in advance. Here are the typical things when you're working on hard plastic.
02:18So these 3 parts are the original BMW parts. Not this one, this is a special holder. Um,
02:23it's made with 3MB tape. I need it for the vehicle. Um, but this part, this part and this part.
02:29And you have to remove them one after the other and usually start. So what do you mean by usually?
02:34You start with the large part. Um, it has 2 tabs here, right and left.
02:42And you actually pull it a little towards you, so in that direction towards you and then you can
02:46remove it with a little tack and these 2 clamps should also remain intact.
02:52It's always a bit of a problem for me. Usually, when I build something like this,
02:56I rarely manage to make sure that nothing breaks off. Of course, that was the case again today,
02:59namely with the middle part, which is the second to be removed. You can see it here.
03:03One of the tabs is missing and the other one is already cracked. Um, yeah, that's how it is.
03:08I'll definitely put it back together again. Let's see if this middle part stays in place.
03:14If not, I'll just have to order another one. Luckily, they're all available individually.
03:18The BMW numbers are also on them. Yes, these are parts that aren't meant to be taken apart 3 or 4 times.
03:25Yes, I noticed that again. And this is the original cap. It was relatively easy to remove.
03:30Just so you know, as I said, this is basically the installation sequence,
03:36logically without the part. Because that's where the camera goes,
03:40then a surrounding area in reverse order, and yes, I'll show you that now.
03:46But before I do that, a quick bit of information about the cam. As I said,
03:50this is what it looks like, or the other way around, right? It has control buttons on the bottom here.
03:56Then here on the side it's nicely integrated. I hope you can see that. Uh, the slot for the SD card
04:03is also included. It's a 64GB SPSD card. And yes, the manufacturer advertises that the installation
04:12is relatively simple. That's basically the case, but you'll notice when installing it up here that
04:16everything is really tight. So, that's one thing. Otherwise, it has major advantages, right? You don't
04:22see any cables hanging around in the interior and the power supply comes directly here via this original
04:28BMW cable. There's an adapter cable here. We have it here, right? It's connected accordingly. I'll show
04:38you later. It's not rocket science. It's really quite simple. Otherwise, the camera delivers a 4K resolution
04:48and you can use up to 256GB of storage space via SD card. And yes, there's a very, very comprehensive
04:56app for it, which is really cool. It also includes the operating instructions for assembly. And via the app,
05:02you can set the usual 5000 functions, let's say, that these cameras have. Like the loop function,
05:08when something is overwritten and so on and so forth. So countless functions, I don't think I'll
05:13necessarily show you all of them now. The GS module that comes with it is only compatible with the camera,
05:19so only from the manufacturer, of course. You also have to order it when you order, because the cable
05:26is permanently installed in the camera. That means you can't retrofit it yourself if you want a GBS module,
05:33that's not possible, as far as I know. Um, the speed unit is, I think, only KMH. That's quite good here in
05:41Germany. Um, just as a bit of information, it's only displayed in KMH. Otherwise, the app shows the
05:48exact longitude and latitude speed and so on and so forth. And yes, so they will have a very high GS
05:56sensitivity and yes, otherwise I would say, I'll just put the fun together. So, just a quick note here.
06:05There's a big one, where is it? Wait, a big, wide plug. But this one has nothing to do with the
06:18connection, right? This is the one in the middle, it has nothing to do with it. The camera is connected
06:26up here. In my car, however, I had to disconnect the plug to get to the other one, right? Up here,
06:34but just as a bit of information, the connection up here is important for you.
06:40So, um, I'm alone, so I can only do this after it's already been connected,
06:44so I can show you on the video. In any case, this is the original BMW cable,
06:49you connect it to the camera. Uh, this is a Y cable, then you connect that as well and you don't
06:55need this one. I think, wait a minute, is it in focus? I think this is for the camera in the back,
07:00I'm not entirely sure. In any case, you don't need it. So, then the fun is reassembled up here,
07:06right? This is now the original cable from the camera and you attach it to the connection.
07:15Then you put the original cable back in and then the fun should continue as normal.
07:19So, that would be the assembled state, right? Up here, I hope you can see it,
07:23quite a tangle of cables, but the cable from the camera goes right at the top.
07:27Then the one where you see the pink and red wires, that's the original BMW cable,
07:31you don't really connect it, just put everything back together.
07:35And yes, the connector is clear here, the other one remains free.
07:40And then you can go back to the assembly cart in reverse order.
07:45By the way, what I think is more important is to pull the cable through here in the middle,
07:49right? Just pull it through here in this area,
07:52then it's easier to assemble than if the basket has to go somewhere on the outside.
07:56You should keep that in mind, yes. This is what it looks like when assembled, right?
08:03Here's the tab, it doesn't fit quite right for me, but I think it will work out with the two other
08:08parts. Up here. It has to go in over there, of course, to the same extent.
08:16And I'll see if that was a good solution, but I think so.
08:20Uh, the cable comes out here in this area and the camera has a very, very large cavity.
08:25Uh, in my opinion, try to do as much as possible. I actually managed to get this whole Y adapter cable
08:31in there. Uh, just try to push it in here. You can hide the whole cable. Then you won't have any
08:39problems in this area later when it comes to assembling it. That's what fun looks like when
08:45it's installed. Um, this here, there's a bit of water on it, which is why it looks a bit strange.
08:51I immediately cleaned the windshield. But it's holding and the gap is a bit bigger now,
08:57but it's actually because I unfortunately broke off the tabs. Uh, yes, but now that I look at the
09:04entire interior, no one can see it. And if I ever decide to do it, I'll just order this product and
09:10replace it. But as I said, it has nothing to do with the accuracy of the camera's fit. I just broke
09:16off the two tabs and, well, of course they do make sense. So, from the outside it looks like this.
09:26You can't see much now. Of course it's glare.
09:35Yeah, well, maybe from over here again, right?
09:40Exactly. It was the installed state, but it's important, really, really important for me.
09:44No cables anywhere. And I've hidden the GBS module up in the headliner. It's behind it here.
09:49It fits in there quite well. I hope that's sufficient in terms of reception.
09:54Um, because for me, the visual aspect is definitely more important than the function in this case,
09:59because the camera still does its job, even if the GSM UL isn't 100% accurate,
10:03but that remains to be seen.
10:09So, let's take a drive in the car during the day, right?
10:11It actually looks pretty good. City traffic again, a bit of sunshine, and yeah, just take a look.
10:22You can also recognize the license plates of oncoming cars. If you press pause at the right
10:29moment, you can actually read them. Uh, of course, I can also recognize the car in front of you quite
10:36well. Yes, it has a decent resolution. It's a 4K resolution, and then you always have the exact
10:44GPS coordinates included, right? You can see them at the bottom left. The resolution is displayed,
10:51the latitude is displayed. Um, yeah, then you can see your driving speed and I even saw that there's a
11:02folder stored on the SD card. Where it really is, I don't know, every second or something,
11:07always stored as a text file, how fast I was driving and what kind of distance and latitude I
11:11just covered or whatever it's called, right? So you can always see exactly, okay, now at the
11:21traffic light I was driving at 48 kilometers per hour, then I accelerated to 60 and whatnot.
11:27It's certainly good for something, even if you can't think of what right now, but in any case,
11:31the function exists. Exactly. Yes, so I think that's shown you a lot for the day and now I have
11:37a short drive at night and we'll take a look at that. Okay, and that's it for now. Um, in any case,
11:45it's pitch black. I stopped here once and drove right up here. So, yes, you know the license plate,
11:52right? You can see it in the recording, right? Of course, it will get worse if it rains and fogs or
12:03something else. So, you shouldn't expect miracles, but normally the resolution at night is very,
12:11very good and quite a bit better than similar models, let's say. I don't want to mention any names,
12:16I already had a permanently installed one, it didn't have the same quality as Widen.
12:21So this is already pretty good, let's say, right? Otherwise, the data is also below and everything
12:27is clear. Of course, it shows. Ah, what else can I say about it? Well, I think you can now form your
12:36own opinion or were able to form your own opinion about the quality. And I'm actually impressed.
12:42I'm impressed with the installation, because it was really easy to install and simple to install,
12:47right? There aren't many parts. Anyone can connect it. Uh, yes, so I can definitely recommend it.
12:55Now also on. What didn't work at all, however, was the app. Um, I think it's only rated with two
13:02stars for a reason. I don't know. For me, it was only set to Chinese. Um, it's this one, as you can see
13:09here, with a red lion's head. Um, it just didn't work. And even when I tried to click through it in
13:15Chinese, um, it just wouldn't connect. Then I tried another one, it was called Lucy Cam,
13:22it worked at first, but then it didn't anymore. Um, what works really well and is also really stable,
13:30both for making live settings and downloading videos, is this linker.
13:37Um, yeah, as of now, it works great with the cam and yes, so my advice, if it doesn't work for you on
13:42your phone, then get this one. I think it works. Okay, if this helped you, please leave a subscription,
13:50I'd be happy. And until the next video.
