00:24The Audi A3 Sportback TFSI E has received a comprehensive technical upgrade.
00:31With an increased battery capacity, the number of fast-charging stations and an electric range of up to 143 km, it sets new standards in its class.
00:41At the heart of this drive system is a new turbocharged petrol engine that works in perfect harmony with a more powerful electric motor.
00:50The previous 1.4 LTFSI has been replaced by the more efficient 1.5 LTFSI Evo 2.
00:56Thanks to optimized combustion chamber cooling and the Miller cycle, in which the intake valves close earlier, the engine now achieves a higher compression ratio of 11.5 core 1 compared to the previous 101.
01:08The permanent synchronous motor takes over the electric drive and now delivers an impressive 115 horsepower, 85 kW and a torque of 330 Nm.
01:17It is seamlessly integrated into the housing of the 6-speed S-tronic transmission, which has been equipped with a more robust bearing to cope with the increased system performance.
01:29The power of both engines is transmitted to the front axle, with the dual-clutch transmission operating smoothly even when the petrol engine is temporarily deactivated thanks to an electric wheel pump.
01:43The high-capacity battery is another highlight.
01:47With a gross capacity of 525.7 kWh, almost twice as much as the previous model, it offers a net capacity of 90.7 kWh for use.
01:58The 96 prismatic cells, divided into 4 modules, store significantly more energy thanks to improved cell chemistry.
02:05A dedicated cooling circuit keeps the battery in the optimum temperature range at all times, which contributes to the impressive electric range of up to 143 km.
02:16Audi offers the A3 Sportback TFSA in two output levels, as the 40 TFSA and the 45 TFSA.
02:23In the more powerful version, the 1.5 LTFSI AVO II delivers a whopping 177 horsepower, 130 kW and offers a maximum torque of 250 Nm between 1,500 and 4,000 revolutions per minute.
02:40Combined with the electric motor, this results in a system output of an impressive 272 horsepower, 200 kW and a system torque of 400 Nm.
02:49As a result, the sprint from 0 to 100 km per hour is achieved in just 6.3 seconds.
02:56The top speed is a dynamic 237 km per hour.
03:01The smaller version, the 40 TFSA, comes with 150 hp, 110 kW and also 250 Nm of torque.
03:09Together with the electric motor, this produces 204 hp, 150 kW of system power and a system torque of 350 Nm.
03:20This enables it to sprint from 0 to 100 km per hour in 7.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 225 km per hour.
03:29Both models can reach speeds of up to 140 km per hour on pure electric power.
03:34The drive management is designed for maximum efficiency.
03:38The car always starts on electricity, even at temperatures as low as minus 28 degrees Celsius.
03:44The EV button allows you to prioritize the electric drive and thus travel almost silently and emission-free.
03:51A new feature is charging with direct current at fast charging stations.
03:56With up to 50 kW of DC charging power, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in less than half an hour.
04:04This enables comfortable and flexible travel in electric mode.
04:08By positioning the battery under the vehicle floor in the area of the rear seat bench,
04:13the axle load distribution has become somewhat more rear-heavy, which benefits the handling.
04:18The chassis and dampers have been adapted accordingly to ensure an agile and safe driving experience.
04:23The Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSI starts at €44,200 in Germany.
04:33The more powerful and sporty version 45 TFSI-E is available from €47,700.
04:42Orders for both models will be possible from October 2024.
04:46The A3 Allstreet will also follow in the fall as a plug-in hybrid version.
